1 Im zwölften Jahre Ahas, des Königs von Juda, ward Hosea, der Sohn Elas, König über Israel zu Samaria, [und regierte] neun Jahre lang;
In the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah, began Hosea son of Elah to reign in Samaria, over Israel, [and he reigned] nine years.
2 und er tat, was dem HERRN übel gefiel, doch nicht wie die Könige von Israel, die vor ihm gewesen.
And he did the thing that was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh, —only, not like the kings of Israel who were before him.
3 Wider denselben zog Salmanassar, der König von Assyrien, herauf; und Hosea ward ihm untertan und zahlte ihm Tribut.
Against him, came up Shalmaneser king of Assyria, —and Hoshea became his servant, and rendered him a present.
4 Als aber der König von Assyrien erfuhr, daß Hosea eine Verschwörung gemacht und Boten zu So, dem König von Ägypten, gesandt und dem König von Assyrien nicht wie alle Jahre Tribut gezahlt hatte, verhaftete er ihn und legte ihn gebunden ins Gefängnis.
Then found the king of Assyria, in Hosea, a conspiracy, in that he had sent messengers unto So king of Egypt, and had not brought up a present to the king of Assyria, as [he had done] year by year, —therefore the king of Assyria shut him up, and bound him in prison.
5 Und der König von Assyrien durchzog das ganze Land und kam vor Samaria und belagerte es drei Jahre lang.
And the king of Assyria came up throughout all the land, —yea he came up to Samaria, and besieged it three years.
6 Im neunten Jahre Hoseas eroberte der König von Assyrien Samaria und führte Israel gefangen nach Assyrien und siedelte sie in Chalach und Chabor, am Flusse Gosan, und in den Städten der Meder an.
In the ninth year of Hoshea, did the king of Assyria capture Samaria, and carried Israel away captive to Assyria, —and settled them in Halah, and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and the mountains of Media.
7 Solches geschah darum, weil die Kinder Israel gesündigt hatten wider den HERRN, ihren Gott, der sie aus Ägyptenland, aus der Hand des Pharao, des Königs von Ägypten, geführt hatte, und weil sie andere Götter fürchteten
And thus it came to pass that Israel sinned against Yahweh their God, who brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, —yea they did reverence to other gods;
8 und nach den Satzungen der Heiden wandelten, welche der HERR vor den Kindern Israel vertrieben hatte, und nach [den Satzungen] der Könige von Israel, welche diese gemacht hatten.
and walked in the statutes of the nations, whom Yahweh had dispossessed from before the sons of Israel, —and [in the statutes] of the kings of Israel, which they had made.
9 So hatten die Kinder Israel wider den HERRN, ihren Gott, heimlich Dinge getrieben, die nicht recht waren: sie bauten sich Höhen an allen ihren Wohnorten, von den Wachttürmen bis zu den festen Städten,
And the sons of Israel did, secretly, things which were not right, against Yahweh their God, —and built for themselves high places in all their cities, from the watchmen’s tower, to the fortified city.
10 errichteten sich Säulen und Ascheren auf allen hohen Hügeln und unter allen grünen Bäumen,
And they set up for themselves pillars and Sacred Stems, upon every high hill, and under every green tree;
11 räucherten auf allen Höhen wie die Heiden, welche der HERR vor ihnen vertrieben hatte, und trieben böse Dinge und erzürnten damit den HERRN,
and burned incense there, in all the high places, like the nations whom Yahweh drave out from before them, —and did things that were wicked, so as to provoke Yahweh to anger;
12 und sie dienten den Götzen, wovon der HERR ihnen gesagt hatte: Ihr sollt solches nicht tun!
and they served the manufactured gods, as to which Yahweh had said to them, Ye shall not do this thing.
13 Ja, wenn der HERR gegen Israel und Juda durch alle Propheten und alle Seher zeugte, indem er ihnen sagen ließ: Wendet euch ab von euren bösen Wegen und haltet meine Gebote und meine Satzungen nach all dem Gesetz, das ich euren Vätern geboten habe und das ich durch meine Knechte, die Propheten, zu euch gesandt habe,
And Yahweh testified against Israel and against Judah, through all his prophets—every one who had a vision, saying—Turn ye from your wicked ways, and keep my commandments, my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers; and which I sent unto you through my servants the prophets.
14 so gehorchten sie nicht, sondern machten ihren Nacken hart, gleich dem Nacken ihrer Väter, die nicht an den HERRN, ihren Gott, geglaubt hatten.
Howbeit they hearkened not, —but stiffened their neck, like the neck of their fathers, who trusted not in Yahweh their God;
15 Dazu verachteten sie seine Satzungen und seinen Bund, den er mit ihren Vätern geschlossen, und seine Zeugnisse, die er wider sie abgelegt hatte; und wandelten der Eitelkeit nach und wurden eitel; und folgten den Heiden nach, die um sie her wohnten, betreffs derer der HERR ihnen geboten hatte, sie sollten nicht tun wie diese.
but rejected his statutes, and his covenant, which he solemnised with their fathers, and his testimonies wherewith he testified against them, —and followed vanity, and became vain, and followed the nations that were round about them, as to whom Yahweh charged them, so that they should not do like them.
16 Aber sie verließen alle Gebote des HERRN, ihres Gottes, und machten sich zwei gegossene Kälber und machten Ascheren und beteten das ganze Heer des Himmels an und dienten dem Baal;
But they forsook all the commandments of Yahweh their God, and made for themselves something molten—two calves, and made a Sacred Stem, and bowed themselves down to all the army of the heavens, and served Baal;
17 und ließen ihre Söhne und ihre Töchter durchs Feuer gehen und gaben sich ab mit Wahrsagen und Zeichendeuterei und verkauften sich, zu tun, was böse war in den Augen des HERRN, um ihn zu erzürnen.
and made their sons and their daughters pass through the fire, and used divinations and enchantments, and sold themselves to do the thing that was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh, provoking him to wrath.
18 Da ward der HERR zornig über Israel und tat sie von seinem Angesicht weg, so daß nur der Stamm Juda übrigblieb.
So Yahweh shewed himself exceeding angry with Israel, and removed them from his presence, —there was none left, save the tribe of Judah, alone.
19 Aber auch Juda beobachtete die Gebote des HERRN, seines Gottes, nicht, sondern wandelte nach den Gebräuchen Israels, die sie getan hatten.
Even Judah, kept not the commandments of Yahweh their God, —but walked in the statutes of Israel, which they had made.
20 Darum verwarf der HERR den ganzen Samen Israels und demütigte sie und gab sie in die Hände der Räuber, bis er sie von seinem Angesicht verstieß.
So Yahweh rejected all the seed of Israel, and humiliated them, and delivered them into the hand of spoilers, —until he had cast them out from his presence;
21 Denn Israel hatte sich vom Hause Davids losgerissen und hatte Jerobeam, den Sohn Nebats, zum König gemacht; und Jerobeam wandte Israel ab von der Nachfolge des HERRN und verführte es zu schwerer Sünde;
for he rent Israel away from the house of David, and they made Jeroboam son of Nebat, king, —and Jeroboam thrust away Israel from following Yahweh, and caused them to commit a great sin.
22 und die Kinder Israel wandelten in allen Sünden Jerobeams, die er getan hatte, und ließen nicht davon,
And the sons of Israel walked in all the sins of Jeroboam which he had committed, —they turned not away therefrom;
23 bis der HERR Israel von seinem Angesicht verwarf, wie er durch alle seine Knechte, die Propheten, gesagt hatte. Also ward Israel aus seinem Lande nach Assyrien weggeführt, bis auf diesen Tag.
until that Yahweh removed Israel from his presence, according as he spake through all his servants the prophets, —and so Israel was driven away from off their own soil, to Assyria, until this day.
24 Aber der König von Assyrien ließ Leute von Babel, Kuta, Awa, Chamat und Sepharwaim kommen und siedelte sie an Stelle der Kinder Israel in den Städten Samarias an. Und sie nahmen Samaria ein und wohnten in dessen Städten.
And the king of Assyria brought [men] from Babylon, and from Cuthah, and from Avvah, and from Hamath, and [from] Sepharvaim, and caused them to dwell in the cities of Samaria, instead of the sons of Israel, —so they took possession of Samaria, and dwelt in the cities thereof.
25 Als sie aber anfingen daselbst zu wohnen und den HERRN nicht fürchteten, sandte der HERR Löwen unter sie; die richteten Verheerung unter ihnen an.
And so it was, that, when they first dwelt there, they revered not Yahweh, —therefore Yahweh sent among them, lions, which were slaying them.
26 Darum ließen sie dem König von Assyrien sagen: Die Völker, welche du hergebracht und in den Städten Samarias angesiedelt hast, kennen das Recht des Landesgottes nicht, darum hat er Löwen unter sie gesandt; und siehe, diese töten sie, weil sie das Recht des Landesgottes nicht kennen!
Therefore spake they unto the king of Assyria, saying, The nations whom thou hast removed and settled in the cities of Samaria, know not the custom of the God of the land, —and he hath sent among them lions, and lo! they are slaying them, because they know not the custom of the God of the land.
27 Da befahl der König von Assyrien und sprach: Bringet einen der Priester dahin, die ihr von dort weggeführt habt; der soll hinziehen und daselbst wohnen; und er soll sie das Recht des Landesgottes lehren!
So the king of Assyria commanded, saying—Carry thither, one of the priests, whom ye brought away captive from thence, that they may go, and dwell there, —and teach them the custom of the God of the land.
28 Da kam einer von den Priestern, die sie von Samaria weggeführt hatten, und ließ sich zu Bethel nieder und lehrte sie, wie sie den HERRN fürchten sollten.
Then came one of the priests whom they had carried away captive from Samaria, and dwelt in Bethel, —and he began teaching them how they should do reverence unto Yahweh.
29 Aber ein jedes Volk machte seine eigenen Götter und tat sie in die Höhenhäuser, welche die Samariter gemacht hatten.
Howbeit the nations severally were making their own gods, —and did put them in the houses of the high places, which, the Samaritans, had made, each several nation, in their cities wherein, they, were dwelling.
30 Die Leute von Babel machten Sukkot-Benot, und die Leute von Kut machten Nergal, und die Leute von Charmat machten Aschima;
So then, the men of Babylon, made Succoth-benoth, and, the men of Cuth, made Nergal, and, the men of Hamath, made Ashima:
31 und die von Awa machten Nibchas und Tartak; aber die von Sepharwaim verbrannten ihre Söhne mit Feuer dem Adrammelech und dem Anammelech, den Göttern von Sepharwaim.
and, the Avvites, made Nibhaz and Tartak, and, the Sepharvites, did consume their sons in the fire, to Adrammelech and Anammelech gods of Sepharvaim.
32 Doch verehrten sie auch den HERRN und bestellten sich Höhenpriester aus dem gesamten Volk, die für sie in den Höhenhäusern opferten.
Thus became they reverers of Yahweh, —and yet made for themselves, from the whole compass of them, priests of high places, who became offerers for them in the house of the high places.
33 Also verehrten sie den HERRN und dienten auch ihren Göttern nach der Gewohnheit eines jeden Volkes, von welchem sie hergebracht waren.
Yahweh, were they revering, —and yet, their own gods, were they serving, according to the custom of the nations from whence they had brought them away captive.
34 Und bis auf diesen Tag tun sie nach der früheren Weise; sie fürchten den HERRN nicht; sie tun auch nicht nach ihren Satzungen und Ordnungen, noch nach dem Gesetz und Gebot, welches der HERR den Kindern Jakobs geboten hat, dem er den Namen Israel gab.
Unto this day, are they offering according to the former customs, —they are not revering Yahweh, neither are they offering after their own statutes, or their own custom, nor yet after the law and the commandment which Yahweh commanded the sons of Jacob, whose name he made to be Israel:
35 Und doch hat der HERR mit ihnen einen Bund gemacht und ihnen geboten und gesagt: Fürchtet keine anderen Götter, betet sie nicht an, dienet ihnen nicht und opfert ihnen nicht,
With, whom, Yahweh solemnised a covenant, and commanded them saying—Ye shall not revere other gods, —nor bow down to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them;
36 sondern den HERRN, der euch mit großer Kraft und ausgestrecktem Arm aus Ägyptenland geführt hat, den sollt ihr fürchten, ihn betet an, ihm sollt ihr opfern!
But, Yahweh—who brought you up out of the land of Egypt, with great might, and with arm outstretched, him, shall ye revere, —and to him, shall ye bow down, and to him, shall ye sacrifice;
37 Die Satzungen, Rechte, Gesetze und Gebote, die er euch vorgeschrieben hat, sollt ihr beobachten, daß ihr darnach tuet immerdar; und fürchtet nicht andere Götter!
And, the statutes and the regulations, and the law and the commandment, which he wrote for you, shall ye surely observe to do, continually, —So shall ye not revere other gods;
38 Und den Bund, den ich mit euch geschlossen habe, vergesset nicht und fürchtet nicht andere Götter,
But, the covenant which I have solemnised with you, shall ye not forget, —So shall ye not revere other gods;
39 sondern fürchtet den HERRN, euren Gott, der wird euch von der Hand aller eurer Feinde erretten!
But, Yahweh your God, shall ye revere, —then will, he, deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies.
40 Aber sie gehorchten nicht, sondern tun nach ihrer früheren Weise.
Howbeit they hearkened not, —but, according to their own former custom, were they offering.
41 So kam es, daß diese Völker den HERRN verehrten und zugleich ihren Götzen dienten; auch ihre Kinder und ihre Kindeskinder tun so, wie ihre Väter getan haben, bis auf diesen Tag.
Thus were these nations doing reverence unto Yahweh, and yet, unto their own carved images, were they rendering service, —yea, their sons and their son’s sons, as the fathers offered, so are, they, offering until this day.
