2 Samuel 23

1 Dies sind die letzten Worte Davids: Es sprach David, der Sohn Isais, es sprach der Mann, der hocherhaben ist, der Gesalbte des Gottes Jakobs, der liebliche Psalmdichter in Israel:

Now these are the last words of David: David the son of Jesse saith, And the man who was raised up on high, The anointed of the God of Jacob, And the sweet psalmist of Israel saith,

2 Der Geist des HERRN hat durch mich geredet, und seine Rede war auf meiner Zunge.

The Spirit of Jehovah spoke by me, And his word was on my tongue.

3 Der Gott Israels hat geredet, der Fels Israels hat zu mir gesprochen: Ein gerechter Herrscher über die Menschen, ein Herrscher in der Furcht Gottes,

The God of Israel said, The Rock of Israel spoke to me, The ruler among men shall be just, Ruling in the fear of God;

4 ist wie das Licht am Morgen, wenn die Sonne am Morgen ohne Wolken aufgeht, wenn durch deren Glanz das junge Grün nach dem Regen aus der Erde sproßt.

And [he shall be] as the light of the morning, [like] the rising of the sun, A morning without clouds; [When] from the sunshine, after rain, The green grass springeth from the earth.

5 Steht mein Haus nicht fest bei Gott? Denn er hat einen ewigen Bund mit mir gemacht, in allem wohl geordnet und verwahrt; wird er nicht alles gedeihen lassen, was mir zum Heil und zur Freude dient?

Although my house be not so before God, Yet he hath made with me an everlasting covenant, Ordered in every way and sure; For [this is] all my salvation, and every desire, Although he make [it] not to grow.

6 Aber die Nichtswürdigen sind alle wie weggeworfene Dornen, welche man nicht in die Hand nimmt;

But [the sons] of Belial [are] all of them as thorns thrust away, Because they cannot be taken with hands;

7 wer sie aber anrühren muß, wappnet sich mit Eisen oder Speerschaft; und sie werden gänzlich verbrannt an ihrem Ort.

And the man that will touch them provideth himself with iron and the staff of a spear; And they shall be utterly burned with fire in [their] place.

8 Dies sind die Namen der Helden Davids: Joscheb-Baschebet, der Tachkemoniter, das Haupt der Wagenkämpfer; der schwang seinen Speer über achthundert, die auf einmal erschlagen wurden.

These are the names of the mighty men whom David had: Joseb-Bassebeth, Tachkemonite the chief of the captains: he was Adino the Eznite; he [fought] against eight hundred, slain [by him] at one time.

9 Und nach ihm Eleasar, der Sohn Dodos, des Achochiters; er war unter den drei Helden mit David, als sie die Philister verhöhnten; diese sammelten sich dort zum Streit, aber die Männer von Israel zogen hinauf;

And after him, Eleazar the son of Dodo the son of an Ahohite: he was one of the three mighty men with David, when they had defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone up.

10 er jedoch erhob sich und erschlug unter den Philistern, bis seine Hand müde wurde und am Schwerte klebte. So verlieh der HERR an jenem Tage einen großen Sieg; das Volk kehrte um hinter ihm her, doch nur um zu plündern.

He arose and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand clave to the sword; and Jehovah wrought a great deliverance that day; and the people returned after him only to spoil.

11 Und nach ihm Schamma, der Sohn Ages, des Harariters. Als sich die Philister zu Lechi zusammenscharten, war daselbst ein Ackerstück voll Linsen; als das Volk vor den Philistern die Flucht ergriff,

And after him, Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite: the Philistines were gathered into a troop, and there was there a plot of ground full of lentils, and the people had fled before the Philistines;

12 trat er mitten auf das Ackerstück und verteidigte es und schlug die Philister, und der HERR verlieh einen großen Sieg.

and he stood in the midst of the plot and delivered it, and smote the Philistines, and Jehovah wrought a great deliverance.

13 Und drei unter den dreißig Obersten zogen hinab und kamen zur Erntezeit zu David in die Höhle Adullam, während eine Schar von Philistern im Talgrunde Rephaim lag;

And three of the thirty chiefs went down, and came to David in the harvest time to the cave of Adullam, when the troop of the Philistines was encamped in the valley of Rephaim.

14 David war damals in der Bergfeste, und eine Besatzung der Philister befand sich zu Bethlehem.

And David was then in the stronghold; and the Philistines' garrison was then at Bethlehem.

15 Und David hatte ein Gelüste und sprach: Wer wird mir Wasser zu trinken geben aus dem Brunnen von Bethlehem unter dem Tor?

And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me to drink of the water of the well of Bethlehem, which is in the gate!

16 Da brachen die drei Helden durch das Lager der Philister hindurch und schöpften Wasser aus dem Brunnen von Bethlehem unter dem Tor, trugen es her und brachten es zu David; er aber wollte nicht trinken, sondern goß es aus vor dem HERRN

And the three mighty men broke through the camp of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, which is in the gate, and took it, and brought it to David; however he would not drink of it, but poured it out to Jehovah.

17 und sprach: Es sei ferne von mir, o HERR, daß ich solches tue! Ist es nicht das Blut der Männer, die ihr Leben gewagt haben und hingegangen sind? Darum wollte er nicht trinken. Solches taten die drei Helden.

And he said, Be it far from me, Jehovah, that I should do this thing! is it not the blood of the men that went at the risk of their lives? Therefore he would not drink it. These things did the three mighty men.

18 Und Abisai, der Bruder Joabs, Sohn der Zeruja, war das Haupt der Drei; er zückte seinen Speer gegen dreihundert und tötete sie und machte sich einen Namen unter den Dreien.

And Abishai, the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was the chief of three; and he brandished his spear against three hundred and slew them; and he had a name among the three.

19 War er nicht der geehrteste von den Dreien und wurde ihr Oberster? Aber an jene Drei reichte er nicht.

Was he not most honourable of three? and he was their captain; but he did not attain to the [first] three.

20 Auch Benaja, der Sohn Jojadas, eines tapfern Mannes Sohn, groß an Taten, aus Kabzeel, erschlug die beiden Gotteslöwen Moabs; er stieg auch hinab und tötete einen Löwen in einer Zisterne zur Schneezeit.

And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, son of a valiant man, great in exploits, of Kabzeel: he it was that smote two lions of Moab; and he went down and smote a lion in the midst of a pit on a snowy day.

21 Er erschlug auch einen ansehnlichen ägyptischen Mann, der einen Speer in der Hand trug; er aber ging zu ihm hinab mit einem Stecken, und er riß dem Ägypter den Speer aus der Hand und tötete ihn mit seinem Speer.

He also smote the Egyptian, an imposing man: and the Egyptian had a spear in his hand; and he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian's hand, and slew him with his own spear.

22 Solches tat Benaja, Jojadas Sohn, und war berühmt unter den drei Helden.

These things did Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and he had a name among the three mighty men.

23 Er war der berühmteste der Dreißig, aber an jene Drei reichte er nicht. Und David setzte ihn über seine Leibwache.

He was honoured above the thirty, but he did not attain to the [first] three. And David set him in his council.

24 Unter den Dreißig waren: Asahel, der Bruder Joabs; Elchanan, der Sohn Dodos, von Bethlehem;

Asahel the brother of Joab was one of the thirty; Elhanan the son of Dodo of Bethlehem,

25 Samma, der Haroditer; Elika, der Haroditer;

Shammah the Harodite, Elika the Harodite,

26 Chelez, der Paltiter; Ira, der Sohn des Jikes, des Tekoiters;

Helez the Paltite, Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite,

27 Abieser, der Anatotiter; Mebunnai, der Chuschatiter;

Abiezer the Anathothite, Mebunnai the Hushathite,

28 Zalmon, der Achotiter; Mahari, der Netophatiter;

Zalmon the Ahohite, Maharai the Netophathite,

29 Cheleb, der Sohn Baanas, der Netophatiter; Itai, der Sohn Ribais, von Gibea der Kinder Benjamin;

Heleb the son of Baanah, the Netophathite, Ittai the son of Ribai of Gibeah of the children of Benjamin,

30 Benaja, der Piratoniter; Hiddai von Nachale-Gaas;

Benaiah a Pirathonite, Hiddai of the brooks of Gaash,

31 Abialbon, der Arbatiter; Asmavet, der Barhumiter;

Abi-albon the Arbathite, Azmaveth the Barhumite,

32 Eljachba, der Saalboniter; von den Kindern Jasens: Jonatan;

Eliahba the Shaalbonite, of the sons of Jashen, Jonathan,

33 Schamma, der Harariter; Achiam, der Sohn Sarars, des Harariters;

Shammah the Ararite, Ahiam the son of Sharar the Ararite,

34 Eliphelet, der Sohn Achasbais, des Sohnes Maachatis; Eliam, der Sohn Ahitophels, des Giloniters;

Eliphelet the son of Ahasbai, the son of the Maachathite, Eliam the son of Ahithophel the Gilonite,

35 Chezrai, der Karmeliter; Paarai, der Arbiter;

Hezrai the Carmelite, Paarai the Arbite,

36 Jigeal, der Sohn Natans, von Zoba; Bani, der Gaditer;

Igal the son of Nathan of Zobah, Bani the Gadite,

37 Zelek, der Ammoniter; Naharai, der Beerotiter, Waffenträger Joabs, des Sohnes der Zeruja;

Zelek the Ammonite, Naharai the Beerothite, the armour-bearer of Joab the son of Zeruiah,

38 Ira, der Jitriter; Gareb, der Jitriter;

Ira the Ithrite, Gareb the Ithrite,

39 Urija, der Hetiter. Insgesamt siebenunddreißig.

Uriah the Hittite: thirty-seven in all.
