1 Im achtzehnten [Regierungs-]Jahre des Königs Jerobeam, des Sohnes Nebats, ward Abija König über Juda.

And in the eighteenth year of the reign of Jeroboam son of Nabat, Abiu son of Roboam reigns over Juda.

2 Er regierte drei Jahre lang zu Jerusalem. Seine Mutter hieß Maacha, eine Tochter Abisaloms.

And he reigned three years over Jerusalem: and his mother's name [was] Maacha, daughter of Abessalom.

3 Und er wandelte in allen Sünden seines Vaters, die er vor ihm getan hatte, und sein Herz war nicht völlig mit dem HERRN, seinem Gott, wie das Herz seines Vaters David.

And he walked in the sins of his father which he wrought in his presence, and his heart was not perfect with the Lord his God, as [was] the heart of his father [David].

4 Doch um Davids willen gab der HERR, sein Gott, ihm eine Leuchte zu Jerusalem, indem er seinen Sohn ihm nachfolgen und Jerusalem bestehen ließ,

Howbeit for David's sake the Lord gave him a remnant, that he might establish his children after him, and might establish Jerusalem.

5 weil David getan hatte, was in den Augen des HERRN recht war, und nicht gewichen war von allem, was er ihm gebot, sein Leben lang, außer in der Sache Urijas, des Hetiters.

Forasmuch as David did that which was right in the sight of the Lord: he turned not from any thing that he commanded him all the days of his life.

6 Es war aber Krieg zwischen Rehabeam und Jerobeam, ihr Leben lang.

7 Was aber mehr von Abija zu sagen ist, und was er getan hat, ist das nicht geschrieben in der Chronik der Könige von Juda? Es war aber Krieg zwischen Abija und Jerobeam.

And the rest of the history of Abiu, and all that he did, behold, are not these written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Juda? And there was war between Abiu and Jeroboam.

8 Und Abija legte sich zu seinen Vätern, und sie begruben ihn in der Stadt Davids. Und Asa, sein Sohn, ward König an seiner Statt.

And Abiu slept with his fathers in the twenty-fourth year of Jeroboam; and he is buried with his fathers in the city of David: And Asa his son reigns in his stead.

9 Im zwanzigsten Jahre Jerobeams, des Königs von Israel, ward Asa König über Juda;

In the four and twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel, Asa begins to reign over Juda.

10 er regierte einundvierzig Jahre lang zu Jerusalem. Seine Mutter hieß Maacha, eine Tochter Abisaloms.

And he reigned forty-one years in Jerusalem: and his mother's name [was] Ana, daughter of Abessalom.

11 Und Asa tat, was dem HERRN wohlgefiel, wie sein Vater David.

And Asa did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, as David his father.

12 Denn er schaffte die Schandbuben aus dem Lande und entfernte alle schändlichen Götzen, die seine Väter gemacht hatten.

And he removed the sodomites out of the land, and abolished all the practices which his fathers had kept up.

13 Dazu setzte er auch seine Mutter Maacha ab, daß sie nicht mehr Gebieterin war, weil sie ein Götzenbild der Aschera gemacht hatte. Und Asa rottete ihr Götzenbild aus und verbrannte es am Bach Kidron. Aber die Höhen tat er nicht ab.

And he removed Ana his mother from being queen, forasmuch as she gathered a meeting in her grove: and Asa cut down her retreats, and burnt them with fire in the brook of Kedron.

14 Doch war das Herz Asas völlig mit dem HERRN sein Leben lang.

But he removed not the high places; nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect with the Lord all his days.

15 Und das Silber und Gold und die Geräte, was sein Vater geweiht hatte und was er selbst weihte, das brachte er in das Haus des HERRN.

And he brought in the pillars of his father, he even brought in his gold and silver pillars into the house of the Lord, and [his] vessels.

16 Es war aber Krieg zwischen Asa und Baesa, dem Könige von Israel, ihr Leben lang.

And there was war between Asa and Baasa king of Israel all their days.

17 Denn Baesa, der König von Israel, zog herauf wider Juda und baute Rama, um dem König von Juda keinen Ausgang und Eingang mehr zu lassen.

And Baasa king of Israel went up against Juda, and built Rama, so that no one should go out or come in for Asa king of Juda.

18 Da nahm Asa alles Silber und Gold, das im Schatze des Hauses des HERRN und im Schatze des Königshauses übrig war, und gab es in die Hand seiner Knechte; und der König Asa sandte sie zu Benhadad, dem Sohne Tabrimmons, des Sohnes Hesions, dem König von Syrien, der zu Damaskus wohnte, und ließ ihm sagen:

And Asa took all the silver and the gold that was found in the treasures of the house of the Lord, and in the treasures of the king's house, and gave them into the hands of his servants; and king Asa sent them out to the son of Ader, the son of Taberema son of Azin king of Syria, who lived in Damascus, saying,

19 Es besteht ein Bund zwischen mir und dir, zwischen meinem Vater und deinem Vater, siehe, ich sende dir ein Geschenk von Silber und Gold; gehe hin, löse das Bündnis auf, das du mit Baesa, dem König von Israel, hast, daß er von mir abziehe!

Make a covenant between me and you, and between my father and your father: behold! I have sent forth to you gold and silver [for] gifts: come, break your league with Baasa king of Israel, that he may go up from me.

20 Und Benhadad willfahrte dem König Asa und sandte seine Hauptleute wider die Städte Israels und schlug Jjon und Dan und Abel-Bet-Maacha und ganz Genezareth, samt dem ganzen Lande Naphtali.

And the son of Ader listened to king Asa, and sent the chiefs of his forces to the cities of Israel; and they struck Ain, Dan, and Abel of the house of Maacha, and all Chennereth, as far as the whole land of Nephthali.

21 Als Baesa solches hörte, ließ er ab, Rama zu bauen, und blieb zu Tirza.

And it came to pass when Baasa heard it, that he left off building Rama, and returned to Thersa.

22 Der König Asa aber erließ ein Aufgebot im ganzen Juda, so daß keiner frei blieb; Und sie nahmen von Rama die Steine und das Holz weg, womit Baesa gebaut hatte. Und der König Asa baute damit Geba in Benjamin, und Mizpa.

And king Asa charged all Juda without exception: and they take up the stones of Rama and its timbers [with] which Baasa was building; and king Asa built with them upon the whole hill of Benjamin, and the watch-tower.

23 Was aber mehr von Asa zu sagen ist, und alle seine Macht und alles, was er getan hat, ist das nicht geschrieben in der Chronik der Könige von Juda? Doch ward er in seinem Alter krank an den Füßen.

And the rest of the history of Asa, and all his mighty deeds which he wrought, and the cities which he built, behold, are not these written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Juda? Nevertheless in the time of his old age he was diseased in his feet.

24 Und Asa legte sich zu seinen Vätern und ward begraben mit seinen Vätern in der Stadt Davids, seines Vaters. Und Josaphat, sein Sohn, ward König an seiner Statt.

And Asa slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father: and Josaphat his son reigns in his stead.

25 Nadab aber, der Sohn Jerobeams, ward König über Israel im zweiten Jahre [der Regierung] Asas, des Königs von Juda, und regierte zwei Jahre lang über Israel

And Nabat son of Jeroboam reigns over Israel in the second year of Asa king of Juda, and he reigned two years in Israel.

26 und tat, was dem HERRN übel gefiel, und wandelte in dem Wege seines Vaters und in seiner Sünde, wodurch er Israel zur Sünde verführt hatte.

And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, and walked in the way of his father, and in his sins wherein he caused Israel to sin.

27 Aber Baesa, der Sohn Achijas, aus dem Hause Issaschar, machte eine Verschwörung wider ihn, und Baesa erschlug ihn zu Gibbeton, das den Philistern gehörte; denn Nadab und ganz Israel belagerten Gibbeton.

And Baasa son of Achia, [who was] over the house of Belaan son of Achia, conspired against him, and struck him in Gabathon of the Philistines; for Nabat and all Israel were besieging Gabathon.

28 Also tötete ihn Baesa im dritten Jahre Asas, des Königs von Juda, und ward König an seiner Statt.

And Baasa killed him in the third year of Asa son of Asa king of Juda; and reigned in his stead.

29 Als er nun König geworden war, erschlug er das ganze Haus Jerobeams und ließ Jerobeam keine Seele übrig, bis er ihn vertilgt hatte nach dem Worte des HERRN, das er durch seinen Knecht Achija von Silo geredet hatte, um der Sünden Jerobeams willen,

And it came to pass when he reigned, that he struck the whole house of Jeroboam, and left none that breathed of Jeroboam, until he has destroyed him utterly, according to the word of the Lord which he spoke by his servant Achia the Selonite,

30 die er tat, und zu denen er Israel verführt hatte, wegen seines Reizens, womit er den HERRN, den Gott Israels, zum Zorne reizte.

for the sins of Jeroboam, who led Israel into sin, even by his provocation wherewith he provoked the Lord God of Israel.

31 Was aber mehr von Nadab zu sagen ist, und alles, was er getan hat, ist das nicht geschrieben in der Chronik der Könige von Israel?

And the rest of the history of Nabat, and all that he did, behold, are not these written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

32 Und es war Krieg zwischen Asa und Baesa, dem König von Israel, ihr Leben lang.

[And there was a war between Asa and Baasa king of Israel in all their days. ]

33 Im dritten Jahr Asas, des Königs von Juda, ward Baesa, der Sohn Achijas, König über ganz Israel zu Tirza, [und er regierte] vierundzwanzig Jahre lang.

And in the third year of Asa king of Juda, Baasa the son of Achia begins to reign over Israel in Thersa, twenty and four years.

34 Und er tat, was dem HERRN übel gefiel, und wandelte in dem Wege Jerobeams und in seiner Sünde, wodurch er Israel zur Sünde verführt hatte.

And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, and walked in the way of Jeroboam the son of Nabat, and in his sins, as he caused Israel to sin.
