1 Da sandte der König hin und ließ alle Ältesten von Juda und Jerusalem zu sich versammeln.
And thei telden to the kyng that, that sche seide; `which kyng sente, and alle the elde men of Juda, and of Jerusalem, weren gaderid to hym.
2 Und der König ging hinauf in das Haus des HERRN, und alle Männer von Juda und alle Einwohner von Jerusalem mit ihm, auch die Priester und Propheten und alles Volk, klein und groß, und man las vor ihren Ohren alle Worte des Bundesbuches, das man im Hause des HERRN gefunden hatte.
And the kyng stiede in to the temple of the Lord, and alle the men of Juda, and alle men that dwelliden in Jerusalem with hym, the preestis, and the prophetis, and al the puple, fro litil `til to greet; and he redde, while alle men herden, alle the wordis of the book of boond of pees of the Lord, which book was foundun in the hows of the Lord.
3 Der König aber trat an die Säule und machte einen Bund vor dem HERRN, dem HERRN nachzuwandeln und seine Gebote und Zeugnisse und Satzungen von ganzem Herzen und von ganzer Seele zu beobachten, die Worte dieses Bundes, welche in diesem Buche geschrieben standen, auszuführen. Und das ganze Volk trat in den Bund.
And the kyng stood on the grees; and he smoot boond of pees bifor the Lord, that thei schulden go aftir the Lord, and kepe hise comaundementis and witnessyngis and cerymonyes in al the herte and in al the soule, that thei schulden reise the wordis of this boond of pees, that weren writun in that book; and the puple assentide to the couenaunt.
4 Und der König gebot dem Hohenpriester Hilkia und den Priestern der zweiten Ordnung und den Hütern der Schwelle, daß sie aus dem Tempel des HERRN alle Geräte entfernen sollten, die man dem Baal und der Aschera und dem ganzen Heer des Himmels gemacht hatte; und er verbrannte sie draußen vor Jerusalem, auf den Feldern des Kidron, und trug ihren Staub nach Bethel.
And the kyng comaundide to Helchie, the bischop, and to the preestis of the secounde ordre, and to the porteris, that thei schulden caste out of the temple alle the vesselis, that weren maad to Baal, and in the wode, and to al the knyythod of heuene; and he brente tho vessels with out Jerusalem, in the euene valey of Cedron, and he bar the poudir of tho `vessels in to Bethel.
5 Und er setzte die Götzenpriester ab, welche die Könige von Juda eingesetzt hatten und die auf den Höhen in den Städten Judas und um Jerusalem her räucherten; auch die, welche dem Baal, der Sonne und dem Mond und den Gestirnen und dem ganzen Heer des Himmels räucherten.
And he dide awei false dyuynours `that dyuynyden in the entrailis of beestis sacrified to idols, whiche the kingis of Juda hadden sett to make sacrifice in hiy thingis bi the citees of Juda, and in the cumpas of Jerusalem; and he dide awey hem that brenten encense to Baal, and to the sunne, and to the moone, and to twelue signes, and to al the knyythod of heuene.
6 Er ließ auch die Aschera aus dem Hause des HERRN hinausführen vor Jerusalem, an den Bach Kidron, und verbrannte sie beim Bach Kidron und machte sie zu Staub und warf ihren Staub auf die Gräber der gemeinen Leute.
And he made the wode to be borun out of the hows of the Lord without Jerusalem in the euene valey of Cedron, and he brente it there; and he droof it in to poudir, and castide it forth on the sepulcris of the comyn puple.
7 Und er brach die Häuser der Buhler ab, die am Hause des HERRN waren, darin die Weiber für die Aschera Zelte wirkten.
Also he distriede the litle housis of `men turnyd into wommens condiciouns, whiche housis weren in the hows of the Lord; for whiche the wymmen `maden as litil howsis of the wode.
8 Auch ließ er alle Priester aus den Städten kommen und verunreinigte die Höhen, wo die Priester geräuchert hatten, von Geba an bis gen Beerseba; und er brach die Höhen der Tore ab, die am Eingang des Tores Josuas, des Stadtobersten, waren, zur Linken, wenn man zum Stadttor kommt.
And he gaderide alle the preestis fro the citees of Juda, and he defoulide the hiye thingis, where the preestis maden sacrifice, fro Gabaa `til to Bersabee; and he distriede the auters of yatis in the entryng of the dore of Josie, prince of a citee, which dore was at the lift half of the yate of the cytee.
9 Doch durften die Höhenpriester nicht auf dem Altar des HERRN zu Jerusalem opfern, dagegen aßen sie von dem ungesäuerten Brot unter ihren Brüdern.

10 Er verunreinigte auch das Tophet im Tale der Söhne Hinnom, damit niemand mehr seinen Sohn oder seine Tochter dem Moloch durchs Feuer gehen lasse.

11 Und er schaffte die Rosse ab, welche die Könige von Juda der Sonne geweiht hatten, beim Eingang des Hauses des HERRN, gegen die Kammer Netan-Melechs, des Kämmerers, die im Anbau war; und die Wagen der Sonne verbrannte er mit Feuer.
Also he dide awei horsis, whiche the kyngis of Juda hadden youe to the sunne, in the entryng of the temple of the Lord, bisidis the chaumbir of Nathanmalech, geldyng, that was in Pharurym; forsothe he brente bi fier the charis of the sunne.
12 Der König brach auch die Altäre ab auf dem Dache, dem Söller des Ahas, welche die Könige von Juda gemacht hatten; desgleichen die Altäre, welche Manasse in den beiden Vorhöfen des Hauses des HERRN gemacht hatte, er zerstörte sie und schaffte sie fort und warf ihren Staub in den Bach Kidron.
Also the kyng distriede the auteris, that weren on the roouys of the soler of Achaz, whiche auteris the kyngis of Juda hadden maad; and the kyng distriede the auteris, whiche Manasses hadde maad in the twei grete placis of the temple of the Lord; and he ran fro thennus, and scateride the askis of tho in to the strond of Cedron.
13 Auch die Höhen, die gegenüber von Jerusalem, zur Rechten am Berge des Verderbens waren, welche Salomo, der König von Israel, der Astarte, dem Greuel der Zidonier, und Kamos, dem Greuel der Moabiter, und Milkom, dem Greuel der Kinder Ammon, gebaut hatte, verunreinigte der König.
Also the kyng defoulide the hiye thingis, that weren in Jerusalem at the riyt part of the hil of offencioun, whiche Salomon, kyng of Israel, hadde bildid to Astroth, the ydol of Sidoneis, and to Chamos, the offencioun of Moab, and to Melchon, abhominacioun of the sones of Amon;
14 Er zerbrach die Säulen und hieb die Ascheren um und füllte ihren Platz mit Menschengebeinen.
and he al to-brak ymagis, and kittide doun wodis, and fillide the places of tho with the boonys of deed men.
15 Desgleichen auch den Altar zu Bethel und die Höhe, die Jerobeam, der Sohn Nebats, der Israel zur Sünde verführte, erbaut hatte: auch diesen Altar und die Höhe brach er ab und verbrannte die Höhe und machte sie zu Staub und verbrannte die Aschera.
Ferthermore also he distriede the auter that was in Bethel, and `he distriede the hiye thing, which Jeroboam, sone of Nabath, hadde maad, that made Israel to do synne; and he distriede that hiy autir, and brente it, and al to brak it in to poudir, and kittide doun also the wode.
16 Und Josia sah sich um und erblickte die Gräber, welche dort auf dem Berge waren, und sandte hin und ließ die Gebeine aus den Gräbern nehmen und verbrannte sie auf dem Altar und verunreinigte ihn, nach dem Worte des HERRN, welches der Mann Gottes verkündigt hatte, als er solches ausrief.
And Josias turnyde, and siy there sepulcris that weren in the hil; and he sente, and took the boonys fro the sepulcris, and brente tho on the auter, and defoulide it bi the word of the Lord, which word the man of God spak, that biforseide these wordis.
17 Und er sprach: Was ist das für ein Grabmal, das ich hier sehe? Da sprachen die Leute der Stadt zu ihm: Es ist das Grab des Mannes Gottes, der von Juda kam, und diese Dinge, die du getan hast, wider den Altar zu Bethel ankündigte.
And the kyng seide, What is this biriel, which Y se? And the citeseyns of that citee answeriden to hym, It is the sepulcre of the man of God, that cam fro Juda, and biforseide these wordis, whiche thou hast doon on the auter of Bethel.
18 Da sprach er: So laßt ihn liegen; niemand rühre seine Gebeine an! Also blieben seine Gebeine erhalten, samt den Gebeinen des Propheten, der von Samaria gekommen war.
And the kyng seide, Suffre ye hym; no man moue hise boonys. And hise boonys dwelliden vntouchid with the boones of the prophete, that cam fro Samarie.
19 Josia beseitigte auch alle Höhenhäuser in den Städten Samarias, welche die Könige von Israel gemacht hatten, den HERRN zu erzürnen, und verfuhr mit ihnen ganz so, wie er zu Bethel getan hatte.
Ferthermore also Josias dide awei alle the templis of hiye thingis, that weren in the citees of Samarie, whiche the kyngis of Israel hadden maad to terre the Lord to ire; and he dide to tho templis bi alle thingis whiche he hadde do in Bethel.
20 Und er opferte alle Höhenpriester, die daselbst waren, auf den Altären; und verbrannte also Menschengebeine darauf und kehrte dann nach Jerusalem zurück.
And he killide alle the preestis of hiye thingis, that weren there on the auteris, and he brente mennus boonus on tho auteris; and he turnede ayen to Jerusalem;
21 Dann gebot der König allem Volk und sprach: Feiert dem HERRN, eurem Gott, das Passah, wie es in diesem Bundesbuch geschrieben steht!
and comaundide to al the puple, and seide, Make ye pask to `youre Lord God, vp that, that is writun in the book of this boond of pees.
22 Denn es war kein solches Passah gehalten worden, seit der Zeit der Richter, die Israel gerichtet hatten, und während der ganzen Zeit der Könige von Israel und der Könige von Juda;
Forsothe sich pask was not maad, fro the daies of iugis that demyden Israel, and of alle daies of the kyngis of Israel and of Juda,
23 erst im achtzehnten Jahre des Königs Josia ist dieses Passah dem HERRN zu Jerusalem gefeiert worden.
as this pask was maad to the Lord in Jerusalem in the eiytenthe yeer of kyng Josias.
24 Auch die Totenbeschwörer und Zeichendeuter, die Teraphim und Götzen und alle Greuel, die im Lande Juda und zu Jerusalem gesehen wurden, rottete Josia aus, um die Worte des Gesetzes zu vollstrecken, die geschrieben standen in dem Buche, welches der Priester Hilkia im Hause des HERRN gefunden hatte.
But also Josias dide awei men hauynge fendis spekinge in her wombis, and false diuinouris in auteris, and `he dide awei the figuris of idols, and alle vnclennessis, and abhomynaciouns, that weren in the lond of Juda and in Jerusalem, that he schulde do the wordis of the lawe, that weren writun in the book, `which book Elchie, the preest, foond in the temple of the Lord.
25 Und seinesgleichen ist vor ihm kein König gewesen, der sich also von ganzem Herzen und von ganzer Seele und mit allen seinen Kräften dem HERRN zuwandte, ganz nach dem Gesetze Moses; auch nach ihm ist keiner seinesgleichen aufgestanden.

26 Doch kehrte sich der HERR nicht von dem Grimm seines großen Zornes, womit er über Juda erzürnt war, um aller Ärgernisse willen, womit Manasse ihn gereizt hatte.
Netheles the Lord was not turned awei fro the ire of his greet veniaunce, bi which his strong veniaunce was wrooth ayens Juda, for the terryngis to ire by whiche Manasses hadde terrid hym to ire.
27 Denn der HERR sprach: Ich will auch Juda von meinem Angesicht hinwegtun, wie ich Israel hinweggetan habe, und ich will diese Stadt Jerusalem, die ich erwählt hatte, verwerfen, und das Haus, von dem ich gesagt habe: Mein Name soll daselbst sein!
Therfor the Lord seide, Y schal do awei also Juda fro my face, as Y dide awei Israel; and Y schal caste awei this citee, which Y chees, Jerusalem, and the hows `of which Y seide, My name schal be there.
28 Was aber mehr von Josia zu sagen ist, und alles, was er getan hat, ist das nicht geschrieben in der Chronik der Könige von Juda?
Forsothe the residue of wordis of Josias, and alle thingis whiche he dide, whether these ben not writun in the book of wordis of daies of the kyngis of Juda?
29 Zu seiner Zeit zog der Pharao Necho, der König von Ägypten, herauf wider den König von Assyrien an den Euphratstrom; dem zog der König Josia entgegen; aber der Pharao tötete ihn zu Megiddo, sowie er ihn gesehen hatte.
In the daies of hym Farao Nechao, kyng of Egipt, stiede ayens the kyng of Assiriens, to the flood Eufrates; and Josias, kyng of Juda, yede in to metyng of hym, and Josias was slayn in Magedo, whanne he hadde seyn hym.
30 Und seine Knechte führten ihn tot von Megiddo weg und brachten ihn nach Jerusalem und begruben ihn in seinem Grabe. Da nahm das Volk des Landes Joahas, den Sohn Josias, und sie salbten ihn und machten ihn zum König an seines Vaters Statt.
And `hise seruauntis baren hym deed fro Magedo, and brouyte him in to Jerusalem, and birieden hym in his sepulcre; and the puple of the lond took Joachaz, sone of Josias, and anoyntiden hym, and maden hym kyng for his fadir.
31 Dreiundzwanzig Jahre alt war Joahas, als er König ward, und regierte drei Monate lang zu Jerusalem. Seine Mutter hieß Hamutal, die Tochter Jeremias von Libna.
Joachaz was of thre and twenti yeer, whanne he bigan to regne, and he regnede thre monethis in Jerusalem; the name of his modir was Amychal, douyter of Jeremye of Lobna.
32 Er tat, was dem HERRN übel gefiel, ganz wie seine Väter getan hatten.
And he dide yuel bifor the Lord, bi alle thingis which hise fadris hadden do.
33 Aber der Pharao Necho nahm ihn gefangen zu Ribla, im Lande Chamat, so daß er nicht mehr König war zu Jerusalem; und legte eine Geldbuße auf das Land, hundert Talente Silber und ein Talent Gold.
And Farao Nechao boond hym in Reblatha, which is in the lond of Emath, that he schulde not regne in Jerusalem; and he settide `peyne, ether raunsum, to the lond, in an hundrid talentis of siluer, and in a talent of gold.
34 Und der Pharao Necho machte Eljakim, den Sohn Josias, zum König an Stelle seines Vaters Josia und veränderte seinen Namen in Jehojakim. Aber den Joahas nahm er und brachte ihn nach Ägypten, wo er starb.
And Farao Nechao made kyng Eliachim, sone of Josias, for Josias, his fadir; and he turnede the name of hym Joachym; forsothe Farao took Joachaz, and ledde hym in to Egipt.
35 Und Jehojakim gab das Silber und das Gold dem Pharao; doch schätzte er das Land ein, um das Silber nach dem Befehl des Pharao geben zu können; er zwang das Volk des Landes, daß ein jeder nach seiner Schätzung Silber und Gold dem Pharao Necho gäbe.
Sotheli Joachym yaf siluer and gold to Farao, whanne he hadde comaundid to the lond bi alle yeeris, that it schulde be brouyt, bi the comaundement of Farao; and he reiside of ech man bi hise myytis bothe siluer and gold, of the puple of the lond, that he schulde yyue to Pharao Nechao.
36 Fünfundzwanzig Jahre alt war Jehojakim, als er König ward, und regierte elf Jahre lang zu Jerusalem. Seine Mutter hieß Sebudda, die Tochter Pedajas von Ruma.
Joachym was of fyue and twenti yeer, whanne he bigan to regne, and he regnede eleuene yeer in Jerusalem; the name of his modir was Zebida, douyter of Phadaia of Ruma.
37 Und er tat, was dem HERRN übel gefiel, ganz wie seine Väter getan hatten.
And he dide yuel bifor the Lord, bi alle thingis which hise fadris hadden do.
