2 Samuel 6

1 Und David versammelte abermals alle auserlesene Mannschaft in Israel, dreißigtausend.

Now David again gathered together all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand.

2 Und David machte sich auf mit allem Volk, das bei ihm war, und ging hin gen Baale-Juda, um von dort die Lade Gottes heraufzuholen, bei welcher der Name angerufen wird, der Name des HERRN der Heerscharen, der über den Cherubim thront.

David arose and went with all his men who were with him from Baalah in Judah to bring up from there the ark of God, which is called by the name of Yahweh of hosts, who sits enthroned over the cherubim.

3 Und sie setzten die Lade auf einen neuen Wagen und holten sie aus dem Hause Abinadabs, das auf dem Hügel war. Ussa aber und Achio, die Söhne Abinadabs, lenkten den neuen Wagen.

They set the ark of God on a new cart. They brought it out of Abinadab's house, which was on a hill. Uzzah and Ahio, his sons, were guiding the new cart.

4 Und als sie ihn mit der Lade Gottes aus dem Hause Abinadabs wegführten, das auf dem Hügel war, ging Achio vor der Lade her.

They brought the cart out of Abinadab's house on the hill with the ark of God on it. Ahio was walking in front of the ark.

5 Und David und das ganze Haus Israel spielten vor dem HERRN mit aller Macht zum Gesang mit Harfen, mit Lauten, mit Handpauken, mit Schellen und mit Zimbeln.

Then David and all the house of Israel began to play before Yahweh, celebrating with wooden instruments, harps, lyres, tambourines, rattles, and cymbals.

6 Und als sie zur Tenne Nachons kamen, griff Ussa nach der Lade Gottes und hielt sie; denn die Rinder waren ausgeglitten.

When they came to the threshing floor of Nakon, the oxen stumbled, and Uzzah reached out with his hand to grab the ark of God, and he took hold of it.

7 Da entbrannte der Zorn des HERRN über Ussa; und Gott schlug ihn daselbst um des Frevels willen; so starb er daselbst bei der Lade Gottes.

Then the anger of Yahweh burned against Uzzah. God attacked him there for his sin. Uzzah died there by the ark of God.

8 Aber auch David ergrimmte, daß der HERR mit Ussa einen solchen Riß gemacht hatte; darum hieß man diesen Ort Perez-Ussa bis auf diesen Tag.

David was angry because Yahweh had attacked Uzzah, and he called the name of that place Perez Uzzah. That place is called Perez Uzza to this day.

9 Und David fürchtete sich vor dem HERRN an jenem Tag und sprach: Wie soll die Lade des HERRN zu mir kommen?

David was afraid of Yahweh that day. He said, “How can the ark of Yahweh come to me?”

10 Und David wollte die Lade des HERRN nicht zu sich in die Stadt Davids hinaufbringen lassen, sondern ließ sie beiseite führen in das Haus Obed-Edoms, des Gatiters.

So David was not willing to take the ark of Yahweh with him into the city of David. Instead, he put it aside in the house of Obed Edom the Gittite.

11 Und die Lade des HERRN verblieb drei Monate lang im Hause Obed-Edoms, des Gatiters, und der HERR segnete Obed-Edom und sein ganzes Haus.

The ark of Yahweh remained in the house of Obed Edom the Gittite for three months. So Yahweh blessed him and all his household.

12 Als nun dem König David angezeigt ward, daß der HERR das Haus Obed-Edoms und alles, was er hatte, segnete um der Lade Gottes willen, da ging David hin und holte die Lade Gottes mit Freuden aus dem Hause Obed-Edoms herauf in die Stadt Davids.

Now King David was told, “Yahweh has blessed Obed Edom's house and everything that belongs to him because of the ark of God.” So David went and brought up the ark of God from Obed Edom's house to the city of David with joy.

13 Und wenn die, welche die Lade des HERRN trugen, sechs Schritte gegangen waren, opferte man einen Ochsen und ein fettes Schaf.

When those who were carrying the ark of Yahweh had gone six steps, he sacrificed an ox and a fattened calf.

14 Und David tanzte mit aller Macht vor dem HERRN her und war mit einem leinenen Ephod umgürtet.

David danced before Yahweh with all his might; he was wearing only a linen ephod.

15 Also führten David und das ganze Haus Israel die Lade des HERRN mit Jubelgeschrei und Posaunenschall herauf.

So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of Yahweh with shouting and the sound of trumpets.

16 Und als die Lade des HERRN in die Stadt Davids kam, schaute Michal, die Tochter Sauls, durchs Fenster und sah den König David hüpfen und vor dem HERRN tanzen, und sie verachtete ihn in ihrem Herzen.

Now as the ark of Yahweh came into the city of David, Michal, daughter of Saul, looked out the window. She saw King David leaping and dancing before Yahweh. Then she despised him in her heart.

17 Als sie aber die Lade des HERRN hineinbrachten, stellten sie dieselbe an ihren Ort, in das Zelt, das David für sie aufgeschlagen hatte. Darnach opferte David Brandopfer und Dankopfer vor dem HERRN.

They brought in the ark of Yahweh and put it in its place, in the middle of the tent that David had set up for it. Then David offered burnt offerings and fellowship offerings before Yahweh.

18 Und als David die Brandopfer und Dankopfer vollendet hatte, segnete er das Volk im Namen des HERRN der Heerscharen

When David had finished sacrificing the burnt offerings and the fellowship offerings, he blessed the people in the name of Yahweh of hosts.

19 und ließ allem Volk und der ganzen Menge Israels, Männern und Weibern, einem jeden einen Brotkuchen, einen Traubenkuchen und einen Rosinenkuchen austeilen. Dann ging das ganze Volk hin, ein jeder in sein Haus.

Then he distributed among all the people, the whole multitude of Israel, both to men and women, a loaf of bread, a portion of meat, and a cake of raisins. Then all the people left; each one returned to his own house.

20 Als aber David umkehrte, sein Haus zu segnen, ging Michal, die Tochter Sauls, ihm entgegen und sprach: Welche Ehre hat sich heute der König Israels erworben, daß er sich heute vor den Mägden seiner Knechte entblößte, wie leichtfertige Leute sich entblößen!

Then David returned to bless his family. Michal, the daughter of Saul, came out to meet David and said, “How honored the king of Israel was today, who undressed himself today before the eyes of the slave girls among his servants, like one of the crude fellows who shamelessly undresses himself!”

21 David aber sprach zu Michal: Vor dem HERRN, der mich vor deinem Vater und vor seinem ganzen Hause erwählt und mir befohlen hat, Fürst über das Volk des HERRN, über Israel zu sein,

David responded to Michal, “I did that before Yahweh, who chose me above your father and above all his family, who appointed me leader over the people of Yahweh, over Israel. Before Yahweh I will be joyful!

22 vor dem HERRN habe ich getanzt. Und ich will noch geringer werden als diesmal und niedrig sein in meinen Augen; und bei den Mägden, von welchen du gesprochen hast, will ich mir Ehre erwerben!

I will be even more undignified than this, and I will be humiliated in my own eyes. But by these slave girls you have spoken about, I will be honored.”

23 Aber Michal, die Tochter Sauls, hatte kein Kind bis an den Tag ihres Todes.

So Michal, the daughter of Saul, had no children to the day of her death.
