Lukas 2
1 Es geschah aber in jenen Tagen, daß ein Gebot ausging vom Kaiser Agustus, daß alle Welt sich aufschreiben lasse.
Now in those days an edict was published by Augustus Cesar, that all the world should be enrolled or taxed,
2 Diese erste Aufschreibung geschah, als Quirinus Landpfleger in Syrien war.
(this tax was first levied when Cyrenius was governor of Syria) and they all went to be enrolled,
3 Und es ging alle, sich aufschreiben zu lassen, ein jeglicher in seine eigene Stadt.
every one to his own city:
4 Es zog aber auch Joseph hinauf von Galiläa, aus der Stadt Nazareth, nach Judäa, in die Stadt Davids, welche Bethlehem heißt, darum daß er von dem Haus und Geschlecht Davids war,
so Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem (because he
5 Damit er sich aufschreiben lasse, mit Maria, seinem verlobten Weibe, die war schwanger.
was of the house and line of David) to be enrolled with Mary his espoused wife, who was big with child.
6 Es geschah aber, als sie daselbst waren, daß die Tage, in welchen sie gebären sollten, voll wurden.
And while they were there, the days of her delivery were fulfilled,
7 Und sie gebar ihren erstgeborenen Sohn, und wickelte ihn in Windeln, und legte ihn in eine Krippe, weil sie keinen Platz hatten in der Herberge.
and she brought forth her son, the first-born, and wrapped him in swaddling cloths, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
8 Und es waren Hirten in jener Gegend, die hielten des Nachts Wache auf freiem Felde bei ihrer Herde.
And there were in the same country shepherds out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night: and lo,
9 Und siehe, der Engel des Herrn stund bei ihnen, und die Herrlichkeit des Herrn umleuchtete sie, und sie fürchteten sich ganz fürchterlich.
an angel of the Lord stood over them, and the glory of the Lord shone round them, and they were greatly terrified:
10 Und der Engel sprach zu ihnen: Fürchtet euch nicht, denn siehe, ich verkündige euch große Freude, die dem ganzen Volke (Israel) widerfahren wird,
and the angel said to them, Be not affrighted; for behold I bring you good tidings of great joy which shall be to all people,
11 Denn euch ist heute ein Heiland geboren, welcher ist der Messias, der Herr, in der Stadt Davids.
that this day is born, in the city of David, your Saviour Christ the Lord.
12 Und dies sei euch das Zeichen: Ihr werdet finden ein Kindlein in Windeln gewickelt, und in einer Krippe liegend.
And this shall be a sign to you, Ye shall find the child wrapped in swaddling bands lying in a manger.
13 Und plötzlich war mit dem Engel eine Menge des himmlischen Heeres, die lobten Gott, und sprachen:
And on a sudden there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host,
14 Ehre sei Gott in den Höhen! Friede auf Erden! An Menschen Wohlgefallen!
praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good-will towards men.
15 Und es geschah, als die Engel von ihnen gegangen waren, in den Himmel, da sprachen die Hirten zu einander: Lasset uns gehen gen Bethlehem, und diese Sache sehen, die geschehen ist, und die der Herr und kund getan hat.
And when the angels went from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, Let us go to Bethlehem, and see this which hath been told us, which the Lord hath made known unto us.
16 Und sie kamen eilend, und fanden Maria und Joseph, und das Kind in der Krippe liegend.
And they came with speed, and found both Mary and Joseph, and the child lying in the manger:
17 Und da sie gesehen hatten, machten sie die Sache kund, die ihnen von diesem Kinde gesagt war.
and when they had seen it, they divulged what had been told them concerning this child:
18 Und alle, die es hörten, verwunderten sich über das, was ihnen die Hirten gesagt hatten.
and all that heard it, were amazed at the things which were related to them by the shepherds.
19 Maria aber bewahrte alle diese Dinge, und bewegte sie in ihrem Herzen.
But Mary treasured up all these words, pondering them in her heart.
20 Und die Hirten kehrten um, und lobten und priesen Gott, um alles sie, das sie gehört und gesehen hatten, so wie ihnen gesagt war.
And the shepherds returned glorifying and praising God for all the things which they had heard and seen, according as it had been told unto them.
21 Und als acht Tage um waren, da ward sein Name genannt: Jesus, welcher genannt war von dem Engel, ehe er im Mutterleibe empfangen war.
And when eight days were fulfilled for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, having been so called by the angel before He was conceived in the womb.
22 Und als die Tage ihrer Reinigung nach dem Gesetz Mosis erfüllt waren, brachten sie ihn hinauf nach Jerusalem, um ihn dem Herrn darzustellen;
And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were fulfilled, they brought Him to Jerusalem to present Him before the Lord:
23 Wie geschrieben steht im Gesetz des Herrn: Jedes Männlein, das die Mutter aufbricht, soll dem Herrn heilig heißen;
(as it is written in the law of the Lord, That every male that openeth the womb shall be called holy to the Lord: ) and to offer a sacrifice,
24 Und damit sie ein Opfer brächten, nach dem, das gesagt ist im Gesetz des Herrn: ein Paar Turteltauben, oder zwei junge Tauben.
according to what is required in the law of the Lord, a pair of turtle-doves or two young pigeons.
25 Und siehe, es war ein Mensch in Jerusalem, mit Namen Symeon, und dieser Mensch war gerecht und gottesfürchtig, und wartete auf den Trost Israels, und heiliger Geist war auf ihm.
And there was a man at Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon, and he was a just and a religious man, who expected the consolation of Israel; and the holy Spirit was upon him.
26 Und es war ihm geoffenbart von dem heiligen Geist, daß er den Tod nicht sehen werde, ehe er den Messias des Herrn gesehen hätte.
And it was revealed to him by the holy Spirit, that he should not die before he had seen the Anointed of the Lord.
27 Und er kam in dem Geiste in den Tempel. Und als die Eltern das Kindlein Jesus hineintrugen, damit sie täten nach der Sitte des Gesetzes, für ihn,
And he came by the influence of the Spirit into the temple, as his parents brought in the child Jesus to do concerning Him according to the custom of the law:
28 Da nahm er es in seine Arme, und lobte Gott, und sprach:
and he took Him into his arms,
29 Nun entlässest du, Gebieter, deinen Knecht im Frieden, wie du gesagt hast,
and blessed God, and said, "Now, Lord, thou dismissest thy servant in peace, according to thy word;
30 Denn meine Augen haben dein Heil gesehen,
for mine eyes have seen thy salvation, which thou hast provided in the sight of all people,
31 Das du bereitet hast im Angesicht aller Völker,
a light for the enlightening of the Gentiles,
32 Licht zur Offenbarung für die Heiden, und Herrlichkeit für dein Volk Israel.
and the glory of thy people Israel."
33 Und sein Vater und seine Mutter waren verwundert ob dem, das über ihn geredet ward.
And Joseph and his mother were amazed at the things that were spoken concerning Him.
34 Und Symeon segnete sie, und sprach zu Maria, seiner Mutter: Siehe, dieser steht da zum Fallen und Aufstehen vieler in Israel, und zum Zeichen, dem widersprochen wird;
And Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary his mother, Behold, this child is appointed for the fall and rising again of many in Israel, and for a sign which shall be spoken against,
35 Und auch dir selbst wird ein Schwert die Seele durchbohren; damit vieler Herzen Gedanken offenbar werden.
(and a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also) that the thoughts of many hearts may be discovered.
36 Und es war eine Prophetin, Hanna, eine Tochter Phanuels vom Stamme Aser, die war hochbetagt, und hatte gelebt mit ihrem Manne sieben Jahre nach ihrer Jungfrauschaft,
And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser; who was of a great age, having lived with a husband seven years from her first marrying,
37 Und sie war eine Witwe bei vierundachzig Jahren, die nicht von dem Tempel wich, sondern diente Gott mit Fasten und Gebet, Nacht und Tag.
and had been a widow about eighty four years; who departed not from the temple; serving God with fastings and prayers night and day.
38 Und sie trat hinzu in selbiger Stunde, pries den Herrn, und redete von ihm zu allen, die auf die Erlösung warteten in Jerusalem.
And coming in at the very same time, gave thanks unto the Lord, and spake of Him to all that were looking for redemption in Jerusalem.
39 Und da sie alles vollendet hatten nach dem Gesetz des Herrn, kehrten sie zurück nach Galiläa, in ihre Stadt Nazareth.
And when they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city Nazareth.
40 Das Kindlein aber wuchs, und erstarkte, voller Weisheit; und Gottes Gnade war auf ihm.
And the child grew, and became strong in spirit, being filled with wisdom; and the grace of God was upon Him.
41 Und seine Eltern gingen jährlich gen Jerusalem auf das Passahfest.
Now his parents went every year to Jerusalem at the feast of the passover:
42 Und als er zwölf Jahre alt war, gingen sie hinauf gen Jerusalem nach der Gewohnheit des Festes.
and when He was twelve years old, going up to Jerusalem, as usual at the feast, and having finished the time,
43 Und da sie die Tage vollendet hatten, und zurückkehrten, blieb der Knabe Jesus in Jerusalem, und seine Eltern wußten es nicht.
when they returned, the child Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem: and Joseph and his mother did not know it;
44 Sie meinten aber, er wäre bei der Reisegesellschaft, und kamen eine Tagesreise, und suchten ihn auf bei den Verwandten und Bekannten.
but supposing Him to be in the company, went a day's journey, and then sought for Him among their kindred and acquaintance:
45 Und da sie ihn nicht fanden, kehrten sie zurück nach Jerusalem, und suchten ihn.
and not finding Him they returned to Jerusalem seeking for Him:
46 Und es geschah nach drei Tagen, fanden sie ihn im Tempel, sitzend in der Mitte der Lehrer, indem er ihnen zuhörte und sie fragte.
and after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, attending to them and asking them questions.
47 Alle aber, die ihn hörten, verwunderten sich seines Verstandes und seiner Antworten.
And all that heard Him were astonished at his understanding and his answers.
48 Und als sie ihn sahen, waren sie erstaunt, und seine Mutter sprach zu ihm: Kind, warum hast du uns das getan? Siehe, dein Vater und ich haben dich mit Schmerzen gesucht.
And when they saw Him, they were amazed. And his mother said to Him, Son, why didst thou deal thus with us? behold, thy father and I with grief have been seeking for thee.
49 Und er sprach zu ihnen: Warum habt ihr mich gesucht? Wußtet ihr nicht, daß ich sein muß in dem, was meines Vaters ist?
And He said to them, Why did ye so seek me? Did not ye know that I ought to be in my Father's house?
50 Und sie verstanden das Wort nicht, welches er ihnen sagte.
but they did not understand the word which He spake to them.
51 Und er ging mit ihnen hinab, und kam nach Nazareth, und war ihnen untertan. Und seine Mutter bewahrte alle diese Dinge in ihrem Herzen. -
Then He went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them. And his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.
52 Und Jesus nahm zu an Weisheit und Körpergröße und Gnade bei Gott und Menschen.
And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.
