2 Korinther 1

1 Paulus, Apostel Jesu Christi durch Gottes Willen, und Timotheus, der Bruder, an die Gemeinde Gottes, die in Korinth ist, samt allen Heiligen, die in ganz Achaja sind:

Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ, by the will of God, and Timothy my brother, to the church of God which is in Corinth, with all the saints that are in all Achaia:

2 Gnade sei mit euch und Friede von Gott, unsrem Vater und dem Herrn Jesus Christus!

grace be to you and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

3 Gelobt sei der Gott und Vater unsres Herrn Jesus Christus, der Vater der Barmherzigkeit und Gott alles Trostes,

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort,

4 der uns tröstet in all unsrer Trübsal, auf daß wir die trösten können, welche in allerlei Trübsal sind, durch den Trost, mit dem wir selbst von Gott getröstet werden.

who con soles us in all our afflictions, so that we are able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

5 Denn gleichwie die Leiden Christi sich reichlich über uns ergießen, so fließt auch durch Christus reichlich unser Trost.

For as the sufferings for the Christ abound in us, so also through Christ abounds our consolation.

6 Haben wir Trübsal, so geschieht es zu eurem Trost und Heil; werden wir getröstet, so geschieht es zu eurem Trost, der sich kräftig erweist in standhafter Erduldung derselben Leiden, welche auch wir leiden, und unsre Hoffnung für euch ist fest;

And if we are afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which salvation is effected by your patient endurance of the same sufferings that we also suffer; (and our hope in you is steadfast; ) or if we are consoled, it is for your comfort and salvation;

7 denn wir wissen, daß, gleichwie ihr der Leiden teilhaftig seid, so auch des Trostes.

because we know, that as you are partakers of the sufferings, so also you shall be partakers of the comfort.

8 Denn wir wollen euch, Brüder, nicht in Unkenntnis lassen über die Trübsal, die uns in Asien widerfahren ist, daß wir übermäßig schwer zu tragen hatten, über Vermögen, so daß wir selbst am Leben verzweifelten;

For we do not wish you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning our affliction which came upon us in Asia, that we were exceedingly oppressed, beyond our strength, so that we despaired even of life.

9 ja wir hatten bei uns selbst schon das Todesurteil über uns gefällt, damit wir nicht auf uns selbst vertrauten, sondern auf den Gott, der die Toten auferweckt.

But we have in ourselves the sentence of death, that we may not trust in ourselves, but in God, who raises the dead;

10 Er hat uns denn auch von solchem Tod errettet und rettet uns noch, und wir hoffen auf ihn, daß er uns auch ferner erretten wird,

who delivered us from so great a death, and does still deliver us: in whom we have confidence, that he will continue to deliver us,

11 vorausgesetzt, daß auch ihr uns behilflich seid durch eure Fürbitte, damit für die von vielen Personen für uns erbetene Gnadengabe auch von vielen gedankt werde für uns.

if you also unite in prayer for our aid, that the favor bestowed on us, through the intercession of many persons, may cause thanks to be given by many for us.

12 Denn unser Ruhm ist der: das Zeugnis unsres Gewissens, daß wir in Einfalt und göttlicher Lauterkeit, nicht in fleischlicher Weisheit, sondern in göttlicher Gnade gewandelt sind in der Welt, allermeist aber bei euch.

For the ground of our rejoicing is this: the testimony of our conscience that we have lived in the world more―abundantly, indeed, for you―in sincerity and godly purity, not in carnal wisdom, but in the grace of God.

13 Denn wir schreiben euch nichts anderes, als was ihr leset oder auch erkennet;

For we write to you nothing else than what you recognize, or even acknowledge; and which I hope you will acknowledge to the end;

14 ich hoffe aber, daß ihr uns bis ans Ende so erkennen werdet, wie ihr uns zum Teil schon kennen gelernt habt, nämlich daß wir euch zum Ruhm gereichen, gleichwie auch ihr uns, am Tage unsres Herrn Jesus.

as some of you also acknowledge us, that we are the cause of your rejoicing, even as you, also, are of ours, in the day of the Lord Jesus.

15 In dieser Zuversicht beabsichtigte ich, zuerst zu euch zu kommen, damit ihr eine doppelte Gunst empfinget;

And in this confidence I intended to go to you before, that you might have a second benefit;

16 und über eure Stadt wollte ich dann nach Mazedonien ziehen und von Mazedonien wieder zu euch kommen, um von euch nach Judäa geleitet zu werden.

and by you, to pass through into Macedonia, and to come again to you from Macedonia, and be conducted by you into Judea.

17 Habe ich nun mit Leichtfertigkeit gehandelt, als ich diesen Reiseplan entwarf? Oder mache ich überhaupt meine Pläne nach dem Fleisch, so daß bei mir das Ja Ja auch Nein Nein wäre?

In forming this purpose, did I, therefore, behave with levity? or do I purpose what I purpose, according to the flesh, that there may be with me, yes yes, and no, no?

18 Gott aber ist treu, daß unser Wort an euch nicht Ja und Nein ist!

But God is true; for our preaching to you was not yes and no:

19 Denn der Sohn Gottes, Jesus Christus, der unter euch durch uns gepredigt worden ist, durch mich und Silvanus und Timotheus, der war nicht Ja und Nein, sondern in ihm ist das Ja geworden;

for the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, by me and Sylvanus and Timothy, was not yes and no, but in him was yes.

20 denn soviele Gottesverheißungen es gibt, in ihm ist das Ja, und deshalb durch ihn auch das Amen, Gott zum Lobe durch uns!

For whatever promises of God there are, are in him yes, and in him amen, to the glory of God by us.

21 Der Gott aber, der uns samt euch für Christus befestigt und uns gesalbt hat,

For he who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, is God,

22 der hat uns auch versiegelt und in unsre Herzen das Pfand des Geistes gegeben.

who has also set his seal upon us, and given us the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.

23 Ich berufe mich aber auf Gott als Zeugen für meine Seele, daß ich, um euch zu schonen, noch nicht nach Korinth gekommen bin.

But I call on God as a witness against my soul, that wishing to spare you, I did not go to Corinth;

24 Denn wir wollen nicht Herren sein über euren Glauben, sondern Gehilfen eurer Freude; denn ihr stehet im Glauben.

not that we are lords over your faith, but fellow-workers for your joy: for by faith you stand.
