2 Samuel 5

1 Und alle Stämme Israels kamen zu David gen Hebron und sprachen: Siehe, wir sind dein Gebein und dein Fleisch.

Then came all the tribes of Israel to David unto Hebron, and spoke, saying, Behold us, thy bone and thy flesh are we;

2 Schon je und je, als Saul noch König über uns war, führtest du Israel aus und ein. Dazu hat der HERR dir gesagt: Du sollst mein Volk Israel weiden, und du sollst Fürst sein über Israel!

Already yesterday, and even before, when Saul was king over us, thou wast the one that led out and brought in Israel: And the Lord said to thee, Thou shalt indeed feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be a chief over Israel.

3 Und alle Ältesten Israels kamen zum König gen Hebron. Und der König David machte mit ihnen einen Bund zu Hebron vor dem HERRN. Und sie salbten David zum König über Israel.

Thus came all the elders of Israel to the king unto Hebron; and king David made a covenant with them in Hebron before the Lord: and they anointed David as king over Israel.

4 David war dreißig Jahre alt, als er König ward, und regierte vierzig Jahre lang.

Thirty years was David old when he became king, [and] forty years he reigned.

5 Zu Hebron regierte er über Juda sieben Jahre und sechs Monate; aber zu Jerusalem regierte er über ganz Israel und Juda dreiunddreißig Jahre.

In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months: and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years over all Israel and Judah.

6 Und der König zog mit seinen Männern nach Jerusalem gegen die Jebusiter, die im Lande wohnten; die sprachen zu David: Du wirst hier nicht hereinkommen, sondern die Blinden und die Lahmen werden dich vertreiben! Das sollte heißen: David wird nicht hineinkommen!

And the king and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land; who said unto David, as followeth, Thou shalt not come in hither, except thou [first] remove away the blind and the lame: meaning, David cannot come in hither.

7 Aber David nahm die Burg Zion ein; das ist die Stadt Davids.

Nevertheless David captured the strong-hold of Zion; the same is the city of David.

8 Denn David sprach an jenem Tage: Wer die Jebusiter schlägt und die Wasserleitung erreicht und die Lahmen und Blinden, welchen die Seele Davids feind ist [der soll ein Haupt und Oberster sein]. Daher spricht man: «Es wird kein Blinder noch Lahmer ins Haus kommen!»

And David said on that day, Whosoever will smite the Jebusites, and reach the aqueduct and the lame and the blind, that are hateful to David's soul, —Wherefore people usually say, The blind and the lame shall not come into the house.

9 Und David ließ sich nieder auf der Burg und nannte sie Stadt Davids. Und David baute ringsum vom Millo an einwärts.

And David dwelt in the fort, and he called it “The City of David.” And David built [it] round about from the Millo and inward.

10 Und David ward immer mächtiger, und der HERR, der Gott der Heerscharen, war mit ihm.

And David went on, and became greater and greater, and the Lord the God of hosts was with him.

11 Und Hiram, der König zu Tyrus, sandte Boten zu David und Zedernstämme und Zimmerleute und Steinmetzen, und sie bauten David ein Haus.

And Hiram the king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar-trees, and carpenters, and stone-masons: and they built a house for David.

12 Da erkannte David, daß der HERR ihn zum König über Israel bestätigt und sein Königreich zu Ansehen gebracht habe um seines Volkes Israel willen.

And David felt conscious that the Lord has established him as king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for the sake of his people Israel.

13 Und David nahm sich noch mehr Kebsweiber und Frauen in Jerusalem, nachdem er von Hebron gekommen war, und es wurden ihm noch mehr Söhne und Töchter geboren.

And David took yet more concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after he was come from Hebron; and there were born to David yet [more] sons and daughters.

14 Und dies sind die Namen derer, die ihm zu Jerusalem geboren sind: Sammua, Sobab, Natan und Salomo;

And these are the names of those that were born unto him in Jerusalem: Shammua', and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon,

15 Jibchar, Elischua, Nepheg und Japhia;

And Yibchar, and Elishua', and Nepheg, and Yaphia',

16 Elischama, Eljada und Eliphelet.

And Elishama', and Elyada', and Eliphelet.

17 Als aber die Philister hörten, daß man David zum König über Israel gesalbt hatte, zogen sie alle herauf, um David herauszufordern. Als David solches erfuhr, zog er zur Bergfeste hinab.

But when the Philistines heard that the people had anointed David as king over Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek David: and David heard of it, and went down to the strong-hold.

18 Aber die Philister kamen und ließen sich im Tal Rephaim nieder.

The Philistines also came and spread themselves out in the valley of Rephaim.

19 Und David befragte den HERRN und sprach: Soll ich wider die Philister hinaufziehen? Und willst du sie in meine Hand geben? Der HERR sprach zu David: Ziehe hinauf, denn ich will die Philister gewiß in deine Hand geben!

And David asked counsel of the Lord, saying, shall I go up against the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into my hand? And the Lord said unto David, Go up; for I will certainly deliver the Philistines into thy hand.

20 Und David kam gen Baal-Perazim und schlug sie daselbst und sprach: Der HERR hat meine Feinde vor mir zerrissen, wie das Wasser einen Damm zerreißt! Daher hieß man jenen Ort Baal-Perazim.

And David came to Ba'al-perazim, and David smote them there, and said, The Lord hath broken down my enemies before me, as a breach [is made by] water. Wherefore he called the name of that place Ba'al-perazim.

21 Und sie ließen ihre Götzen daselbst; David aber und seine Männer nahmen sie weg.

And they left behind there their idols, and David and his men burnt them.

22 Aber die Philister zogen nochmals herauf und ließen sich im Tal Rephaim nieder.

And the Philistines came up once again, and spread themselves out in the valley of Rephaim.

23 Und David befragte den HERRN. Da sprach er: Du sollst nicht hinaufziehen; sondern umgehe sie und falle ihnen in den Rücken, daß du an sie herankommest von den Balsamstauden her.

And when David asked counsel of the Lord, he said, Thou shalt not go up; but turn about and fall in the rear of them, and come upon them opposite to the mulberry-trees.

24 Und wenn du in den Wipfeln der Balsamstauden das Geräusch eines Einherschreitens hören wirst, alsdann beeile dich; denn der HERR ist alsdann vor dir hergezogen, das Heer der Philister zu schlagen.

And it shall be, when thou hearest the sound of walking on the top of the mulberry-trees, that thou shalt then bestir thyself; for then will the Lord go out before thee, to smite in the camp of the Philistines.

25 Und David tat also, wie ihm der HERR geboten hatte, und schlug die Philister von Geba an, bis man gen Geser kommt.

And David did so, as the Lord had commanded him; and he smote the Philistines from Geba' until thou comest to Gezer.
