1 Im dreiundzwanzigsten Jahre des Joas, des Sohnes Ahasias, des Königs von Juda, ward Joahas, der Sohn Jehus, König über Israel zu Samaria, [und regierte] siebzehn Jahre lang.
In the twenty and third year of Joash son of Ahaziah king of Judah, hath Jehoahaz son of Jehu reigned over Israel, in Samaria — seventeen years,
2 Er tat, was böse war in den Augen des HERRN, und wandelte in den Sünden Jerobeams, des Sohnes Nebats, der Israel zur Sünde verführt hatte, und ließ nicht davon.
and he doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, and goeth after the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, that he caused Israel to sin — he turned not aside from it,
3 Deswegen ergrimmte der Zorn des HERRN über Israel, und er gab sie in die Hand Hasaels, des Königs von Syrien, und in die Hand Benhadads, des Sohnes Hasaels, ihr Leben lang.
and the anger of Jehovah burneth against Israel, and He giveth them into the hand of Hazael king of Aram, and into the hand of Ben-Hadad son of Hazael, all the days.
4 Aber Joahas besänftigte das Angesicht des HERRN, und der HERR erhörte ihn; denn er sah die Bedrängnis Israels, wie der König von Syrien sie bedrängte.
And Jehoahaz appeaseth the face of Jehovah, and Jehovah hearkeneth unto him, for He hath seen the oppression of Israel, for oppressed them hath the king of Aram, —
5 Und der HERR gab Israel einen Helfer, und sie kamen aus der Gewalt der Syrer, und die Kinder Israel wohnten in ihren Hütten wie zuvor.
and Jehovah giveth to Israel a saviour, and they go out from under the hand of Aram, and the sons of Israel dwell in their tents as heretofore;
6 Doch ließen sie nicht von den Sünden, zu denen das Haus Jerobeams Israel verführt hatte, sondern wandelten darin. Auch blieb die Aschera in Samaria stehen.
only, they have not turned aside from the sins of the house of Jeroboam, that he caused Israel to sin, therein they walked, and also, the shrine hath remained in Samaria, —
7 Von dem Kriegsvolke ließ [der HERR] dem Joahas nicht mehr übrig als fünfzig Reiter, zehn Wagen und zehntausend Mann Fußvolk; denn der König von Syrien hatte sie vertilgt und sie gemacht wie Staub beim Dreschen.
for he left not to Jehoahaz of the people except fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen, for the king of Aram hath destroyed them, and maketh them as dust for threshing.
8 Was aber mehr von Joahas zu sagen ist, und alles, was er getan hat, und seine Macht, ist das nicht geschrieben in der Chronik der Könige von Israel?
And the rest of the matters of Jehoahaz, and all that he did, and his might, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Israel?
9 Und Joahas entschlief mit seinen Vätern, und man begrub ihn zu Samaria, und Joas, sein Sohn, ward König an seiner Statt.
And Jehoahaz lieth with his fathers, and they bury him in Samaria, and reign doth Joash his son in his stead.
10 Im siebenunddreißigsten Jahre des Königs Joas von Juda ward Joas, der Sohn des Joahas, König über Israel zu Samaria, [und regierte] sechzehn Jahre lang.
In the thirty and seventh year of Joash king of Judah reigned hath Jehoash son of Jehoahaz over Israel, in Samaria — sixteen years,
11 Und er tat, was böse war in den Augen des HERRN, und ließ nicht ab von allen Sünden, zu denen Jerobeam, der Sohn Nebats, Israel verführt hatte, sondern wandelte darin.
and he doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, he hath not turned aside from all the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, that he caused Israel to sin, therein he walked.
12 Was aber mehr von Joas zu sagen ist und was er getan hat, und seine Macht, wie er mit Amazia, dem König von Juda, gestritten, ist das nicht geschrieben in der Chronik der Könige von Israel?
And the rest of the matters of Joash, and all that he did, and his might with which he fought with Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Israel?
13 Und Joas legte sich zu seinen Vätern, und Jerobeam setzte sich auf seinen Thron. Und Joas ward zu Samaria bei den Königen von Israel begraben.
And Joash lieth with his fathers, and Jeroboam hath sat on his throne, and Joash is buried in Samaria, with the kings of Israel.
14 Elisa aber ward von der Krankheit befallen, an der er sterben sollte. Und Joas, der König von Israel, kam zu ihm hinab, weinte vor ihm und sprach: O mein Vater, mein Vater! Wagen Israels und seine Reiter!
And Elisha hath been sick with his sickness in which he dieth, and come down unto him doth Joash king of Israel, and weepeth on his face, and saith, 'My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and its horsemen.'
15 Elisa aber sprach zu ihm: Nimm den Bogen und die Pfeile! Und als er den Bogen und die Pfeile nahm,
And Elisha saith to him, 'Take bow and arrows:' and he taketh unto him bow and arrows.
16 sprach Elisa zum König von Israel: Spanne mit deiner Hand den Bogen! Und er spannte ihn mit seiner Hand. Und Elisa legte seine Hände auf die Hände des Königs und sprach:
And he saith to the king of Israel, 'Place thy hand on the bow;' and he placeth his hand, and Elisha putteth his hands on the hands of the king,
17 Tue das Fenster auf gegen Morgen! Und er tat es auf. Und Elisa sprach: Schieße! Und er schoß. Er aber sprach: Ein Pfeil des Heils vom HERRN, ein Pfeil des Heils wider die Syrer! Du wirst die Syrer schlagen zu Aphek, bis sie aufgerieben sind!
and saith, 'Open the window eastward;' and he openeth, and Elisha saith, 'Shoot,' and he shooteth; and he saith, 'An arrow of salvation to Jehovah, and an arrow of salvation against Aram, and thou hast smitten Aram, in Aphek, till consuming.'
18 Und er sprach: Nimm die Pfeile! Und als er sie nahm, sprach er zum König von Israel: Schlage auf die Erde! Da schlug er dreimal und hielt inne.
And he saith, 'Take the arrows,' and he taketh; and he saith to the king of Israel, 'Smite to the earth;' and he smiteth three times, and stayeth.
19 Da ward der Mann Gottes zornig über ihn und sprach: Hättest du fünf oder sechsmal geschlagen, so würdest du die Syrer bis zur Vernichtung geschlagen haben; nun aber wirst du die Syrer nur dreimal schlagen!
And the man of God is wroth against him, and saith, 'By smiting five or six times then thou hadst smitten Aram till consuming; and now, three times thou dost smite Aram.'
20 Und Elisa starb und ward begraben. Im folgenden Jahre fielen die Streifscharen der Moabiter ins Land.
And Elisha dieth, and they bury him, and troops of Moab come in to the land, at the coming in of the year,
21 Und es begab sich, als man einen Mann begrub, sahen sie plötzlich die Streifschar [kommen]; da warfen sie den Mann in Elisas Grab. Und sobald der Mann die Gebeine Elisas berührte, ward er lebendig und stand auf seine Füße.
and it cometh to pass, they are burying a man, and lo, they have seen the troop, and cast the man into the grave of Elisha, and the man goeth and cometh against the bones of Elisha, and liveth, and riseth on his feet.
22 Hasael aber, der König von Syrien, bedrängte Israel, solange Joahas lebte.
And Hazael king of Aram hath oppressed Israel all the days of Jehoahaz,
23 Aber der HERR war ihnen gnädig und erbarmte sich ihrer und wandte sich zu ihnen um seines Bundes willen mit Abraham, Isaak und Jakob; er wollte sie nicht verderben und hatte sie bis dahin noch nicht von seinem Angesichte verworfen.
and Jehovah doth favour them, and pity them, and turn unto them, for the sake of His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and hath not been willing to destroy them, nor to cast them from His presence as yet.
24 Und Hasael, der König von Syrien, starb, und sein Sohn Benhadad ward König an seiner Statt.
And Hazael king of Aram dieth, and reign doth Ben-Hadad his son in his stead,
25 Joas aber, der Sohn des Joahas, entriß der Hand Benhadads, des Sohnes Hasaels, die Städte wieder, die dieser im Krieg aus der Hand seines Vaters Joahas genommen hatte; dreimal schlug ihn Joas und eroberte die Städte Israels zurück.
and Jehoash son of Jehoahaz turneth and taketh the cities out of the hand of Ben-Hadad son of Hazael that he had taken out of the hand of Jehoahaz his father in war; three times hath Joash smitten him, and he bringeth back the cities of Israel.
