1 Korinther 14
1 Strebet nach der Liebe; doch eifert auch nach den Geistesgaben, am meisten aber, daß ihr weissagen könnet!
Cultivate love, and earnestly desire spiritual gifts, but rather that you may prophesy.
2 Denn wer in Zungen redet, der redet nicht für Menschen, sondern für Gott; denn niemand vernimmt es, im Geiste aber redet er Geheimnisse.
For he that speaks in an unknown tongue, speaks not to men, but to God; for no one understands him: but yet in spirit he speaks mysteries.
3 Wer aber weissagt, der redet für Menschen zur Erbauung, zur Ermahnung und zum Trost.
But he that prophesies speaks to men so as to build them up, to exhort and comfort them.
4 Wer in Zungen redet, erbaut sich selbst; wer aber weissagt, erbaut die Gemeinde.
He that speaks in an unknown tongue, edifies himself; but he that prophesies, edifies the church.
5 Ich wünschte, daß ihr alle in Zungen redetet, noch viel mehr aber, daß ihr weissagen könntet. Denn wer weissagt, ist größer, als wer in Zungen redet; es sei denn, daß er es auslege, damit die Gemeinde Erbauung empfange.
I am willing, indeed, that you should all speak in tongues, but rather that you should prophesy; for greater is he that prophesies than he that speaks in tongues, unless he interprets, in order that the church may receive instruction.
6 Nun aber, ihr Brüder, wenn ich zu euch käme und in Zungen redete, was würde ich euch nützen, wenn ich nicht zu euch redete, sei es durch Offenbarung oder durch Erkenntnis oder durch Weissagung oder durch Lehre?
Now, brethren, if I come to you speaking in tongues, in what will I profit you, unless I speak to you by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophecy, or by teaching?
7 Ist es doch ebenso mit den leblosen Instrumenten, die einen Laut von sich geben, sei es eine Flöte oder eine Harfe; wenn sie nicht bestimmte Töne geben, wie kann man erkennen, was auf der Flöte oder auf der Harfe gespielt wird?
And even lifeless instruments, which produce sound, whether pipe or harp, unless they give a distinction in the notes, how shall that which is piped or harped be known?
8 Ebenso auch, wenn die Posaune einen undeutlichen Ton gibt, wer wird sich zum Kampfe rüsten?
For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who will prepare himself for battle?
9 Also auch ihr, wenn ihr durch die Zunge nicht eine verständliche Rede gebet, wie kann man verstehen, was geredet wird? Denn ihr werdet in den Wind reden.
So, also, unless you, with the tongue, utter words that are intelligible, how shall that which is spoken be known? for you will speak into the air.
10 So viele Arten von Sprachen mögen wohl in der Welt sein, und keine ist ohne Laut.
There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without meaning.
11 Wenn ich nun den Sinn des Lautes nicht kenne, so werde ich dem Redenden ein Fremder sein und der Redende für mich ein Fremder.
If, then, I know not the meaning of the voice, I shall be to him that speaks a barbarian; and he that speaks will be a barbarian to me.
12 Also auch ihr, da ihr eifrig nach Geistesgaben trachtet, suchet, zur Erbauung der Gemeinde daran Überfluß zu haben!
So, also, do you, since you greatly desire spiritual gifts, seek to excel to the building up of the church.
13 Darum: wer in Zungen redet, der bete, daß er es auch auslegen kann.
For which reason, let him that speaks in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret.
14 Denn wenn ich in Zungen bete, so betet zwar mein Geist, aber mein Verstand ist ohne Frucht.
For if I pray in an unknown tongue, the spirit which I have prays, but my understanding is unfruitful.
15 Wie soll es nun sein? Ich will im Geiste beten, ich will aber auch mit dem Verstande beten; ich will im Geiste lobsingen, ich will aber auch mit dem Verstande lobsingen.
What, then, is it? I will pray with the spirit which is given to me, and I will pray with my understanding also. I will sing with the spirit that is given to me, and I will sing with my understanding also.
16 Sonst, wenn du im Geiste lobpreisest, wie soll der, welcher die Stelle des Unkundigen einnimmt, das Amen sprechen zu deiner Danksagung, da er nicht weiß, was du sagst?
Otherwise, if you bless with the spirit that is given to you, how will he that occupies the place of the unlearned man say Amen, when you give thanks, since he understands not what you say?
17 Du magst wohl schön danksagen, aber der andere wird nicht erbaut.
For you give thanks well, but the other is not edified.
18 Ich danke Gott, daß ich mehr als ihr alle in Zungen rede.
I thank God that I speak in tongues more than you all.
19 Aber in der Gemeinde will ich lieber fünf Worte mit meinem Verstande reden, damit ich auch andere unterrichte, als zehntausend Worte in Zungen.
Yet in the church I would rather speak five words with my understanding, that I may instruct others, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.
20 Ihr Brüder, werdet nicht Kinder im Verständnis, sondern an Bosheit seid Kinder, am Verständnis aber werdet vollkommen.
Brethren, be not children in understanding: yet, in malice, be childlike; but, in understanding, be full-grown men.
21 Im Gesetz steht geschrieben: «Ich will mit fremden Zungen und mit fremden Lippen zu diesem Volke reden, aber auch so werden sie mich nicht hören, spricht der Herr.»
In the law it is written: Through men of other tongues and other lips will I speak to this people; and not even thus will they hear me, says the Lord.
22 Darum sind die Zungen zum Zeichen nicht für die Gläubigen, sondern für die Ungläubigen; die Weissagung aber ist nicht für die Ungläubigen, sondern für die Gläubigen.
Therefore, tongues are for a sign, not to those who believe, but to those who believe not: but prophecy is not for those who believe not, but for those who believe.
23 Wenn nun die ganze Gemeinde am selben Ort zusammenkäme, und alle würden in Zungen reden, und es kämen Unkundige oder Ungläubige herein, würden sie nicht sagen, ihr wäret von Sinnen?
If, then, the whole church come together into the same place, and all speak in tongues, and there come in unlearned men, or unbelievers, will they not say that you are mad?
24 Wenn aber alle weissagten, und es käme ein Ungläubiger oder Unkundiger herein, so würde er von allen überführt, von allen erforscht;
But if all prophesy, and there comes in an unbeliever, or an unlearned man, he is convinced by all, he is examined by all,
25 das Verborgene seines Herzens würde offenbar, und so würde er auf sein Angesicht fallen und Gott anbeten und bekennen, daß Gott wahrhaftig in euch sei.
and the secrets of his heart are made manifest; and so, falling down on his face, he will worship God, and report that God is really among you.
26 Wie ist es nun, ihr Brüder? Wenn ihr zusammenkommt, so hat jeder von euch etwas: einen Psalm, eine Lehre, eine Offenbarung, eine Zungenrede, eine Auslegung; alles geschehe zur Erbauung!
What, then, is it, brethren? When you come together, each one of you has a psalm, has something to teach, has an unknown tongue, has a revelation, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification.
27 Will jemand in Zungen reden, so seien es je zwei, höchstens drei, und der Reihe nach, und einer lege es aus.
If any speak in an unknown tongue, let two, or, at most, three, speak at each meeting, and in succession: and let one interpret.
28 Ist aber kein Ausleger da, so schweige er in der Gemeinde; er rede aber für sich selbst und zu Gott.
But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church: but let him speak to himself, and to God.
29 Propheten aber sollen zwei oder drei reden, und die andern sollen es beurteilen.
Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge:
30 Wenn aber einem andern, der dasitzt, eine Offenbarung zuteil wird, so soll der erste schweigen.
and if any thing be revealed to one who is sitting by, let the first be silent.
31 Denn ihr könnet einer nach dem andern alle weissagen, damit alle lernen und alle getröstet werden.
For you can all prophesy, one by one, that all may learn, and all may be encouraged;
32 Und die Geister der Propheten sind den Propheten untertan.
and the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets;
33 Denn Gott ist nicht ein Gott der Unordnung, sondern des Friedens.
for God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all the assemblies of the saints.
34 Wie in allen Gemeinden der Heiligen, so sollen die Frauen in den Gemeinden schweigen; denn es ist ihnen nicht gestattet zu reden, sondern sie sollen untertan sein, wie auch das Gesetz sagt.
Let your women keep silence in the assemblies; for they ire not permitted to speak; but they must be in subjection, as also says the law.
35 Wollen sie aber etwas lernen, so mögen sie daheim ihre Männer fragen; denn es steht einem Weibe übel an, in der Gemeinde zu reden.
But if they wish to learn any thing, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is a shame for women to speak in an assembly.
36 Oder ist von euch das Wort Gottes ausgegangen? Oder ist es zu euch allein gekommen?
Has the word of God come forth from you? or did it come to you only?
37 Glaubt jemand ein Prophet oder ein Geistbegabter zu sein, der erkenne, daß das, was ich euch schreibe, des Herrn Gebot ist.
If any one has the reputation of being a prophet, or spiritual man, let him acknowledge that the things which I write to you are the commandments of the Lord.
38 Will es aber jemand mißachten, der mißachte es!
But if any one be ignorant, let him be ignorant.
39 Also, meine Brüder, strebet nach der Weissagung, und das Reden in Zungen wehret nicht;
Wherefore, brethren, earnestly desire to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.
40 alles aber geschehe mit Anstand und in Ordnung!
Let all things be done with propriety, and in good order.
