1 Und Hiram, der König zu Tyrus, sandte seine Knechte zu Salomo; denn er hatte gehört, daß man ihn an seines Vaters Statt zum König gesalbt hatte; denn Hiram liebte David sein Leben lang.
And Hiram king of Tyre sent his servants to Solomon; for he had heard that they had anointed him king in the place of his father; for Hiram always loved David.
2 Und Salomo sandte zu Hiram und ließ ihm sagen:
And Solomon sent to Hiram, saying,
3 Du weißt, daß mein Vater David dem Namen des HERRN, seines Gottes, kein Haus bauen konnte wegen der Kriege, in die seine Nachbarn ihn verwickelten, bis der HERR sie unter seine Fußsohlen legte.
Thou knowest that David my father could not build a house unto the name of Jehovah his God, because of the wars which were about him on every side, until Jehovah put them under the soles of his feet.
4 Nun aber hat mir der HERR, mein Gott, ringsum Ruhe gegeben, so daß weder ein Widersacher noch ein boshafter Angriff zu erwarten ist.
But now Jehovah my God has given me rest on every side: there is neither adversary nor evil event.
5 Siehe, nun habe ich gedacht, dem Namen des HERRN, meines Gottes, ein Haus zu bauen, wie der HERR zu meinem Vater David gesagt hat, indem er sprach: Dein Sohn, den ich an deiner Statt auf den Thron setzen werde, der soll meinem Namen ein Haus bauen!
And behold, I purpose to build a house unto the name of Jehovah my God, as Jehovah spoke to David my father saying, Thy son, whom I will set upon thy throne in thy stead, he shall build a house unto my name.
6 So gebiete nun, daß man mir Zedern vom Libanon haue; und meine Knechte sollen mit deinen Knechten sein, und den Lohn deiner Knechte will ich dir geben, soviel du verlangst; denn dir ist bekannt, daß niemand unter uns ist, der Holz zu hauen weiß wie die Zidonier.
And now command that they hew me cedar-trees out of Lebanon; and my servants shall be with thy servants; and I will give thee hire for thy servants according to all that thou shalt say; for thou knowest that there is not among us any that are experienced in cutting timber like to the Zidonians.
7 Als nun Hiram die Worte Salomos hörte, freute er sich hoch und sprach: Der HERR sei heute gelobt, der David einen weisen Sohn gegeben hat über dieses große Volk!
And it came to pass when Hiram heard the words of Solomon, that he rejoiced greatly, and said, Blessed be Jehovah this day, who has given to David a wise son over this great people.
8 Und Hiram sandte zu Salomo und ließ ihm sagen: Ich habe [die Botschaft] gehört, die du mir gesandt hast; ich will tun nach all deinem Begehren betreffs des Zedern und Zypressenholzes.
And Hiram sent to Solomon, saying, I have heard the things which thou sentest to me for: I will do all thy desire concerning timber of cedar, and concerning timber of cypress.
9 Meine Knechte sollen die Stämme vom Libanon an das Meer hinabbringen; darauf will ich sie zu Flößen machen auf dem Meere bis an den Ort, den du mir wirst sagen lassen, und ich will sie selbst wieder zerlegen, und du sollst sie holen lassen. Aber du sollst auch mein Begehren erfüllen und meinem Gesinde Speise geben!
My servants shall bring [them] down from Lebanon to the sea; and I will convey them by sea [in] rafts to the place that thou shalt appoint me, and will cause them to be broken up there, and thou shalt receive them. And thou shalt accomplish my desire in giving food for my household.
10 Also gab Hiram dem Salomo Zedern und Zypressenholz nach all seinem Begehren.
So Hiram gave Solomon cedar-trees and cypress-trees [according to] all his desire.
11 Salomo aber gab dem Hiram zwanzigtausend Kor Weizen zur Speise für sein Gesinde und zwanzig Kor gestoßenes Öl. Solches gab Salomo dem Hiram alljährlich.
And Solomon gave Hiram twenty thousand measures of wheat as food for his household, and twenty measures of beaten oil: thus gave Solomon to Hiram year by year.
12 Und der HERR gab Salomo Weisheit, wie er ihm verheißen hatte; und es war Friede zwischen Hiram und Salomo; und die beiden machten einen Bund miteinander.
And Jehovah gave Solomon wisdom as he promised him. And there was peace between Hiram and Solomon; and they two made a league.
13 Der König Salomo hob auch aus ganz Israel Fronarbeiter aus, und es waren ihrer dreißigtausend Mann.
And king Solomon raised a levy out of all Israel; and the levy was thirty thousand men.
14 Und er sandte sie abwechselnd auf den Libanon, jeden Monat zehntausend Mann, so daß sie einen Monat auf dem Libanon waren und zwei Monate daheim. Und Adoniram war über die Fronarbeiter gesetzt.
And he sent them to Lebanon, ten thousand a month by courses; a month they were in Lebanon, two months at home; and Adoniram was over the levy.
15 Und Salomo hatte siebzigtausend Lastträger und achtzigtausend Steinmetzen im Gebirge,
And Solomon had seventy thousand that bore burdens, and eighty thousand stone-masons in the mountains;
16 ohne die Oberaufseher Salomos, die über das Werk gesetzt waren, nämlich dreitausenddreihundert, welche über das Volk, das am Werk arbeitete, zu gebieten hatten.
besides the overseers whom Solomon had set over the work, three thousand three hundred, who ruled over the people that wrought in the work.
17 Und der König gebot, und sie brachen große Steine aus, kostbare Steine, nämlich Quadersteine zum Grunde des Hauses.
And the king commanded, and they brought great stones, costly stones, hewn stones, to lay the foundation of the house.
18 Und die Bauleute Salomos und die Bauleute Hirams und die Gibliter behieben sie und richteten das Holz und die Steine zum Bau des Hauses.
And Solomon's builders and Hiram's builders and the Giblites hewed them, and prepared timber and stones to build the house.
