1 Chronik 21
1 Und Satan stand auf wider Israel und reizte David, Israel zählen zu lassen.
And Satan rose up against Israel: and moved David to number Israel.
2 Und David sprach zu Joab und zu den Obersten des Volkes: Gehet hin, zählet Israel von Beerseba an bis gen Dan, und bringet mir Bericht, daß ich ihre Anzahl wisse!
And David said to Joab, and to the rulers of the people: Go, and number Israel from Bersabee even to Dan, and bring me the number of them that I may know it.
3 Joab sprach: Der HERR tue zu seinem Volk, wie zahlreich es jetzt ist, noch hundertmal mehr hinzu! Aber sind sie nicht, mein Herr und König, alle meines Herrn Knechte? Warum soll eine Schuld auf Israel kommen?
And Joab answered: The Lord make his people a hundred times more than they are: but, my lord the king, are they not all thy servants: why doth my lord seek this thing, which may be imputed as a sin to Israel?
4 Aber des Königs Wort blieb fest wider Joab. Und Joab zog aus und durchwanderte ganz Israel und kam wieder nach Jerusalem.
But the king’s word rather prevailed: and Joab departed, and went through all Israel: and returned to Jerusalem.
5 Und Joab gab David die Zahl des gemusterten Volkes an. Das ganze Israel zählte elfhunderttausend Männer, die das Schwert zogen, und Juda vierhundertsiebzigtausend Männer, die das Schwert zogen.
And he gave David the number of them, whom he had surveyed: and all the number of Israel was found to be eleven hundred thousand men that drew the sword: and of Juda four hundred and seventy thousand fighting men.
6 Levi aber und Benjamin hatte er nicht mit ihnen gemustert; denn des Königs Wort war Joab ein Greuel.
But Levi and Benjamin he did not number: for Joab unwillingly executed the king’s orders.
7 Und solches mißfiel Gott; darum schlug er Israel.
And God was displeased with this thing that was commanded: and he struck Israel.
8 Und David sprach zu Gott: Ich habe schwer gesündigt, daß ich diese Sache getan habe. Nun aber nimm doch die Missetat deines Knechtes hinweg, denn ich habe sehr töricht gehandelt!
And David said to God: I have sinned exceedingly in doing this: I beseech thee take away the iniquity of thy servant, for I have done foolishly.
9 Und der HERR redete zu Gad, dem Seher Davids, und sprach:
And the Lord spoke to Gad the seer of David, saying:
10 Gehe hin, sage zu David und sprich: So spricht der HERR: Dreierlei lege ich dir vor, erwähle dir eins davon, das ich dir tun soll!
Go, and speak to David, and tell him: Thus saith the Lord: I give thee the choice of three things: choose one which thou wilt, and I will do it to thee.
11 Und als Gad zu David kam, sprach er zu ihm: So spricht der HERR: Wähle dir:
And when Gad was come to David, he said to him: Thus saith the Lord: choose which thou wilt:
12 entweder drei Jahre Hungersnot oder drei Monate lang Flucht vor deinen Widersachern, so daß dich das Schwert deiner Feinde ereilt, oder drei Tage lang das Schwert des HERRN und die Pestilenz im Lande, und den Engel des HERRN, den Verderber, im ganzen Gebiete Israels. So siehe nun zu, was ich dem antworten soll, der mich gesandt hat!
Either three years’ famine: or three months to flee from thy enemies, and not to be able to escape their sword: or three days to have the sword of the Lord, and pestilence in the land, and the angel of the Lord destroying in all the coasts of Israel: now therefore see what I shall answer him who sent me.
13 David sprach zu Gad: Mir ist sehr angst! Ich will in die Hand des HERRN fallen; denn seine Barmherzigkeit ist sehr groß; aber in der Menschen Hände will ich nicht fallen!
And David said to Gad: I am on every side in a great strait: but it is better for me to fall into the hands of the Lord, for his mercies are many, than into the hands of men.
14 Da ließ der HERR Pestilenz über Israel kommen, also daß siebzigtausend Mann aus Israel fielen.
So the Lord sent a pestilence upon Israel. And there fell of Israel seventy thousand men.
15 Und Gott sandte den Engel gen Jerusalem, es zu verderben. Und als er verderbte, sah der HERR darein und ließ sich das Übel gereuen und sprach zum Engel, dem Verderber: Genug! Ziehe nun deine Hand ab! Der Engel des HERRN aber stand bei der Tenne Ornans, des Jebusiters.
And he sent an angel to Jerusalem, to strike it: and as he was striking it, the Lord beheld, and took pity for the greatness of the evil: and said to the angel that destroyed: It is enough, now stop thy hand. And the angel of the Lord stood by the thrashing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
16 Und David erhob seine Augen und sah den Engel des HERRN zwischen Erde und Himmel stehen, und in seiner Hand ein bloßes Schwert, über Jerusalem ausgestreckt. Da fielen David und die Ältesten, in Säcke gehüllt, auf ihr Angesicht.
And David lifting up his eyes, saw the angel of the Lord standing between heaven and earth, with a drawn sword in his hand, turned against Jerusalem: and both he and the ancients clothed in haircloth, fell down flat on the ground.
17 Und David sprach zu Gott: Habe nicht ich gesagt, daß man das Volk zählen solle? Ich bin es, der gesündigt und das große Übel getan hat. Was haben aber diese Schafe getan? HERR, mein Gott, laß doch deine Hand wider mich und meines Vaters Haus sein, und nicht wider dein Volk zur Plage!
And David said to God: Am not I he that commanded the people to be numbered? It is I that have sinned: it is I that have done the evil: but as for this flock, what hath it deserved? O Lord my God, let thy hand be turned, I beseech thee, upon me, and upon my father’s house: and let not thy people be destroyed.
18 Und der Engel des HERRN befahl Gad, David zu sagen, daß er hinaufgehen solle, dem HERRN einen Altar aufzurichten in der Tenne Ornans, des Jebusiters.
And the angel of the Lord commanded Gad to tell David, to go up, and build an altar to the Lord God in the thrashingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.
19 Also ging David hinauf nach dem Worte Gads, das dieser im Namen des HERRN geredet hatte.
And David went up, according to the word of Gad, which he spoke to him in the name of the Lord.
20 Und Ornan wandte sich um und sah den Engel, und seine vier Söhne versteckten sich mit ihm; Ornan drosch gerade Weizen.
Now when Ornan looked up, and saw the angel, he and his four sons hid themselves: for at that time he was thrashing wheat in the floor.
21 Und David kam zu Ornan; und Ornan blickte um sich und ward Davids gewahr und ging aus der Tenne heraus und bückte sich vor David mit dem Angesicht zur Erde.
And as David was coming to Ornan, Ornan saw him, and went out of the thrashingfloor to meet him, and bowed down to him with his face to the ground.
22 Und David sprach zu Ornan: Gib mir den Platz der Tenne, daß ich dem HERRN einen Altar darauf baue (um den vollen Geldwert sollst du mir ihn geben), damit die Plage von dem Volk abgewandt werde!
And David said to him: Give me this place of thy thrashingfloor, that I may build therein an altar to the Lord: but thou shalt take of me as much money as it is worth, that the plague may cease from the people.
23 Ornan aber sprach zu David: Nimm ihn hin, mein Herr und König tue damit, was ihm gefällt! Siehe, ich gebe die Rinder zu Brandopfern und die Dreschschlitten als Brennholz und den Weizen zum Speisopfer; alles schenke ich!
And Ornan said to David: Take it, and let my lord the king do all that pleaseth him: and moreover the oxen also I give for a holocaust, and the drays for wood, and the wheat for the sacrifice: I will give it all willingly.
24 Aber der König David sprach zu Ornan: Nicht also, sondern ich will es um den vollen Geldwert kaufen! Denn ich will nicht für den HERRN nehmen, was dir gehört, und umsonst Brandopfer bringen!
And king David said to him: It shall not be so, but I will give thee money as much as it is worth: for I must not take it from thee, and so offer to the Lord holocausts free cost.
25 Also gab David dem Ornan für den Platz sechshundert gewogene Goldschekel.
So David gave to Ornan for the place, six hundred sicles of gold of just weight.
26 Und David baute dem HERRN daselbst einen Altar und opferte Brandopfer und Dankopfer. Und als er den HERRN anrief, antwortete er ihm mit Feuer vom Himmel, [das er] auf den Brandopferaltar [fallen ließ].
And he built there an altar to the Lord: and he offered holocausts, and peace offerings, and he called upon the Lord, and he heard him by sending Are from heaven upon the altar of the holocaust.
27 Und der HERR gebot dem Engel, sein Schwert wieder in die Scheide zu stecken.
And the Lord commanded the angel: and he put up his sword again into the sheath.
28 Zu jener Zeit, als David sah, daß der HERR ihn in der Tenne Ornans, des Jebusiters, erhört hatte, pflegte er daselbst zu opfern.
And David seeing that the Lord had heard him in the thrashingfloor of Oman the Jebusite, forthwith offered victims there.
29 Die Wohnung des HERRN aber, die Mose in der Wüste gemacht hatte, und der Brandopferaltar waren zu jener Zeit auf der Höhe zu Gibeon.
But the tabernacle of the Lord, which Moses made in the desert, and the altar of holocausts, was at that time in the high place of Gabaon.
30 David aber konnte nicht vor denselben treten, um Gott zu suchen; so sehr war er erschrocken vor dem Schwerte des Engels des HERRN.
And David could not go to the altar there to pray to God: for he was seized with an exceeding great fear, seeing the sword of the angel of the Lord.
