1 Korinther 13
1 Wenn ich mit Menschen und Engelzungen rede, aber keine Liebe habe, so bin ich ein tönendes Erz oder eine klingende Schelle.
Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not love, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
2 Und wenn ich weissagen kann und alle Geheimnisse weiß und alle Erkenntnis habe, und wenn ich allen Glauben besitze, so daß ich Berge versetze, habe aber keine Liebe, so bin ich nichts.
And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, and have not love, I am nothing.
3 Und wenn ich alle meine Habe austeile und meinen Leib hergebe, damit ich verbrannt werde, habe aber keine Liebe, so nützt es mir nichts!
And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give up my body that I may be burned, and have not love, it profiteth me nothing.
4 Die Liebe ist langmütig und gütig, die Liebe beneidet nicht, sie prahlt nicht, sie bläht sich nicht auf;
Love suffereth long, is kind; love envieth not; love vaunteth not herself, is not puffed up,
5 sie ist nicht unanständig, sie sucht nicht das Ihre, sie läßt sich nicht erbittern, sie rechnet das Böse nicht zu;
doth not behave herself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, maketh no account of an injury,
6 sie freut sich nicht über die Ungerechtigkeit, sie freut sich aber der Wahrheit;
rejoiceth not at iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth,
7 sie erträgt alles, sie glaubt alles, sie hofft alles, sie duldet alles.
beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
8 Die Liebe hört nimmer auf, wo doch die Prophezeiungen ein Ende haben werden, das Zungenreden aufhören wird und die Erkenntnis aufgehoben werden soll.
Love never faileth; but whether there are prophesyings, they will come to an end; whether tongues, they will cease; whether knowledge, it will be done away.
9 Denn wir erkennen stückweise und wir weissagen stückweise;
For we know in part, and we prophesy in part;
10 wenn aber einmal das Vollkommene da ist, dann wird das Stückwerk abgetan.
but when that which is perfect is come, that which is in part will be done away.
11 Als ich ein Kind war, redete ich wie ein Kind, dachte wie ein Kind und urteilte wie ein Kind; als ich aber ein Mann wurde, tat ich ab, was kindisch war.
When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I had the feelings of a child, I thought as a child; since I have become a man, I have put away the things of the child.
12 Wir sehen jetzt durch einen Spiegel wie im Rätsel, dann aber von Angesicht zu Angesicht; jetzt erkenne ich stückweise, dann aber werde ich erkennen, gleichwie ich erkannt bin.
For now we see in a mirror, obscurely; but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I shall fully know even as I also am fully known.
13 Nun aber bleibt Glaube, Hoffnung, Liebe, diese drei; die größte aber von diesen ist die Liebe.
And now there abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
