1 Chronik 19
1 Darauf starb Nahas, der König der Kinder Ammon, und sein Sohn ward König an seiner Statt.
Forsothe it bifelde, that Naas, kyng of the sones of Amon, diede, and his sone regnyde for him.
2 Da gedachte David: Ich will Barmherzigkeit erweisen an Chanun, dem Sohne des Nahas; denn sein Vater hat an mir Barmherzigkeit getan! Und David sandte Boten hin, ihn wegen seines Vaters zu trösten. Als aber die Knechte Davids in das Land der Kinder Ammon zu Chanun kamen, ihn zu trösten,
And Dauid seide, Y schal do mercy with Anoon, the sone of Naas; for his fadir yaf merci to me. And Dauid sente messageris, to coumforte hym on the deeth of his fadir. And whanne thei weren comen in to the lond of the sones of Amon,
3 sprachen die Fürsten der Kinder Ammon zu Chanun: Meinst du, David wolle deinen Vater vor deinen Augen ehren, daß er Tröster zu dir gesandt hat? Nein, seine Knechte sind zu dir gekommen, um das Land auszuforschen und zu durchstöbern und auszukundschaften!
for to coumforte Anon, the princes of the sones of Amon seiden to Anon, In hap thou gessist, that Dauid for cause of onour in to thi fadir sente men, that schulden coumforte thee; and thou perseyuest not, that hise seruauntis ben comen to thee to aspie, and enquere, and seche thi lond.
4 Da nahm Chanun die Knechte Davids und beschor sie und schnitt ihre Kleider halb ab bis an die Hüften und schickte sie fort.
Therfor Anoon made ballid and schauyde the children of Dauid, and kittide the cootis of hem fro the buttokis of hem til to the feet; and lefte hem.
5 Als man nun hinging und David von diesen Männern berichtete, sandte er ihnen entgegen; denn die Männer waren sehr beschimpft; und der König ließ ihnen sagen: Bleibet zu Jericho, bis euer Bart wieder gewachsen ist, alsdann kommt wieder!
And whanne thei hadden go, and hadden sent this to Dauid, he sente in to the meting of hem; for thei hadden suffrid greet dispit; and he comaundide, that thei schulden dwelle in Gerico, til her berde wexide, and thanne thei schulden turne ayen.
6 Als aber die Kinder Ammon sahen, daß sie sich bei David verhaßt gemacht hatten, sandten Chanun und die Kinder Ammon tausend Talente Silber, um Wagen und Reiter aus Mesopotamien, von den Syrern zu Maacha und aus Zoba zu dingen;
Forsothe the sones of Amon sien, that thei hadden do wrong to Dauid, bothe Anoon and the tother puple, and thei senten a thousynde talentis of siluer, for to hire to hem charis and horsmen of Mesopotanye and Sirie, of Maacha and of Soba;
7 und sie dingten 32000 Wagen und den König von Maacha mit seinem Volk; die kamen und lagerten sich vor Medeba. Und die Kinder Ammon sammelten sich aus ihren Städten und kamen zum Streit.
and thei hiriden to hem two and thretti thousynde of charis, and the kyng of Maacha with his puple. And whanne thei weren comen, thei settiden tentis euene ayens Medaba; and the sones of Amon weren gaderid fro her citees, and camen to batel.
8 Als David solches hörte, sandte er Joab mit dem ganzen Heere der Helden.
And whanne Dauid `hadde herd this, he sente Joab, and al the oost of stronge men.
9 Die Kinder Ammon aber waren ausgezogen und rüsteten sich zum Streit vor dem Tor der Stadt. Die Könige aber, welche gekommen waren, standen gesondert im Felde.
And the sones of Amon yeden out, and dressiden scheltrun bisidis the yate of the citee; but the kyngis, that weren comen to helpe, stoden asidis half in the feeld.
10 Als nun Joab sah, daß ihm von vorn und hinten ein Angriff drohte, traf er eine Auswahl aus aller Jungmannschaft in Israel und stellte sich gegen die Syrer.
Therfor Joab vndurstood, that batel was maad ayens hym `euene ayens and bihynde the bak, and he chees the strongeste men of al Israel, and yede ayens Sirus;
11 Das übrige Volk aber tat er unter die Hand seines Bruders Abisai, damit sie sich gegen die Kinder Ammon rüsteten;
sotheli he yaf the residue part of the puple vnder the hond of Abisai, his brother; and thei yeden ayens the sones of Amon.
12 und er sprach: Wenn mir die Syrer zu stark werden, so komme mir zu Hilfe; wenn aber die Kinder Ammon dir zu stark werden, so will ich dir helfen.
And Joab seide, If Sirus schal ouercome me, thou schalt helpe me; sotheli if the sones of Amon schulen ouercome thee, Y schal helpe thee; be thou coumfortid,
13 Sei tapfer; wir wollen uns für unser Volk und für die Städte unsres Gottes wehren; der HERR aber tue, was ihm gefällt!
and do we manli for oure puple, and for the citees of oure God; forsothe the Lord do that, that is good in his siyt.
14 Und Joab machte sich mit dem Volk, das bei ihm war, herzu, wider die Syrer zu streiten; und sie flohen vor ihm.
Therfor Joab yede, and the puple that was with hym, ayens Sirus to batel, and he droof hem awei.
15 Als aber die Kinder Ammon sahen, daß die Syrer flohen, flohen auch sie vor seinem Bruder Abisai und zogen in die Stadt. Und Joab kam nach Jerusalem.
Sotheli the sones of Amon sien, that Sirus hadde fled, and thei fledden fro Abisay, his brother, and entriden in to the citee; and Joab turnede ayen in to Jerusalem.
16 Als aber die Syrer sahen, daß sie von Israel geschlagen waren, sandten sie Boten hin und ließen die Syrer von jenseits des Stromes ausziehen. Und Sophach, der Feldhauptmann Hadar-Esers, zog vor ihnen her.
Forsothe Sirus siy, that he felde doun bifor Israel, and he sente messageris, and brouyte Sirus, that was biyende the flood; sotheli Sophath, the prynce of chyualrie of Adadezer, was the duyk of hem.
17 Als David solches angezeigt ward, versammelte er ganz Israel und zog über den Jordan. Und als er zu ihnen kam, stellte er sich in Schlachtordnung wider sie auf. Und David stellte sich gegen die Syrer zum Kampf, und sie stritten mit ihm.
And whanne this was teld to Dauid, he gaderide al Israel, and passide Jordan; and he felde in on hem, and dresside scheltrun euene ayens hem, fiytynge ayenward.
18 Aber die Syrer flohen vor Israel. Und David erlegte von den Syrern siebenhundert Wagenkämpfer und vierzigtausend Mann Fußvolk. Dazu tötete er Sophach, den Feldhauptmann.
`Forsothe Sirus fledde fro Israel, and Dauid killide of men of Sirie seuene thousynde of charis, and fourti thousynde of foot men, and Sophath, the prince of the oost.
19 Und als die Knechte Hadar-Esers sahen, daß sie vor Israel geschlagen waren, machten sie Frieden mit David und wurden ihm dienstbar. Und die Syrer wollten den Kindern Ammon nicht mehr helfen.
Sotheli the seruauntis of Adadezer siyen, that thei weren ouercomun of Israel, and thei fledden ouer to Dauid, and seruiden hym; and Sirie wolde no more yyue helpe to the sones of Amon.
