Matthaeus 21
1 Und als sie Jerusalem nahe, nach Bethphage an den Ölberg, gekommen waren, da sandte Jesus zwei Jünger.
When they drew near to Jerusalem, and came to Bethphage, to the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples,
2 Und sprach zu ihnen: Geht hin in das Dorf, das vor euch liegt, und alsbald werdet ihr finden eine angebundene Eselin, und ein Füllen bei ihr, löset sie ab, und bringet sie mir!
saying to them, "Go into the village that is opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Untie them, and bring them to me.
3 Und wenn euch jemand etwas sagen würde, so sprechet: Der Herr hat sie nötig; und alsbald wird er sie gehen lassen.
And if anyone says anything to you, you are to say, 'Because the Lord needs them,' and he will send them at once."
4 Das geschah aber, auf daß erfülle würde, was gesagt ist durch den Propheten, der da spricht:
This took place that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophet, saying,
5 "Saget der Tochter Zion: Siehe dein König kommt zu dir, sanftmütig, reitend auf einem Esel, und zwar auf einem Füllen, dem Jungen eines Lasttieres".
Say to the daughter of Zion, "Look, your King comes to you, humble, and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey."
6 Die Jünger aber gingen hin, und taten, wie ihnen Jesus befohlen hatte;
The disciples went, and did just as Jesus directed them,
7 Und brachten die Eselin und das Füllen, und legten ihre Kleider darauf, und er setzte sich auf dieselben.
and brought the donkey and the colt, and placed their clothes on them; and he sat on them.
8 Das meiste Volk aber breitete seine Kleider aus auf dem Wege, andere aber hieben Zweige ab von den Bäumen, und streuten sie auf dem Weg.
A very large crowd spread their clothes on the road. Others cut branches from the trees, and spread them on the road.
9 Die Volkshaufen aber, welche vorangingen und nachfolgten, schrieen und sprachen: Hosianna dem Sohne Davids! Gesegnet sei, der da kommt im Namen des Herrn, Hosianna in den Höhen.
The crowds who went before him, and who followed kept shouting, "Hosanna to the son of David. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest."
10 Und als er einzog in Jerusalem, da geriet die ganze Stadt in Bewegung, und sprach: Wer ist dieser?
When he had come into Jerusalem, all the city was stirred up, saying, "Who is this?"
11 Die Volkshaufen aber sprachen: Dieser ist Jesus, der Prophet von Nazareth in Galiläa.
The crowds said, "This is the prophet Jesus, from Nazareth of Galilee."
12 Und Jesus zog ein in den Tempel Gottes, und trieb hinaus alle Händler und Käufer im Tempel, und die Tische der Wechsler und die Stühle der Taubenhändler stieß er um;
Jesus entered into the temple, and drove out all of those who sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the money changers' tables and the seats of those who sold the doves.
13 Und sprach zu ihnen: Es steht geschrieben: "Mein Haus soll ein Bethaus heißen", ihr aber habt es zur Räuberhöhle gemacht.
He said to them, "It is written, 'My house will be called a house of prayer,' but you have made it a den of robbers."
14 Und es kamen zu ihm Blinde und Lahme im Tempel, und er heilte sie.
The blind and the lame came to him in the temple, and he healed them.
15 Als aber die Hohenpriester die Wunder sahen, die er tat, und die Kinder, welche im Tempel schrieen, und sprachen: Hosianna dem Sohne Davids! da wurden sie böse,
But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying out in the temple and saying, "Hosanna to the son of David." they were indignant,
16 Und sprachen zu ihm: Hörst du, was diese sagen? Jesus aber sagt ihnen: Ja! Habt ihr nie gelesen: "Aus dem Munde der Unmündigen und Säuglinge hast du Lob zubereitet!"
and said to him, "Do you hear what these are saying?" Jesus said to them, "Yes. Did you never read, 'Out of the mouth of children and infants you have prepared praise?'"
17 Und er verließ sie, und ging hinaus aus der Stadt nach Bethanien, und übernachtete daselbst.
He left them, and went out of the city to Bethany, and lodged there.
18 Des Morgens aber, als er wieder in die Stadt ging, hungerte ihn.
Now in the morning, as he returned to the city, he was hungry.
19 Und er sah einen Feigenbaum am Wege, trat hinzu, fand aber nichts an ihm, außer Blätter allein, und spricht zu ihm: Nun wachse auf dir hinfort keine Frucht mehr ewiglich! Und der Feigenbaum verdorrte alsbald. (aiōn g165)
Seeing a fig tree by the road, he came to it, and found nothing on it but leaves. He said to it, "Let there be no fruit from you forever." Immediately the fig tree withered away. (aiōn g165)
20 Und da das die Jünger sahen, verwunderten sie sich, und sprachen: Wie bald ist der Feigenbaum verdorrt!
When the disciples saw it, they were amazed, saying, "How did the fig tree immediately wither away?"
21 Jesus aber antwortete, und sprach ihnen: Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Wenn ihr Glauben habt, und nicht zweifelt, so werdet ihr nicht allein das mit dem Feigenbaum tun, sondern wenn ihr sagen werdet zu diesem Berge: Hebe dich und wirf dich ins Meer, so wird´s geschehen.
Jesus answered them, "Truly I tell you, if you have faith, and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you told this mountain, 'Be taken up and cast into the sea,' it would be done.
22 Und alles, was ihr bittet im Gebet, mit Glauben, werdet ihr empfangen.
All things, whatever you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive."
23 Und als er in den Tempel kam, traten zu ihm, während er lehrte, die Hohenpriester und Ältesten des Volkes, und sprachen: In welcher Macht tust du das? und wer hat dir diese Macht gegeben?
When he had come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to him as he was teaching, and said, "By what authority do you do these things? Who gave you this authority?"
24 Jesus aber antwortete, und sprach zu ihnen: Ich will euch auch ein Wort fragen, wenn ihr mir das saget, dann werde ich euch sagen, aus welcher Macht ich solches tue:
Jesus answered them, "I also will ask you one question, which if you tell me, I likewise will tell you by what authority I do these things.
25 Woher war die Taufe Johannis? aus dem Himmel (d. h. Gott) oder aus Menschen? Sie aber dachten bei sich selbst so: Wenn wir sagen "aus dem Himmel", so wird er uns sagen: Warum habt ihr ihm denn nicht geglaubt?
The baptism of John, where was it from? From heaven or from people?" They reasoned with themselves, saying, "If we say, 'From heaven,' he will ask us, 'Why then did you not believe him?'
26 Wenn wir aber sagen "aus Menschen", so fürchten wir das Volk, denn alle halten Johannes für einen Propheten.
But if we say, 'From people,' we fear the crowd, for all hold John as a prophet."
27 Und sie antworteten Jesus, und sprachen: Wir wissen´s nicht. Da sagte auch er zu ihnen: So sage ich euch auch nicht, aus was für Macht ich das tue.
They answered Jesus, and said, "We do not know." He also said to them, "Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.
28 Was dünkt euch aber? Ein Mensch hatte zwei Kinder, und ging zu dem ersten, und sprach: Kind, ehe heute, und arbeite in meinem Weinberg!
But what do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to the first, and said, 'Son, go work today in the vineyard.'
29 Er aber antwortete, und sprach: Ich will nicht. Hierauf aber reute es ihn, und ging.
He answered, 'I will not,' but afterward he changed his mind, and went.
30 Und er trat zum andern, und sprach gleich also. Der aber antwortete und sprach: Ja, Herr! und ging nicht.
And he came to the other, and said the same thing. And he answered and said, 'I go, sir,' but he did not go.
31 Wer von den Zweien hat den Willen des Vaters getan? Sie aber sagten: Der erste. Sagt Jesus zu ihnen: Wahrlich, ich sage euch, daß die Zöllner und Huren vor euch in die Himmelsherrschaft kommen werden.
Which of the two did the will of his father?" They said, "The first." Jesus said to them, "Truly I tell you that the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering into the Kingdom of God before you.
32 Denn Johannes kam zu euch auf dem Wege der Gerechtigkeit, und ihr habt ihm nicht geglaubt, aber die Zöllner und Huren haben ihm geglaubt, und als ihr es sahet, da habt ihr doch nicht hintendrein eure Gesinnung geändert, daß ihr ihm geglaubt hättet.
For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes believed him. When you saw it, you did not even repent afterward, that you might believe him.
33 Höret ein anderes Gleichnis! Es war ein Hausherr, der pflanzte einen Weinberg, und führte einen Zaun darum, und grub in ihm eine Kelter, und baute einen Turm, und tat ihn Weingärtnern aus, und zog über Land.
"Hear another parable. There was a landowner who planted a vineyard, set a hedge about it, dug a winepress in it, built a tower, leased it out to tenant farmers, and went on a journey.
34 Als aber die Zeit der Früchte herbeikam, sandte er seine Knechte zu den Weingärtnern, daß sie seine Früchte in Empfang nähmen.
When the season for the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the tenants, to receive his fruit.
35 Und die Weingärtner nahmen seine Knechte, einen schlugen sie, den andern aber töteten sie, den dritten steinigten sie.
The tenants took his servants, beat one, killed another, and stoned another.
36 Abermals sandte er andere und mehr Knechte, als die ersten, und sie taten ihnen gleichalso.
Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they treated them the same way.
37 Zuletzt aber sandte er zu ihnen seinen Sohn, und sagte: Sie werden sich vor meinem Sohn scheuen.
But afterward he sent to them his son, saying, 'They will respect my son.'
38 Die Weingärtner aber, als sie den Sohn sahen, sprachen untereinander: Dieser ist der Erbe; auf! laßt uns ihn töten, und wir werden sein Erbe besitzen!
But the tenants, when they saw the son, said among themselves, 'This is the heir. Come, let us kill him, and have his inheritance.'
39 Und sie nahmen ihn, stießen ihn zum Weinberg hinaus, und töteten ihn.
So they took him, and threw him out of the vineyard, and killed him.
40 Wenn nun der Herr des Weinberges kommt, was wird er jenen Weingärtnern tun?
When therefore the lord of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those tenants?"
41 Sie sagen ihm: Arg wird er die Argen umbringen, und seinen Weinberg wird er andern Weingärtnern geben, welche ihm die Früchte abliefern zu ihrer Zeit.
They told him, "He will utterly destroy those evil men, and will lease out the vineyard to other tenants, who will give him the fruit in its season."
42 Spricht Jesus zu ihnen: Habt ihr noch nie gelesen in der Schrift: "Der Stein, den die Bauleute verworfen haben, ist zum Eckstein geworden. Vom Herrn ist das geschehen, und ist wunderbar vor unseren Augen."
Jesus said to them, "Did you never read in the Scriptures, 'The stone which the builders rejected, the same was made the head of the corner. This was from the Lord. It is marvelous in our eyes?'
43 Darum sage ich zu euch, daß die Gottesherrschaft von euch weggenommen werden wird, und einem (heidnischen) Volke gegeben, das seine Früchte bringt.
"Therefore I tell you, the Kingdom of God will be taken away from you, and will be given to a nation bringing forth its fruit.
44 Und wer auf diesen Stein fällt, der wird zerschellen, auf welchen er aber fällt, den wird er zermalmen.
He who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; but on whomever it will fall, it will crush him."
45 Und da die Hohenpriester und Pharisäer diese seine Gleichnisse hörten, merkten sie, daß er von ihnen rede.
When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parables, they perceived that he spoke about them.
46 Und sie suchten ihn zu greifen, fürchteten aber die Volkshaufen, weil sie ihn für einen Propheten hielten.
When they sought to seize him, they feared the crowds, because they considered him to be a prophet.
