Johannes 13
1 Vor dem Passahfest aber, als Jesus wußte, daß seine Stunde gekommen war, daß er aus dieser Welt zum Vater ginge - wie er geliebt hatte die Seinen, die in der Welt waren, so liebte er sie bis ans Ende.
And before the feast of the passover, Jesus knew that the hour had come when he should depart from this world unto the Father. And he loved his own people, who were in the world; and he loved them unto the end.
2 Und als ein Mahl gehalten ward, nachdem schon der Teufel in das Herz des Judas Simon´s (Sohn) Ischariot eingegeben hatte, daß er ihn verriete,
And when the supper was passed, it had been injected by Satan into the heart of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, to betray him.
3 Wußte Jesus, daß ihm der Vater alles in die Hände gegeben hatte, und daß er von Gott ausgegangen war, und zu Gott ging,
And Jesus, because he knew that the Father had given all things into his hands; and that he came out from the Father, and was going to God;
4 Und stund auf von dem Mahle, und legte seine Kleider ab, und nahm ein leinenes Tuch, und umgürtete sich;
arose from the supper, and laid aside his long garments, and took a linen cloth, and wrapped it about his loins;
5 Darauf gießt er Wasser in das Waschbecken, und fing an, die Füße seiner Jünger zu waschen, und mit dem leinenen Tuch abzutrocknen, womit er umgürtet war.
and poured water into a wash-basin, and began to wash the feet of his disciples: and he wiped them with the linen cloth with which he had girded his loins.
6 Da kommt er zu Simon Petrus, und derselbe sagt ihm: Herr, du wäschest meine Füße?
And when he came to Simon Cephas, Simon said to him: Dost thou, my Lord, wash my feet for me?
7 Jesus antwortete, und sprach zu ihm: Was ich tue, daß weißt du jetzt nicht, du wirst es aber hernach erfahren.
Jesus answered, and said to him: What I do, thou understandest not now: but hereafter thou wilt understand.
8 Sagt ihm Petrus: Nun und nimmermehr sollst du meine Füße waschen. Jesus antwortete ihm: Wenn ich dich nicht wasche, so hast du keinen Teil an mir. (aiōn g165)
Simon Cephas said to him: Never shalt thou wash my feet. Jesus said to him: Unless I wash thee, thou hast no part with me. (aiōn g165)
9 Sagt ihm Simon Petrus: Herr, nicht die Füße allein, sondern auch die Hände und das Haupt.
Simon Cephas said to him: Then, my Lord, not my feet only shalt thou wash, but also my hands and my head.
10 Sagt ihm Jesus: Wer gebadet ist, der hat nur nötig, daß seine Füße gewaschen werden, darum, daß er ganz rein ist; und ihr seid rein, aber nicht alle.
Jesus said to him: He that hath bathed, needeth not but to wash his feet; for he is all clean. And ye also are clean; but not all of you.
11 Denn er kannte seinen Verräter, deshalb sprach er: Ihr seid nicht alle rein.
For Jesus knew, who would betray him: therefore he said, Ye are not all clean.
12 Als er nun ihre Füße gewaschen, und seine Kleider angezogen hatte, legte er sich nieder zu Tische, und sagte ihnen: Wisset ihr, was ich euch getan habe?
And when he had washed their feet, he resumed his long garments, and reclined. And he said to them: Understand ye what I have done to you?
13 Ihr nennt mich Lehrer und Herr; das ist ganz recht, denn ich bin es.
Ye call me, Our Rabbi, and Our Lord; and ye speak well; for I am so.
14 Wenn nun ich, der Herr und Lehrer, eure Füße gewaschen habe, so müßt auch ihr einander die Füße waschen.
If then I, your Lord and your Rabbi, have washed your feet, how much more ought ye to wash the feet of one another?
15 Denn ein Beispiel habe ich euch gegeben, damit auch ihr tut, wie ich euch getan habe.
For I have given you this example, that ye might do, as I have done to you.
16 Wahrlich, wahrlich, ich sage euch: Ein Knecht ist nicht größer, als sein Herr; noch ein Sendbote größer, als der ihn ausgesandt hat.
Verily, verily, I say to you, That no servant is greater than his lord; and no legate is greater than he who sent him.
17 Wenn ihr dieses wisset, selig seid ihr, wenn ihr es tut.
If ye know these things, happy will ye be if ye do them.
18 Ich sage nicht von euch allen; ich weiß, welche ich auserwählt habe, sondern damit die Schrift erfüllt würde: "Der mit mir das Brot ißt, hat seine Ferse wider mich erhoben."
Not of you all, do I speak: I know whom I have chosen. But that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me, hath lifted his heel against me.
19 Schon jetzt sage ich es euch, ehe geschieht, damit, wenn es geschieht, ihr glaubet, daß ich (der Messias) bin.
From this time, I tell you, before it occurs, that when it shall occur, ye may know that I am he.
20 Wahrlich, wahrlich, ich sage euch: Wer den aufnimmt, welchen ich sende, der nimmt mich auf, und wer mich aufnimmt, der nimmt den auf, der mich gesandt hat.
Verily, verily, I say to you: He that receiveth him whom I send, receiveth me; and he that receiveth me, receiveth him that sent me.
21 Als Jesus dieses gesprochen hatte, ward er erschüttert im Geist, und bezeugte, und sprach: Wahrlich, wahrlich, ich sage euch: Einer unter euch wird mich verraten.
These things said Jesus, and he was agitated in his spirit; and he testified, and said: Verily, verily, I say to you, That one of you will betray me.
22 Da sahen die Jünger einander an, und waren verlegen, von wem er rede.
And the disciples stared at one another; because they knew not, of whom he spake.
23 Es war aber einer von seinen Jüngern, der lag am Busen Jesus, welchen Jesus lieb hatte.
And there was one of his disciples, who was reclining on his bosom, he whom Jesus loved;
24 Diesem winkte nun Simon Petrus, zu forschen, wer es wäre, von dem er rede.
to him Simon Cephas beckoned, that he should ask him, who it was of whom he spoke.
25 Da legte sich derselbst an die die Brust Jesu, und sagt ihm: Herr, wer ist´s?
And that disciple fell upon the breast of Jesus, and said to him: My Lord, which is he?
26 Jesus antwortet: Derjenige ist´s, welchen ich den Bissen eintauche und geben werde. Und er tauchte den Bissen ein, und gab ihn Judas, Simons (Sohn), dem Ischariot.
Jesus answered and said: He it is, to whom I give the bread when I have dipped it. And Jesus dipped the bread, and gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.
27 Und nach dem Bissen, da fuhr der Satan in denselben. Jesus aber sagte ihm: Was du tust, das tue bald!
And after the bread, then Satan entered into him. And Jesus said to him: What thou doest, do quickly.
28 Dies verstand aber keiner von den zu Tische Liegenden, wozu er es ihm sagte.
And no one of those reclining, knew, wherefore he said this to him.
29 Denn etliche meinten, weil Judas die Kasse hatte, so sage ihm Jesus: Kaufe, was wir nötig haben auf das Fest, oder daß er den Armen etwas gebe.
For some of them supposed, because the purse was in the hands of Judas, that Jesus expressly charged him to buy something needful for the feast, or that he should give something to the poor.
30 Bald nun, nachdem er den Bissen genommen hatte, ging derselbe hinaus. Es war aber Nacht. - Als er nun hinausgegangen war,
And Judas took the bread at once, and went out of the house. And it was night when he went out.
31 Sagt Jesus: Jetzt ist der Menschensohn verherrlicht, und Gott ist verherrlicht in ihm.
And Jesus said: Now is the Son of man glorified; and God is glorified in him.
32 Wenn Gott in ihm verherrlicht ist, so wird ihn Gott auch in sich selbst verherrlichen, und wird ihn bald verherrlichen.
And if God is glorified in him, God will glorify him in himself; and will glorify him speedily.
33 Kindlein! noch eine kleine Weile bin ich bei euch. Ihr werdet mich suchen, und wie ich den Juden gesagt habe, daß wo ich hingehe, ihr nicht hinkommen könnt, so sage ich jetzt auch euch.
My children, a little longer I am with you; and ye will seek for me; and, as I said to the Jews, Whither I go ye cannot come, so I now say to you.
34 Ein neues Gebot gebe ich euch, daß ihr einander liebet, wie ich euch geliebt habe, auf daß auch ihr einander liebet.
A new commandment I give to you, that ye be affectionate to each other. As I have loved you, do ye also love one another.
35 An diesem werden alle erkennen, daß ihr meine Jünger seid, wenn ihr Liebe untereinander habt.
By this will every one know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love for each other.
36 Sagt ihm Simon Petrus: Herr, wo gehst du hin? Jesus antwortete ihm: Wo ich hingehe, kannst du mir jetzt nicht nachfolgen, später aber wirst du mir nachfolgen.
Simon Cephas said to him: Our Lord, whither goest thou? Jesus answered, and said to him: Whither I go, thou canst not now come after me; but thou wilt at last come.
37 Sagt ihm Petrus: Herr, warum kann ich dir gerade jetzt nicht folgen? meine Seele will ich für dich hingeben.
Simon Cephas said to him: My Lord, why can I not come after thee? I would lay down my life for thee.
38 Jesus antwortete ihm: Deine Seele willst du für mich hingeben? Wahrlich, wahrlich, ich sage dir, der Hahn wird nicht krähen, bis du mich dreimal verleugnet hast.
Jesus said to him: Wouldst thou lay down thy life for me? Verily, verily, I say to thee, The cock will not crow, until thou hast three times denied me.
