1 Darnach versammelte Salomo die Ältesten Israels und alle Häupter der Stämme, die Fürsten der israelitischen Geschlechter bei sich in Jerusalem, um die Bundeslade des HERRN hinaufzubringen aus der Stadt Davids, das ist Zion.

Then Solomon assembles the elderly of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, princes of the fathers of the sons of Israel, to King Solomon, to Jerusalem, to bring up the Ark of the Covenant of YHWH from the City of David—it [is] Zion;

2 Und es versammelten sich alle Männer Israels beim König Salomo zum Fest im Monat Etanim, das ist der siebente Monat.

and all the men of Israel are assembled to King Solomon, in the month of Ethanim, in the festival (the seventh month).

3 Als nun alle Ältesten Israels kamen, trugen die Priester die Lade des HERRN

And all [the] elderly of Israel come in, and the priests lift up the Ark,

4 und brachten die Lade des HERRN hinauf, dazu die Stiftshütte und alle Geräte des Heiligtums, die in der Stiftshütte waren. Das trugen die Priester und Leviten hinauf.

and bring up the Ark of YHWH, and the Tent of Meeting, and all the holy vessels that [are] in the tent, indeed, the priests and the Levites bring them up.

5 Und der König Salomo und die ganze Gemeinde Israel, die sich zu ihm versammelt hatte, standen vor der Lade und opferten Schafe und Rinder, so viele, daß man sie vor Menge nicht zählen noch berechnen konnte.

And King Solomon and all the congregation of Israel who are assembled to him [are] with him before the Ark, sacrificing sheep and oxen, that are not counted nor numbered for multitude.

6 Also brachten die Priester die Bundeslade an ihren Ort, in den Chor des Hauses, in das Allerheiligste, unter die Flügel der Cherubim.

And the priests bring in the Ark of the Covenant of YHWH to its place, to the oracle of the house, to the Holy of Holies, to the place of the wings of the cherubim;

7 Denn die Cherubim breiteten die Flügel aus über den Ort, wo die Lade stand, und bedeckten die Lade und ihre Stangen von oben her.

for the cherubim are spreading forth two wings to the place of the Ark, and the cherubim cover over the Ark, and over its poles from above;

8 Die Stangen aber waren so lang, daß ihre Spitzen im Heiligtum vor dem Chor gesehen wurden; aber draußen wurden sie nicht gesehen, und sie blieben daselbst bis auf diesen Tag.

and they lengthen the poles, and the heads of the poles are seen from the holy [place] on the front of the oracle, and are not seen outside, and they are there to this day.

9 Es war nichts in der Lade als nur die zwei steinernen Tafeln, welche Mose am Horeb hineingelegt hatte, als der HERR mit den Kindern Israel einen Bund machte, als sie aus dem Lande Ägypten gezogen waren.

There is nothing in the Ark, only the two tablets of stone which Moses put there in Horeb when YHWH covenanted with the sons of Israel in their going out of the land of Egypt.

10 Als aber die Priester aus dem Heiligtum traten, erfüllte die Wolke das Haus des HERRN,

And it comes to pass, in the going out of the priests from the holy [place], that the cloud has filled the house of YHWH,

11 also daß die Priester wegen der Wolke nicht hintreten konnten, um ihren Dienst zu verrichten; denn die Herrlichkeit des HERRN erfüllte das Haus des HERRN.

and the priests have not been able to stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of YHWH has filled the house of YHWH.

12 Damals sprach Salomo: Der HERR hat gesagt, er wolle im Dunkeln wohnen.

Then Solomon said, “YHWH has said [He is] to dwell in thick darkness;

13 So habe ich nun ein Haus gebaut, dir zur Wohnung; einen Sitz, daß du da ewiglich bleiben mögest!

I have surely built a house of habitation for You; a fixed place for Your abiding for all ages.”

14 Und der König wandte sein Angesicht und segnete die ganze Gemeinde Israel; und die ganze Gemeinde Israel stand.

And the king turns his face around, and blesses the whole assembly of Israel; and all the assembly of Israel is standing.

15 Und er sprach: Gepriesen sei der HERR, der Gott Israels, der meinem Vater David durch seinen Mund verheißen und es auch durch seine Hand erfüllt hat, da er sagte:

And he says, “Blessed [is] YHWH, God of Israel, who spoke by His mouth with my father David, and by His hand has fulfilled [it], saying,

16 Seit dem Tage, da ich mein Volk Israel aus Ägypten führte, habe ich unter allen Stämmen Israels niemals eine Stadt erwählt, daß mir [dort] ein Haus gebaut würde, damit mein Name daselbst wäre; aber ich habe David erwählt, daß er über mein Volk Israel herrsche.

From the day that I brought out My people, even Israel, from Egypt, I have not fixed on a city out of all the tribes of Israel, to build a house for My Name being there; and I fix on David to be over My people Israel.

17 Nun hatte zwar mein Vater David im Sinn, dem Namen des HERRN, des Gottes Israels, ein Haus zu bauen.

And it is with the heart of my father David to build a house for the Name of YHWH, God of Israel,

18 Aber der HERR sprach zu meinem Vater David: Daß du dir vornahmst, meinem Namen ein Haus zu bauen, da hast du wohlgetan, dir solches vorzunehmen;

and YHWH says to my father David, Because that it has been with your heart to build a house for My Name, you have done well that it has been with your heart;

19 doch sollst nicht du das Haus bauen, sondern dein Sohn, der aus deinen Lenden hervorgehen wird, der soll meinem Namen ein Haus bauen.

only, you do not build the house, but your son who is coming out from your loins, he builds the house for My Name.

20 Und der HERR hat sein Wort erfüllt, das er geredet hat; denn ich bin an meines Vaters David Statt getreten und sitze auf dem Thron Israels, wie der HERR geredet hat, und ich habe dem Namen des HERRN, des Gottes Israels,

And YHWH establishes His word which He spoke, and I am risen up instead of my father David, and I sit on the throne of Israel, as YHWH spoke, and build the house for the Name of YHWH, God of Israel,

21 ein Haus gebaut und daselbst einen Ort zugerichtet für die Lade, darin [das Gesetz] des Bundes des HERRN ist, den er mit unsern Vätern gemacht hat, als er sie aus dem Lande Ägypten führte.

and I set a place for the Ark there, where the covenant of YHWH [is], which He made with our fathers in His bringing them out from the land of Egypt.”

22 Darnach trat Salomo vor den Altar des HERRN, angesichts der ganzen Gemeinde Israel und breitete seine Hände aus gen Himmel und sprach:

And Solomon stands before the altar of YHWH, in front of all the assembly of Israel, and spreads his hands toward the heavens,

23 O HERR, Gott Israels! Dir, o Gott, ist niemand gleich, weder oben im Himmel noch unten auf Erden, der du den Bund und die Gnade bewahrst deinen Knechten, die vor dir wandeln;

and says, “YHWH, God of Israel, there is not a God like You, in the heavens above and on the earth below, keeping the covenant and the kindness for Your servants, those walking before You with all their heart,

24 der du deinem Knechte, meinem Vater David, gehalten, was du ihm versprochen hast; ja, was du mit deinem Munde geredet hattest, das hast du mit deiner Hand erfüllt, wie es heute der Fall ist.

which You have kept for Your servant, my father David, that which You spoke to him; indeed, You speak with Your mouth, and with Your hand have fulfilled [it], as [at] this day.

25 Und nun, HERR, Gott Israels, halte deinem Knecht, meinem Vater David, was du ihm versprochen hast, als du sagtest: Es soll dir nicht mangeln an einem Mann vor mir, welcher auf dem Thron Israels sitze, insofern deine Kinder ihren Weg bewahren, daß sie vor mir wandeln, wie du vor mir gewandelt bist!

And now, YHWH, God of Israel, keep for Your servant, my father David, that which You spoke to him, saying, A man of yours is never cut off from before My face, sitting on the throne of Israel—only, if your sons watch their way, to walk before Me as you have walked before Me.

26 Und nun, o Gott Israels, laß doch dein Wort wahr werden, welches du zu deinem Knecht, meinem Vater David, geredet hast!

And now, O God of Israel, please let Your word be established which You have spoken to Your servant, my father David.

27 Aber wohnt Gott wirklich auf Erden? Siehe, die Himmel und aller Himmel Himmel mögen dich nicht fassen; wie sollte es denn dieses Haus tun, das ich gebaut habe?

But is it true [that] God dwells on the earth? Behold, the heavens and the heavens of the heavens cannot contain You, how much less this house which I have built!

28 Wende dich aber zum Gebet deines Knechtes und zu seinem Flehen, o HERR, mein Gott, daß du hörest das Flehen und das Gebet, welches dein Knecht heute vor dir tut,

Then You have turned to the prayer of Your servant, and to his supplication, O YHWH my God, to listen to the cry and to the prayer which Your servant is praying before You today,

29 daß deine Augen Tag und Nacht offen stehen über diesem Haus, über dem Ort, davon du gesagt hast: Mein Name soll daselbst sein. So wollest du denn hören das Gebet, welches dein Knecht an dieser Stätte tut,

for Your eyes being open toward this house night and day, toward the place of which You have said, My Name is there; to listen to the prayer which Your servant prays toward this place.

30 und wollest erhören das Flehen deines Knechtes und deines Volkes Israel, das sie an diesem Ort tun; ja, du wollest es hören am Ort deiner Wohnung im Himmel, und wenn du es hörst, so vergib!

Then You have listened to the supplication of Your servant, and of Your people Israel, which they pray toward this place; indeed, You listen in the place of Your dwelling, in the heavens—and You have listened, and have forgiven,

31 Wenn jemand wider seinen Nächsten sündigt, und man ihm einen Eid auferlegt, den er schwören soll, und er kommt und schwört vor deinem Altar in diesem Hause,

that which a man sins against his neighbor, and he has lifted up an oath on him to cause him to swear, and the oath has come in before Your altar in this house,

32 so wollest du hören im Himmel und verschaffen, daß deinen Knechten Recht gesprochen wird, indem du den Schuldigen verurteilst, sein Tun auf sein Haupt zurückfallen lässest, den Gerechten aber rechtfertigst, ihm nach seiner Gerechtigkeit vergiltst.

then You hear in the heavens, and have done, and have judged Your servants, to declare wicked the wicked, to put his way on his [own] head, and to declare righteous the righteous, to give him according to his righteousness.

33 Wenn dein Volk Israel vor dem Feind geschlagen wird, weil sie an dir gesündigt haben, und sie kehren wieder zu dir zurück und bekennen deinen Namen, beten und flehen zu dir in diesem Hause,

In Your people Israel being struck before an enemy, because they sin against You, and they have turned back to You, and have confessed Your Name, and prayed, and made supplication to You in this house,

34 so wollest du hören im Himmel und die Sünde deines Volkes vergeben und sie wieder in das Land bringen, das du ihren Vätern gegeben hast.

then you hear in the heavens, and have forgiven the sin of Your people Israel, and brought them back to the ground that You gave to their fathers.

35 Wenn der Himmel verschlossen ist und es nicht regnet, weil sie an dir gesündigt haben, und sie dann an diesem Orte beten und deinen Namen bekennen und sich von ihren Sünden abwenden, weil du sie demütigst,

In the heavens being restrained, and there is no rain, because they sin against You, and they have prayed toward this place, and confessed Your Name, and turn back from their sin, for You afflict them,

36 so wollest du es hören im Himmel und die Sünde deiner Knechte und deines Volkes Israel vergeben, indem du sie den guten Weg lehrest, auf dem sie wandeln sollen, und wollest regnen lassen auf dein Land, welches du deinem Volk zum Erbe gegeben hast.

then You hear in the heavens, and have forgiven the sin of Your servants, and of Your people Israel, for You direct them [to] the good way in which they go, and have given rain on Your land which You have given to Your people for inheritance.

37 Wenn Hungersnot im Lande sein wird, wenn eine Pestilenz ausbricht, wenn Kornbrand, Vergilben [des Getreides], Heuschrecken und Fresser sein werden, wenn sein Feind es belagert im Lande seiner Tore, wenn irgend eine Plage, irgend eine Krankheit auftritt,

Famine—when it is in the land; pestilence—when it is [in the land]; blasting, mildew, locust; caterpillar—when it is [in the land]; when its enemy has distressed it in the land [in] its gates, any plague, any sickness—

38 was immer alsdann irgend ein Mensch von deinem ganzen Volke Israel bittet und fleht, wenn sie spüren, wie ihnen das Gewissen schlägt, und sie ihre Hände ausbreiten nach diesem Hause,

any prayer, any supplication that [is] of any man of all Your people Israel, each who knows the plague of his own heart, and has spread his hands toward this house,

39 so mögest du es hören in deiner Wohnung im Himmel und vergeben und eingreifen und einem jeden geben, wie er gewandelt hat, wie du sein Herz kennst (denn du allein kennst das Herz aller Menschenkinder)

then You hear in the heavens, the settled place of Your dwelling, and have forgiven, and have done, and have given to each according to all his ways, whose heart You know (for You have known—You alone—the heart of all the sons of man),

40 auf daß sie dich fürchten allezeit, solange sie leben im Lande, das du ihren Vätern gegeben hast!

so that they fear You all the days that they are living on the face of the ground that You have given to our fathers.

41 Aber auch wenn ein Fremdling, der nicht zu deinem Volke Israel gehört, aus fernem Lande kommt um deines Namens willen

And also, to the stranger who is not of Your people Israel, and has come from a far-off land for Your Name’s sake—

42 denn sie werden hören von deinem großen Namen und von deiner mächtigen Hand und von deinem ausgestreckten Arm, wenn er kommt, um in diesem Hause zu beten,

for they hear of Your great Name, and of Your strong hand, and of Your outstretched arm—and he has come in and prayed toward this house,

43 so wollest du es hören in deiner Wohnung im Himmel und alles tun, um was der Fremdling dich anrufen wird, auf daß alle Völker auf Erden deinen Namen erkennen und dich fürchten wie dein Volk Israel und erfahren, daß dieses Haus, welches ich gebaut habe, nach deinem Namen genannt ist.

You hear in the heavens, the settled place of Your dwelling, and have done according to all that the stranger calls to You for, in order that all the peoples of the earth may know Your Name, to fear You like Your people Israel, and to know that Your Name has been called on this house which I have built.

44 Wenn dein Volk in den Krieg zieht wider seine Feinde, auf dem Weg, den du sie senden wirst, und sie zum HERRN beten nach der Stadt gewandt, die du erwählt hast, und nach dem Hause, das ich deinem Namen erbaut habe,

When Your people go out to battle against its enemy, in the way that You send them, and they have prayed to YHWH [in] the way of the city which you have fixed on, and of the house which I have built for Your Name,

45 so wollest du im Himmel ihr Gebet und ihr Flehen hören und ihnen Recht verschaffen!

then You have heard their prayer and their supplication in the heavens, and have maintained their cause.

46 Wenn sie wider dich sündigen (denn es ist kein Mensch, der nicht sündigt) und du wider sie zürnst und sie ihren Feinden übergibst, so daß diese sie gefangen abführen in das Land ihrer Feinde, es sei fern oder nah,

When they sin against You (for there is not a man who does not sin), and You have been angry with them, and have given them up before an enemy, and they have taken captive their captivity to the land of the enemy far off or near;

47 und sie in dem Lande, wo sie gefangen sind, in sich gehen und umkehren und im Lande ihrer Gefangenschaft zu dir flehen und sprechen: Wir haben gesündigt und Unrecht getan und sind gottlos gewesen!

and they have turned [it] back to their heart in the land to where they have been taken captive, and have turned back, and made supplication to You in the land of their captors, saying, We have sinned and done perversely—we have done wickedly;

48 Wenn sie sich also zu dir kehren mit ihrem ganzen Herzen und mit ihrer ganzen Seele im Lande ihrer Feinde, die sie weggeführt haben, und zu dir beten, nach ihrem Lande gewandt, das du ihren Vätern gegeben hast, und nach der Stadt, welche du erwählt hast, und nach dem Hause, das ich deinem Namen gebaut habe,

indeed, they have turned back to You with all their heart and with all their soul, in the land of their enemies who have taken them captive, and have prayed to You [in] the way of their land, which You gave to their fathers, the city which You have chosen, and the house which I have built for Your Name:

49 so wollest du in deiner Wohnung im Himmel ihr Gebet und ihr Flehen hören und ihnen Recht schaffen, und wollest deinem Volke vergeben, was es an dir gesündigt hat,

then You have heard in the heavens, the settled place of Your dwelling, their prayer and their supplication, and have maintained their cause,

50 und alle Übertretungen, die es wider dich begangen hat, und du wollest sie Barmherzigkeit finden lassen bei denen, die sie gefangen halten, so daß sie sich ihrer erbarmen;

and have forgiven Your people who have sinned against You, even all their transgressions which they have transgressed against You, and have given them mercies before their captors, and they have had mercy [on] them—

51 denn sie sind dein Volk und dein Erbe, das du aus Ägypten, mitten aus dem eisernen Ofen, geführt hast!

for they [are] Your people and Your inheritance, whom You brought out of Egypt, out of the midst of the furnace of iron—

52 So wollest du denn deine Augen offen halten für das Flehen deines Knechtes und für das Flehen deines Volkes Israel, daß du sie erhörest in allem, um was sie dich anrufen!

for Your eyes being open to the supplication of Your servant, and to the supplication of Your people Israel, to listen to them in all they call to You for;

53 Denn du hast sie ausgesondert aus allen Völkern auf Erden dir zum Erbe, wie du durch deinen Knecht Mose geredet hast, als du unsre Väter aus Ägypten führtest, o Herr, HERR!

for You have separated them to Yourself for an inheritance, out of all the peoples of the earth, as You spoke by the hand of Your servant Moses, in Your bringing out our fathers from Egypt, O Lord YHWH.”

54 Als nun Salomo dieses ganze Gebet und Flehen vor dem HERRN vollendet hatte, stand er auf von [seinem Platz] vor dem Altar des HERRN, wo er gekniet hatte, seine Hände gen Himmel gebreitet,

And it comes to pass, at Solomon’s finishing to pray to YHWH all this prayer and supplication, he has risen from before the altar of YHWH, from bending on his knees and [having] his hands spread out to the heavens,

55 und er trat hin und segnete die ganze Gemeinde Israel mit lauter Stimme und sprach:

and he stands and blesses all the assembly of Israel [with] a loud voice, saying,

56 Gelobet sei der HERR, der seinem Volk Israel Ruhe gegeben hat, ganz wie er versprochen hat! Von allen seinen guten Worten, welche er durch seinen Knecht Mose geredet hat, ist nicht eines dahingefallen.

“Blessed [is] YHWH who has given rest to His people Israel, according to all that He has spoken; not [even] one word has fallen of all His good word, which He spoke by the hand of His servant Moses.

57 Der HERR, unser Gott, sei mit uns, wie er mit unsern Vätern gewesen ist! Er verlasse uns nicht und ziehe die Hand nicht von uns ab,

Our God YHWH is with us as He has been with our fathers; He does not forsake us nor leave us;

58 unser Herz zu ihm zu neigen, daß wir in allen seinen Wegen wandeln und seine Gebote, seine Satzungen und seine Rechte halten, welche er unsern Vätern geboten hat!

to incline our heart to Himself, to walk in all His ways, and to keep His commands, and His statutes, and His judgments, which He commanded our fathers;

59 Und mögen diese meine Worte, die ich vor dem HERRN gefleht habe, gegenwärtig sein vor dem HERRN, unserm Gott, bei Tag und bei Nacht, daß er Recht schaffe seinem Knecht und Recht seinem Volke Israel, Tag für Tag,

and these, my words, with which I have made supplication before YHWH, are near to our God YHWH by day and by night, to maintain the cause of His servant, and the cause of His people Israel, the matter of a day in its day,

60 auf daß alle Völker auf Erden erkennen, daß er, der HERR, Gott ist, und keiner sonst!

that all the peoples of the earth may know that He, YHWH, [is] God; there is none else;

61 Euer Herz aber sei ungeteilt mit dem HERRN, unserm Gott, daß ihr in seinen Satzungen wandelt und seine Gebote bewahrt, wie an diesem Tage!

and your heart has been perfect with our God YHWH, to walk in His statutes, and to keep His commands, as [at] this day.”

62 Und der König und ganz Israel mit ihm brachten Opfer dar vor dem HERRN.

And the king and all Israel with him are sacrificing a sacrifice before YHWH;

63 Und zwar brachte Salomo zum Dankopfer, das er dem HERRN opferte, 22000 Ochsen und 120000 Schafe. Also weihten der König und alle Kinder Israel das Haus des HERRN ein.

and Solomon sacrifices the sacrifice of peace-offerings, which he has sacrificed to YHWH: twenty-two thousand oxen and one hundred and twenty thousand sheep; and the king and all the sons of Israel dedicate the house of YHWH.

64 An jenem Tage weihte der König den innern Vorhof, der vor dem Hause des HERRN war, damit, daß er Brandopfer, Speisopfer und das Fett der Dankopfer daselbst zurichtete; denn der eherne Altar, der vor dem HERRN stand, war zu klein für die Brandopfer, Speisopfer und für das Fett der Dankopfer.

On that day the king has sanctified the middle of the court that [is] before the house of YHWH, for he has made the burnt-offering, and the present, and the fat of the peace-offerings there; for the altar of bronze that [is] before YHWH [is] too small to contain the burnt-offering, and the present, and the fat of the peace-offerings.

65 So feierte Salomo zu jener Zeit ein Fest (und ganz Israel mit ihm, eine große Versammlung des Volkes von den Grenzen Chamats bis an den Bach Ägyptens) vor dem HERRN, unserm Gott, sieben Tage und nochmals sieben Tage lang; das waren vierzehn Tage.

And Solomon makes, at that time, the festival—and all Israel with him, a great assembly from the entering in of Hamath to the Brook of Egypt—before our God YHWH, [for] seven days and seven [more] days—fourteen days.

66 Am achten Tage entließ er das Volk. Und sie segneten den König und gingen hin zu ihren Hütten, fröhlich und guten Mutes, wegen all des Guten, das der HERR an seinem Knechte David und an seinem Volke Israel getan hatte.

On the eighth day he has sent the people away, and they bless the king, and go to their tents, rejoicing and glad of heart for all the good that YHWH has done to His servant David, and to His people Israel.
