Matthaeus 20
1 Denn die Himmelsherrschaft ist gleich einem Hausherrn, welcher mit dem frühen Morgen ausging, Arbeiter in seinen Weinberg zu dingen.
For the kingdom of heaven is like a man, the lord of a house, who went out, at dawn of day, to hire laborers for his vineyard.
2 Und da er mit den Arbeiten eins ward um einen Denar im Tag, sandte er sie in seinen Weinberg.
And he contracted with the labors for a denarius a day: and sent them into his vineyard.
3 Und ging aus um die dritte Stunde, und sah andere auf dem Markte müßig stehen,
And he went out at the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the market-place:
4 Und sprach zu ihnen: Gehet auch ihr hin in den Weinberg, und was gerecht ist will ich euch geben.
and he said to them, Go ye also into my vineyard, and what is right I will give you;
5 Abermals ging er aus um die sechste, und um die neunte Stunde, und tat gleich also.
and they went. And again he went out at the sixth and ninth hours, and did the same.
6 Um die erste Stunde aber ging er aus, und fand andere, die da standen, und sagten ihnen: Was stehet ihr hier den ganzen Tag müßig?
And about the eleventh hour, he went out and found others who were standing and idle; and he said to them: Why stand ye all the day, and are idle?
7 Sie sagten ihm: Es hat uns niemand gedingt. Sagt er ihnen: Gehet auch ihr hin in den Weinberg, und was gerecht ist, werdet ihr empfangen. -
They say to him, Because no one hath hired us. He saith to them: Go ye also into the vineyard; and what is right ye shall receive.
8 Da es nun Abend geworden war, sprach der Herr des Weinberges zu seinem Schaffner: Rufe die Arbeiter, und gib ihnen den Lohn, und hebe an von den Letzten bis zu den Ersten.
And when it was evening, the lord of the vineyard said to his steward: Call the laborers, and give them their wages; and commence with the last, and proceed to the first.
9 Und als die um die elfte Stunde Gedingten kamen, empfingen sie je einen Denar.
And those of the eleventh hour came, and received each a denarius.
10 Und als die Ersten kamen, dachten sie, daß sie mehr empfangen würden, aber auch sie empfingen je einen Denar.
And when the first came, they supposed they should receive more; but they also received each a denarius.
11 Da sie den empfingen, murrten sie wider den Hausherrn,
And when they received it, they murmured against the lord of the house,
12 Und sprach: Diese Letzten haben eine Stunde gearbeitet, und du hast sie uns gleichgemacht, die wir die Last des Tages und die Hitze getragen haben.
and said: These last have labored but one hour, and thou hast made them equal with us who have borne the burden of the day and the heat of it.
13 Er aber antwortete, und sprach zu einem von ihnen: Freund! ich tue dir nicht Unrecht. Wirst du nicht mit mir eins geworden um einen Denar?
But he answered, and said to one of them: My friend, I do thee no injustice: was it not for a denarius that thou didst contract with me?
14 Nimm das Deine, und gehe! Ich will aber diesen Letzten geben gleich, wie dir;
Take what belongeth to thee, and go: for I am disposed to give to this last, as to thee.
15 Oder ist es mir nicht erlaubt, mit dem Meinen zu machen, was ich will? Siehst du darum scheel, weil ich so gütig bin?
Is it not lawful for me, to do what I please with what belongeth to me; or is thy eye evil, because I am good?
16 Also werden die Letzten Erste und die Ersten Letzte sein, denn viele sind berufen, aber wenige sind auserwählt.
Thus the last shall be first, and the first last: for the called are many, but the chosen are few.
17 Und als Jesus nach Jerusalem hinaufzog, nahm er die zwölf Jünger zu sich besonders, auf dem Wege, und sprach zu ihnen:
And Jesus was about to go up to Jerusalem: and he took his twelve disciples aside, on the way, and said to them:
18 Siehe, wir ziehen hinauf gen Jerusalem und der Menschensohn wird überliefert werden den Hohenpriestern und Schriftgelehrten, und sie werden ihn verdammen zum Tode;
Behold we are going to Jerusalem; and the Son of man will be delivered up to the chief priests and to the Scribes, and they will condemn him to death.
19 Und werden ihn den Heiden überliefern, zu verspotten, und zu geißeln, und zu kreuzigen, aber am dritten Tage wird er wieder auferstehen.
And they will deliver him over to the Gentiles: and they will mock him, and will scourge him, and will crucify him; and the third day, he will arise.
20 Da trat zu ihm die Mutter der Söhne Zebedäi mit ihren Söhnen, fiel vor ihm nieder, und bat etwas von ihm.
Then came, to him the mother of Zebedee's children, she and her sons; and she worshipped him, and asked something from him.
21 Er aber sprach zu ihr: Was willst du? Sie fragte ihm: Sprich, daß diese meine zwei Söhne, einer zu deiner Rechten und einer zu deiner Linken sitzen mögen in deiner Königsherrschaft.
And he said to her, What desirest thou? She said to him: Say, that these my two sons shall sit, the one on thy right hand and the other on thy left, in thy kingdom.
22 Jesus aber antwortete, und sprach: Ihr wisset nicht, was ihr bittet. Könnt ihr den Kelch trinken, den ich trinken werde? oder getauft werden mit der Taufe, da ich mit getauft werde? Sie sagen ihm: Wir können.
Jesus answered and said: Ye know not what ye ask for. Can ye drink of the cup, of which I am to drink? or be baptized with the baptism, that I am baptized with? They say to him: We can.
23 Und er sagt ihnen: Meinen Kelch zwar werdet ihr trinken, und mit der Taufe, da ich mit getauft werde, sollt ihr getauft werden aber das Sitzen zu meiner Rechten und zu meiner Linken steht nicht bei mir zu vergeben, sondern denen es bereitet ist von meinem Vater.
He saith to them: Ye will indeed drink of my cup, and will be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but that ye should sit on my right hand and on my left, is not mine to give, except to those for whom it is prepared by my Father.
24 Und als die Zehn das hörten, wurden sie böse über die zwei Brüder.
And when the ten heard it, they were angry against the two brothers.
25 Jesus aber rief sie zu sich, und sprach: Ihr wisset, daß die Regenten der (heidnischen) Völker sie von oben hinunter beherrschen, und die Großen sie vergewaltigen.
And Jesus called them, and said to them: Ye know that the princes of the nations are their lords, and their great men exercise authority over them.
26 So soll es nicht sein unter euch, sondern wer unter euch groß werden will, der sei euer Diener;
Not so shall it be among you. But whoever among you desireth to be great, let him be to you, a ministerer:
27 Und wer unter euch der Erste sein will, der sei euer Knecht!
and whoever among you desireth to be first, let him be your servant:
28 Gleichwie der Menschensohn nicht gekommen ist sich dienen zu lassen, sondern zu dienen, und seine Seele als Lösegeld für viele hinzugeben.
even as the Son of man came, not to be served, but to serve; and to give his life a ransom for many.
29 Und als sie aus Jericho zogen, folgte ihnen viel Volk nach.
And as Jesus passed out of Jericho, a great multitude followed him.
30 Und siehe, zwei Blinde saßen am Weg. Da sie hörten, daß Jesus vorübergeht, schrieen sie, und sprachen: Erbarme dich unser! Herr, Sohn Davids!
And lo, two blind men were sitting by the way side. And when they heard that Jesus was passing, they called out, and said: Have compassion on us, my Lord, thou son of David!
31 Der Volkshaufen aber drohte ihnen, daß sie schwiegen; sie aber schrieen um so mehr, und sprachen: Erbarme dich unser! Herr, Sohn Davids!
And the multitudes rebuked them, that they might be silent. But they raised their voice the more, and said: Our Lord, have compassion on us, thou son of David.
32 Und Jesus stand still, rief sie, und sprach: Was wollt ihr, daß ich euch tun soll?
And Jesus stopped, and called them, and said: What wish ye, that I should do for you?
33 Sie sagen ihm: Herr, daß unsere Augen aufgetan werden!
They said to him: Our Lord, that our eyes may be opened.
34 Und es jammerte Jesus, und er rührte ihre Augen an, und alsbald wurden sie sehend, und folgten ihm nach.
And he had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes were opened, and they followed him.
