2 Chronik 16

1 Im sechsunddreißigsten Jahre der Regierung Asas zog Baesa, der König Israels, herauf wider Juda und baute Rama, um Asa, dem König von Juda, weder Ausgang noch Eingang zu lassen.

In the thirty-sixth year of the reign of Asa, Baasha king of Israel has come up against Judah, and builds Ramah, so as not to permit any going out and coming in to Asa king of Judah.

2 Aber Asa nahm aus dem Schatz im Hause des HERRN und im Hause des Königs Silber und Gold und sandte zu Benhadad, dem König von Syrien, der zu Damaskus wohnte, und ließ ihm sagen:

And Asa brings out silver and gold from the treasures of the house of YHWH and of the house of the king, and sends [them] to Ben-Hadad king of Aram, who is dwelling in Damascus, saying,

3 Es ist ein Bund zwischen mir und dir und zwischen meinem und deinem Vater; siehe, darum habe ich dir Silber und Gold gesandt. Gehe hin, löse das Bündnis mit Baesa, dem König von Israel, daß er von mir abziehe!

“A covenant [is] between me and you, and between my father and your father, behold, I have sent silver and gold to you; go, break your covenant with Baasha king of Israel, and he goes up from off me.”

4 Und Benhadad gehorchte dem König Asa und sandte seine Heerführer wider die Städte Israels; die schlugen Ijon, Dan, Abel-Maim und alle Vorratsstädte in Naphtali.

And Ben-Hadad listens to King Asa, and sends the heads of the forces that he has to cities of Israel, and they strike Ijon, and Dan, and Abel-Maim, and all the stores, cities of Naphtali.

5 Als Baesa solches hörte, ließ er ab, Rama zu bauen, und stellte seine Arbeit ein.

And it comes to pass, at Baasha’s hearing, that he ceases from building Ramah, and lets his work rest;

6 Da nahm der König Asa ganz Juda und ließ sie die Steine und das Holz, womit Baesa baute, von Rama wegtragen, und er baute damit Geba und Mizpa.

and Asa the king has taken all Judah, and they carry away the stones of Ramah and its wood that Baasha has built [with], and he builds Geba and Mizpah with them.

7 Und zu jener Zeit kam Hanani, der Seher, zu Asa, dem König von Juda, und sprach zu ihm: Weil du dich auf den König von Syrien verlassen und dich nicht auf den HERRN, deinen Gott, verlassen hast, darum ist das Heer des Königs von Syrien deiner Hand entronnen!

And at that time Hanani the seer has come to Asa king of Judah and says to him, “Because of your leaning on the king of Aram, and you have not leaned on your God YHWH, therefore the force of the king of Aram has escaped from your hand.

8 Waren nicht die Mohren und Lybier ein gewaltiges Heer mit sehr vielen Wagen und Reitern? Dennoch gab sie der HERR in deine Hand, als du dich auf ihn verließest.

Did the Cushim and the Lubim not become a very great force for multitude, for chariot, and for horsemen? And in your leaning on YHWH He gave them into your hand,

9 Denn die Augen des HERRN durchstreifen die ganze Erde, um sich mächtig zu erzeigen an denen, die von ganzem Herzen ihm ergeben sind. Du hast hierin töricht gehandelt; darum wirst du von nun an Krieg haben!

for YHWH—His eyes go to and fro in all the earth, to show Himself strong [for] a people whose heart [is] perfect toward Him; you have been foolish concerning this, because from now on there are wars with you.”

10 Aber Asa ward zornig über den Seher und legte ihn ins Gefängnis; denn er zürnte ihm deswegen. Asa unterdrückte auch etliche von dem Volk zu jener Zeit.

And Asa is angry at the seer, and puts him [in] the house of stocks, for [he is] in a rage with him for this; and Asa oppresses [some] of the people at that time.

11 Und siehe, die Geschichten Asas, die ersten und die letzten, sind geschrieben im Buch der Könige von Juda und Israel.

And behold, the matters of Asa, the first and the last, behold, they are written on the scroll of the kings of Judah and Israel.

12 Und Asa ward krank an seinen Füßen im neununddreißigsten Jahr seines Königreichs, und seine Krankheit nahm sehr zu; doch suchte er auch in seiner Krankheit nicht den HERRN, sondern die Ärzte.

And Asa is diseased—in the thirty-ninth year of his reign—in his feet, until his disease is excessive; and also in his disease he has not sought YHWH, but among physicians.

13 Also legte sich Asa zu seinen Vätern und starb im einundvierzigsten Jahre seines Königreichs.

And Asa lies with his fathers, and dies in the forty-first year of his reign,

14 Und man begrub ihn in seinem Grabe, das er sich in der Stadt Davids hatte aushauen lassen. Und sie legten ihn auf ein Lager, welches man angefüllt hatte mit gutem Räucherwerk und allerlei Spezereien, nach der Kunst des Salbenbereiters gemacht, und sie zündeten ihm ein sehr großes Feuer an.

and they bury him in [one of] his graves that he had prepared for himself in the City of David, and they cause him to lie on a bed that [one] has filled [with] spices, and various kinds of mixtures, with perfumed work; and they burn a very great burning for him.
