2 Chronik 18

1 Als nun Josaphat großen Reichtum und Ehre erlangt hatte, verschwägerte er sich mit Ahab.

And Iehoshaphat had riches and honour in abundance, but he was ioyned in affinitie with Ahab.

2 Und nach etlichen Jahren zog er zu Ahab hinab, nach Samaria. Und Ahab ließ für ihn und das Volk, das bei ihm war, viele Schafe und Rinder schlachten und beredete ihn, gen Ramot in Gilead hinaufzuziehen.

And after certaine yeeres he went downe to Ahab to Samaria: and Ahab slew sheepe and oxen for him in great nomber, and for the people that he had with him, and entised him to goe vp vnto Ramoth Gilead.

3 Denn Ahab, der König von Israel, sprach zu Josaphat, dem König von Juda: Willst du mit mir nach Ramot in Gilead hinaufziehen? Er sprach zu ihm: Ich will sein wie du, und mein Volk wie dein Volk, und ich will mit dir in den Krieg.

And Ahab King of Israel saide vnto Iehoshaphat King of Iudah, Wilt thou goe with mee to Ramoth Gilead? And hee answered him, I am as thou art, and my people as thy people, and wee will ioyne with thee in the warre.

4 Aber Josaphat sprach zum König von Israel: Befrage doch heute das Wort des HERRN!

And Iehoshaphat sayde vnto the King of Israel, Aske counsel, I pray thee, at the worde of the Lord this day.

5 Da versammelte der König von Israel die Propheten, vierhundert Mann, und sprach zu ihnen: Sollen wir gen Ramot in Gilead in den Krieg ziehen, oder soll ich es unterlassen? Sie sprachen: Ziehe hinauf, denn Gott wird sie in die Hand des Königs geben!

Therefore the King of Israel gathered of Prophets foure hundreth men, and sayde vnto them, Shall we goe to Ramoth Gilead to battel, or shall I cease? And they sayd, Go vp: for God shall deliuer it into the Kings hand.

6 Josaphat aber sprach: Ist hier kein Prophet des HERRN mehr, daß wir durch ihn fragen könnten?

But Iehoshaphat sayde, Is there heere neuer a Prophet more of the Lord that wee might inquire of him?

7 Der König von Israel sprach zu Josaphat: Es ist noch ein Mann, durch den man den HERRN fragen kann; aber ich bin ihm gram, denn er weissagt mir nichts Gutes, sondern immer nur Böses; das ist Michaja, der Sohn Jimlas. Josaphat sprach: Der König rede nicht also!

And the King of Israel sayd vnto Iehoshaphat, There is yet one man, by whome wee may aske counsell of the Lord, but I hate him: for he doeth not prophesie good vnto me, but alway euil: it is Michaiah the sonne of Imla. Then Iehoshaphat said, Let not the King say so.

8 Da rief der König von Israel einen seiner Kämmerer und sprach: Bringe eilends her Michaja, den Sohn Jimlas!

And the King of Israel called an eunuche, and said, Call quickly Michaiah the sonne of Imla.

9 Und der König von Israel und Josaphat, der König von Juda, saßen ein jeder auf seinem Throne, mit königlichen Kleidern angetan. Sie saßen aber auf dem Platze vor dem Tor zu Samaria, und alle Propheten weissagten vor ihnen.

And the King of Israel, and Iehoshaphat King of Iudah sate either of them on his throne clothed in their apparel: they sate euen in the threshing floore at the entring in of the gate of Samaria: and all the Prophets prophesied before them.

10 Und Zedekia, der Sohn Kenaanas, machte sich eiserne Hörner und sprach: So spricht der HERR: Hiermit wirst du die Syrer stoßen, bis sie aufgerieben sind!

And Zidkiah ye sonne of Chenaanah made him hornes of yron, and sayde, Thus sayth the Lord, With these shalt thou push the Aramites vntill thou hast consumed them.

11 Und alle Propheten weissagten auch also und sprachen: Ziehe hinauf gen Ramot in Gilead, und es wird dir wohlgehen! Der HERR wird es in die Hand des Königs geben!

And all the Prophets prophesied so, saying, Go vp to Ramoth Gilead, and prosper: for the Lord shall deliuer it into the hand of the King.

12 Und der Bote, der hingegangen war, Michaja zu rufen, redete mit ihm und sprach: Siehe, die Reden der Propheten sind einstimmig gut für den König. So laß nun dein Wort auch sein wie das ihre und rede Gutes!

And the messenger that went to call Michaiah, spake to him, saying, Beholde, the wordes of the Prophets declare good to the King with one accord: let thy word therefore, I pray thee, be like one of theirs, and speake thou good.

13 Michaja aber sprach: So wahr der HERR lebt: was mein Gott sagen wird, das will ich reden!

And Michaiah saide, As the Lord liueth, whatsoeuer my God saith, that will I speake.

14 Und als er zum König kam, sprach der König zu ihm: Micha, sollen wir gen Ramot in Gilead in den Krieg ziehen, oder soll ich es unterlassen? Er sprach: Ziehet hinauf und fahret wohl; sie sollen in eure Hände gegeben werden!

So he came to the King, and the King said vnto him, Michaiah, shall we go to Ramoth Gilead to battel, or shall I leaue off? And he said, Goe yee vp, and prosper, and they shalbe deliuered into your hand.

15 Aber der König sprach zu ihm: Wie oft muß ich dich beschwören, daß du mir nichts als die Wahrheit sagest im Namen des HERRN?

And the King sayd to him, Howe oft shall I charge thee, that thou tell mee nothing but the trueth in the Name of the Lord?

16 Da sprach er: Ich sah ganz Israel auf den Bergen zerstreut, wie Schafe, die keinen Hirten haben. Und der HERR sprach: Diese haben keinen Herrn; ein jeder kehre wieder heim in Frieden!

Then he said, I saw al Israel scattered in the mountaines, as sheepe that haue no shepheard: and the Lord sayd, These haue no Master: let them returne euery man to his house in peace.

17 Da sprach der König von Israel zu Josaphat: Sagte ich dir nicht, er weissage mir nichts Gutes, sondern nur Böses?

And the King of Israel sayde to Iehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee, that he would not prophesie good vnto me, but euill?

18 Er aber sprach: Darum höret das Wort des HERRN: Ich sah den HERRN auf seinem Throne sitzen, und das ganze Heer des Himmels stand zu seiner Rechten und zu seiner Linken.

Againe hee saide, Therefore heare ye the worde of the Lord: I sawe the Lord sit vpon his throne, and all the hoste of heauen standing at his right hand, and at his left.

19 Und der HERR sprach: Wer will Ahab, den König von Israel, betören, daß er hinaufziehe und falle zu Ramot in Gilead?

And the Lord sayd, Who shall perswade Ahab King of Israel, that he may go vp, and fall at Ramoth Gilead? And one spake and said thus, and another said that.

20 Und nachdem der eine dies, der andere das gesagt hatte, kam ein Geist hervor und trat vor den HERRN und sprach: Ich will ihn betören! Der HERR aber sprach zu ihm: Womit?

Then there came forth a spirit and stoode before the Lord, and said, I will perswade him. And the Lord said vnto him, Wherein?

21 Er sprach: Ich will ausgehen und ein Geist der Lüge sein im Munde aller seiner Propheten! Da sprach er: Du sollst ihn betören, und du wirst es auch vermögen! Gehe aus und tue also!

And he saide, I will goe out, and bee a false spirit in the mouth of all his Prophets. And hee said, Thou shalt perswade, and shalt also preuaile: goe forth and do so.

22 Und nun siehe, der HERR hat einen Geist der Lüge in den Mund dieser deiner Propheten gelegt; und der HERR hat Unglück über dich beschlossen.

Now therefore behold, the Lord hath put a false spirit in the mouth of these thy Prophets, and the Lord hath determined euill against thee.

23 Da trat Zedekia, der Sohn Kenaanas, herzu und schlug Michaja auf den Backen und sprach: Auf welchem Weg ist der Geist des HERRN von mir gewichen, um mit dir zu reden?

Then Zidkiah the sonne of Chenaanah came neere, and smote Michaiah vpon the cheeke, and sayde, By what way went the Spirit of the Lord from me, to speake with thee?

24 Michaja sprach: Siehe, du wirst es sehen an dem Tage, wenn du von einem Gemach in das andere laufen wirst, um dich zu verbergen!

And Michaiah saide, Behold, thou shalt see that day when thou shalt goe from chamber to chamber to hide thee.

25 Da sprach der König von Israel: Nehmt Michaja und bringet ihn wiederum zu Amon, dem Obersten der Stadt, und zu Joas, dem Sohn des Königs,

And the King of Israel sayde, Take ye Michaiah, and cary him to Amon the gouernour of the citie, and to Ioash the Kings sonne,

26 und saget: So spricht der König: Legt diesen ins Gefängnis und speiset ihn mit Brot der Trübsal und mit Wasser der Trübsal, bis ich in Frieden wiederkomme!

And say, Thus saith the King, Put this man in the prison house, and feede him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction vntil I returne in peace.

27 Michaja sprach: Kommst du in Frieden wieder, so hat der HERR nicht durch mich geredet! Und er sprach noch: Höret zu, ihr Völker alle!

And Michaiah said, If thou returne in peace, the Lord hath not spoken by me. And he saide, Heare, all ye people.

28 Also zogen der König von Israel und Josaphat, der König von Juda, hinauf gen Ramot in Gilead.

So the King of Israel and Iehoshaphat the King of Iudah went vp to Ramoth Gilead.

29 Und der König von Israel sprach zu Josaphat: Ich will verkleidet in den Kampf ziehen; du aber bekleide dich mit deinen Kleidern! Und der König von Israel verkleidete sich, und sie zogen in den Kampf.

And the King of Israel said vnto Iehoshaphat, I will change my selfe, and enter into the battel: but put thou on thine apparel. So the King of Israel changed himselfe, and they went into the battel.

30 Aber der König von Syrien hatte den Obersten über seine Wagen ausdrücklich geboten: Ihr sollt weder gegen Kleine noch Große streiten, sondern allein gegen den König von Israel!

And the King of Aram had commanded the captaines of the charets that were with him, saying, Fight you not with small, nor great, but against the King of Israel onely.

31 Als nun die Obersten der Wagen Josaphat sahen, dachten sie: «Das ist der König von Israel!» und gingen auf ihn los zum Kampf. Aber Josaphat schrie, und der HERR half ihm; und Gott lockte sie von ihm weg.

And when the captaines of the charets saw Iehoshaphat, they sayde, It is the King of Israel: and they compassed about him to fight. But Iehoshaphat cryed, and the Lord helped him and moued them to depart from him.

32 Als nun die Obersten der Wagen sahen, daß er nicht der König von Israel sei, wandten sie sich von ihm ab.

For when the captaines of the charets saw that hee was not the King of Israel, they turned backe from him.

33 Aber ein Mann spannte seinen Bogen von ungefähr und traf den König von Israel zwischen den Fugen des Panzers. Da sprach er zu seinem Wagenlenker: Wende um und führe mich aus dem Heer; denn ich bin verwundet!

Then a certaine man drewe a bowe mightily, and smote the King of Israel betweene the ioyntes of his brigandine: Therefore he saide to his charetman, Turne thine hand, and carie mee out of the host: for I am hurt.

34 Aber der Kampf ward heftiger an jenem Tag. Und der König von Israel stand auf seinem Wagen den Syrern gegenüber, bis zum Abend, und er starb zur Zeit des Sonnenuntergangs.

And the battel increased that day: and the King of Israel stood still in his charet against the Aramites vntil euen, and dyed at the time of the sunne going downe.
