Johannes 1
1 Im Anfang war das Wort, und das Wort war bei Gott, und das Wort war Gott;
IN the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 Dieses war im Anfang bei Gott.
He was in the beginning with God.
3 Alles ist durch es geworden, und ohne es ist auch nicht eines geworden, was geworden ist.
All things were made by him; and without him was not one thing made that was made.
4 In ihm war Leben, und das Leben war das Licht der Menschen.
In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5 Und das Licht scheint in der Finsternis, und die Finsternis hat es nicht erfaßt.
And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness did not comprehend it.
6 Es war ein Mensch, von Gott gesandt, sein Name war Johannes.
A man was sent from God, whose name was John.
7 Derselbe kam zum Zeugnis, damit er zeugte von dem Licht, damit alle durch ihn glauben sollten.
He came for a witness, that he might bear testimony concerning the Light, that all men through him might believe.
8 Derselbige war nicht das Licht, sondern damit er zeugte von dem Licht.
He was not the Light, but sent that he should bear testimony concerning the Light.
9 Das wahrhaftige Licht, welches jeden Menschen erleuchtet, war in die Welt kommend.
He was that true Light, which illumines every man by his coming into the world.
10 Es war in der Welt, und die Welt ist durch es geworden, und die Welt erkannte ihn nicht.
He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
11 Er kam in das Seine, und die Seinigen nahmen ihn nicht auf;
He came unto his peculiar people, and his peculiar people did not receive him.
12 Wieviele ihn aber annahmen, denen gab er Macht, Kinder Gottes zu werden, den an seinen Namen Gläubigen,
But as many as did receive him, on them he bestowed authority to become children of God, even on those who believe on his name:
13 Welche nicht aus dem Geblüt, noch aus dem Willen des Fleisches, noch aus dem Willen eines Mannes, sondern aus Gott gezeugt sind.
who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
14 Und das Wort ward Fleisch, und wohnte unter uns, und wir sahen seine Herrlichkeit, eine Herrlichkeit, wie des Eingeborenen vom Vater, voller Gnade und Wahrheit. -
And the Word became incarnate, and tabernacled with us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, ) full of grace and truth.
15 Johannes zeugt von ihm; rief und sprach: Dieser war es, von dem ich sprach: Der nach mir kommt, der ist vor mir geworden, denn er war erster vor mir.
John bore witness concerning him, and cried, saying, This is he of whom I said, He that is coming after me, is before me: because before me he was.
16 Und aus seiner Fülle haben wir alle genommen Gnade um Gnade.
And from his plenitude we all have received, even grace corresponding with his grace.
17 Denn das Gesetz ist durch Moses gegeben, die Gnade und die Wahrheit ist durch Jesus, den Messias, geworden.
For the law was given by Moses, but the grace and the reality came by Jesus Christ.
18 Niemand hat Gott jemals gesehen; der eingeborene Sohn, der in des Vaters Busen ist, der hat es uns verkündigt.
No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he hath thoroughly described him.
19 Und dies ist das Zeugnis des Johannes, als die Juden aus Jerusalem Priester und Leviten sandten, daß sie ihn fragen sollten: Wer bist du?
And this is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent from Jerusalem priests and Levites, that they should question him, Who art thou?
20 Und er bekannte, und leugnete nicht, und bekannte: Ich bin nicht der Messias!
And he confessed, and denied it not; but acknowledged, I am not the Messiah.
21 Und sie frugen ihn: Was denn? Bist du Elias? Und er sagt: Ich bin es nicht. Bist du der Prophet? und er antwortete: Nein.
And they asked him, What then? art thou Elias? and he said, I am not. Art thou that prophet? and he answered, No.
22 Da sprachen sie zu ihm: Wer bist du? damit wir eine Antwort geben denen, die uns gesandt haben? Was sagst du von dir selbst?
Then said they to him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to those who sent us: What description givest thou of thyself?
23 Er sprach: Ich bin "die Stimme eines Rufenden in der Wüste: Ebnet den Weg des Herrn", wie Jesaias, der Prophet, gesagt hat.
He said, I am a voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way for the Lord, as said the prophet Isaiah.
24 Und die Gesandten waren von den Pharisäern.
And they who were sent, were of the Pharisees.
25 Und sie frugen ihn, und sagten ihm: Warum taufst du denn, wenn du nicht de Messias, noch Elias, noch der Prophet bist?
And they questioned him, and said to him, Why then dost thou baptise, if thou be not the Messiah, nor Elias, nor that prophet?
26 Johannes antwortete ihnen, und sprach: Ich taufe in Wasser; aber mitten unter euch steht, welchen ihr nicht kennt,
John answered them, saying, I baptise with water: but in the midst of you hath stood a person, whom ye have not known;
27 Der nach mir kommt, dessen ich nicht würdig bin, daß ich seine Schuhriemen auflöse.
it is he, though coming after me, who was before me, the thong of whole sandal I am not worthy to untie.
28 Dies geschah in Bethanien jenseits des Jordan, wo Johannes taufte.
These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptising.
29 Am Tage nachher sieht er Jesus zu sich kommen, und sagt: Siehe, Gottes Lamm, das die Sünden der Welt wegnimmt.
The next day John seeth Jesus coming to him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, who taketh away the sin of the world,
30 Dieser ist es, von dem ich gesagt habe: Nach mir kommt ein Mann, der vor mir geworden ist, denn er war erster vor mir.
This is he of whom I spake, After me cometh a man who was before me: for before me he existed.
31 Und ich kannte ihn nicht, sondern damit er Israel offenbar würde, darum bin ich gekommen, in Wasser zu taufen.
And I knew him not: though that he might be manifested to Israel, therefore am I come baptising with water.
32 Und Johannes zeugte, und sprach: Ich habe den Geist gesehen herabsteigen, wie eine Taube, aus dem Himmel, und er blieb auf ihm.
And John bore witness, saying, I saw the Spirit descending as a dove from heaven, and it rested upon him.
33 Und ich kannte ihn nicht; sondern der mich gesandt hat, im Wasser zu taufen, derselbige sagte zu mir: Auf welchen du siehst den Geist herabsteigen, und auf ihm bleiben, dieser ist der in heiligen Geiste tauft.
And I did not know him: but he that sent me baptising with water, he said to me, Upon whomsoever thou shalt see the Spirit descending as a dove, and resting upon him, that is he who baptiseth with the Holy Ghost.
34 Und ich habe gesehen, und habe bezeugt, daß dieser ist der Sohn Gottes (d. h. der Messias)
And I have seen it, and have borne testimony that this is the Son of God.
35 Am Tage nachher stund Johannes abermal, und zwei von seinen Jüngern,
On the morrow John was again standing with two of his disciples;
36 Und er blickte Jesus an, der umherwandelte, und sagt: Siehe, das Lamm Gottes.
and looking upon Jesus as he walked by, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!
37 Und es hörten ihn seine zwei Jünger reden, und folgten Jesus nach.
And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.
38 Als aber Jesus sich umwandte, und sie nachfolgen sah, sagt er ihnen: Was suchet ihr? Sie aber sprachen zu ihm: Rabbi, das heißt übersetzt Lehrer, wo wohnst du?
Then Jesus turned about, and seeing them following, saith to them, What are ye seeking? They said unto him, Rabbi (which signifies, when translated, Master), where is thy abode?
39 Er sagte ihnen: Kommet und sehet! Sie kamen, und sahen, wo er wohnte, und bleiben jenen Tag bei ihm. Es war etwa die zehnte Stunde.
He saith unto them, Come and see. They came and saw where he abode, and continued with him that day: and it was about the tenth hour.
40 Einer von den Zweien, die von Johannes gehört hatten, und ihm nachfolgten, war Andreas, der Bruder von Simon Petrus.
One of the two, who had heard from John mention of Jesus, and had followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother.
41 Dieser findet zuerst seinen eigenen Bruder Simon, und sagt ihm: Wir haben den Messias gefunden: Das heißt übersetzt (Christus) der Gesalbte.
He first finds his own brother Simon, and saith to him, We have found the Messiah (which is, being translated, the Christ).
42 Und er führte ihn zu Jesus. Als Jesus ihn ansah, sprach er: Du bist Simon, der Sohn Jonas; du wirst Kephas heißen, das ist übersetzt Petrus (Felsenmann).
And he brought him to Jesus. Then Jesus looking on him, said, Thou art Simon the son of Jonas: thou shalt be called Cephas, which, interpreted in Greek, is Petros, a Rock.
43 Am Tage nachher wollte er weggehen nach Galiläa, und findet Philippus, und Jesus sagt ihm: Folge mir nach!
The next day Jesus resolved to go into Galilee, and he findeth Philip, and saith to him, Follow me.
44 Philippus war von Bethsaida, aus der Stadt des Andreas und Petrus.
Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.
45 Philippus findet Nathanael, und sagt ihm: Wir haben den gefunden, von welchem Moses im Gesetz geschrieben hat, und die Propheten, Jesus den Sohn Josephs von Nazareth.
Philip findeth Nathaniel, and saith to him, We have found him whom Moses in the law has described, and the prophets, Jesus the son of Joseph, who is of Nazareth.
46 Und Nathanael sprach zu ihm: Kann aus Nazareth etwas Gutes kommen? Philippus sagt ihm; Komm und siehe!
And Nathaniel said to him, Can any thing good come out of Nazareth? Philip saith to him, Come and see.
47 Jesus sah Nathanael zu sich kommen, und sagt von ihm: Siehe, wahrhaftig ein Israelite, in welchem kein Falsch ist.
Jesus saw Nathaniel coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite in reality, in whom there is no guile!
48 Sagt ihm Nathanael: Woher kennst du mich? Jesus antwortete, und sprach zu ihm: Ehe dich Philippus rief, als du unter dem Feigenbaum warst, sah ich dich.
Nathaniel saith unto him, From whence canst thou know me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig-tree, I saw thee.
49 Nathanael antwortete, und sagt ihm: "Rabbi, du bist der Sohn Gottes, du bist der König Israels.
Nathaniel answered and said to him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the king of Israel.
50 Jesus antwortete, und sprach zu ihm: Weil ich dir gesagt habe, daß ich dich unter dem Feigenbaum sah, glaubst du? Du wirst Größeres, als das, sehen.
Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said to thee, I saw thee under the fig-tree, dost thou believe? thou shalt see greater things than these.
51 Und er sagt ihm: Wahrlich, wahrlich, ich sage euch: Ihr werdet von nun an den Himmel geöffnet sehen, und die Engel Gottes hinauf und herabsteigen auf den Menschensohn.
And he saith to him, Verily, verily, I tell you, From henceforth ye shall see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.
