Sacharja 8

1 Weiter erging das Wort des HERRN der Heerscharen (an mich) folgendermaßen:

And the word of the Lord of armies came to me, saying,

2 »So spricht der HERR der Heerscharen: Ich bin mit großem Liebeseifer um Zion erfüllt und von heftigem Zorn um seinetwillen entbrannt!«

These are the words of the Lord of armies: I am angry about the fate of Zion, I am angry about her with great wrath.

3 So hat der HERR gesprochen: »Ich kehre nach Zion zurück und will wieder inmitten Jerusalems Wohnung nehmen, und Jerusalem soll ›die treue Stadt‹ heißen und der Berg des HERRN der Heerscharen ›der heilige Berg‹.«

This is what the Lord has said: I have come back to Zion, and will make my living-place in Jerusalem: and Jerusalem will be named The town of good faith; and the mountain of the Lord of armies The holy mountain.

4 So hat der HERR der Heerscharen gesprochen: »Wiederum werden Greise und Greisinnen auf den Plätzen Jerusalems sitzen, ein jeder mit seinem Stabe in der Hand infolge der Fülle der Lebenstage;

This is what the Lord of armies has said: There will again be old men and old women seated in the open spaces of Jerusalem, every man with his stick in his hand because he is so old.

5 und die Plätze der Stadt werden wieder angefüllt sein mit Knaben und Mädchen, die auf den Plätzen dort spielen.«

And the open spaces of the town will be full of boys and girls playing in its open spaces.

6 So hat der HERR der Heerscharen gesprochen: »Wenn das dem Überrest dieses Volkes unmöglich erscheint in jenen Tagen, muß es da auch mir unmöglich erscheinen?« – so lautet der Ausspruch des HERRN der Heerscharen.

This is what the Lord of armies has said: If this is a wonder to the rest of this people, is it a wonder to me? says the Lord of armies.

7 So hat der HERR der Heerscharen gesprochen: »Wisset wohl: ich werde mein Volk erretten aus den Ländern des Sonnenaufgangs und aus den Ländern des Sonnenuntergangs

This is what the Lord of armies has said: See, I will be the saviour of my people from the east country, and from the west country;

8 und werde sie heimbringen, daß sie wieder inmitten Jerusalems wohnen; und sie sollen mein Volk sein, und ich will ihr Gott sein in Wahrheit und Gerechtigkeit.«

And I will make them come and be living in Jerusalem and they will be to me a people and I will be to them a God, in good faith and in righteousness.

9 So hat der HERR der Heerscharen gesprochen: »Faßt Mut, ihr, die ihr in diesen Tagen diese Verheißungen aus dem Munde der Propheten vernehmt, nämlich an dem Tage, wo der Grundstein zum Wiederaufbau des Hauses des HERRN der Heerscharen, des Tempels, gelegt wurde!

This is what the Lord of armies has said: Let your hands be strong, you who are now hearing these words from the mouths of the prophets, that is to say, in the days when the base of the house of the Lord of armies has been put in place for the building of the house, that is the Temple.

10 Denn vor dieser Zeit gab es keinen Lohn für die (Arbeit der) Menschen und keinen Ertrag (von der Arbeit) des Viehs, und wer aus- und einging, fühlte sich nicht sicher vor dem Feinde, und ich reizte alle Menschen zur Feindseligkeit gegeneinander.

For before those days there was no payment for a man's work, or for the use of a beast, and there was no peace for him who went out or him who came in, because of the attacker: for I had every man turned against his neighbour.

11 Jetzt aber will ich mich zu dem Überrest dieses Volkes nicht mehr so stellen wie in den früheren Tagen« – so lautet der Ausspruch des HERRN der Heerscharen –,

But now I will not be to the rest of this people as I was in the past, says the Lord of armies.

12 »sondern es wird eine Aussaat des Friedens stattfinden: der Weinstock wird seine Frucht bringen und die Erde ihren Ertrag liefern und der Himmel seinen Tau spenden: dies alles will ich dem Überrest dieses Volkes für immer zuteil werden lassen!

For I will let the seed of peace be planted; the vine will give her fruit and the land will give her increase and the heavens will give their dew; and I will give to the rest of this people all these things for their heritage.

13 Und es soll geschehen: Wie ihr vordem den Völkern zum Fluchwort gedient habt, ihr vom Hause Juda und ihr vom Hause Israel, so will ich euch jetzt Heil verleihen, daß ihr zum Segenswunsch werden sollt: fürchtet euch nicht, habt guten Mut!«

And it will come about that, as you were a curse among the nations, O children of Judah and children of Israel, so I will give you salvation and you will be a blessing: have no fear and let your hands be strong.

14 Denn so hat der HERR der Heerscharen gesprochen: »Gleichwie ich vordem beschlossen hatte, euch Böses zu tun, als eure Väter mich erbitterten« – so spricht der HERR der Heerscharen –, »und ich es mir nicht leid sein ließ,

For this is what the Lord of armies has said: As it was my purpose to do evil to you when your fathers made me angry, says the Lord of armies, and my purpose was not changed:

15 ebenso habe ich nun umgekehrt in diesen Tagen beschlossen, Jerusalem und dem Hause Juda Gutes zu erweisen: fürchtet euch nicht!

So in these days it is again my purpose to do good to Jerusalem and to the children of Judah: have no fear.

16 Dies sind aber die Gebote, die ihr erfüllen sollt: Redet die Wahrheit treulich, jeder mit dem andern, und übt eine friedsame Rechtsprechung in euren Toren!

These are the things which you are to do: Let every man say what is true to his neighbour; and let your judging give peace in your towns.

17 Keiner sinne in seinem Herzen auf Unheil gegen den andern, und keiner habe betrügliche Eide lieb! Denn alles dieses hasse ich« – so lautet der Ausspruch des HERRN.

Let no one have any evil thought in his heart against his neighbour; and have no love for false oaths: for all these things are hated by me, says the Lord.

18 Weiter erging das Wort des HERRN der Heerscharen an mich folgendermaßen:

And the word of the Lord of armies came to me, saying,

19 »So spricht der HERR der Heerscharen: Das Fasten im vierten und fünften, im siebten und zehnten Monat soll für das Haus Juda zu Tagen der Freude und Wonne und zu fröhlichen Festen werden! Nur habt die Wahrheit und den Frieden lieb!

This is what the Lord of armies has said: The times of going without food in the fourth month and in the fifth and the seventh and the tenth months, will be for the people of Judah times of joy and happy meetings; so be lovers of good faith and of peace.

20 So spricht der HERR der Heerscharen: Künftig werden noch Völker und die Bewohner vieler Städte kommen;

This is what the Lord of armies has said: It will again come about that when peoples and those living in great towns come,

21 und die Bewohner der einen Stadt werden zu denen der andern gehen und sagen: ›Kommt, laßt uns hinziehen, um den HERRN (durch Opfer) gnädig zu stimmen und um den HERRN der Heerscharen aufzusuchen! Ja, auch ich will hingehen!‹

And the people of one town go to another and say, Let us certainly go with a request for grace from the Lord, and to give worship to the Lord of armies, then I will go with you.

22 So werden denn viele Völker und zahlreiche Völkerschaften kommen, um den HERRN der Heerscharen in Jerusalem aufzusuchen und um den HERRN (durch Opfer) gnädig zu stimmen.

And great peoples and strong nations will come to give worship to the Lord of armies in Jerusalem and to make requests for grace from the Lord.

23 So spricht der HERR der Heerscharen: In jenen Tagen, da werden zehn Männer aus allen Sprachen der Völker einen jüdischen Mann beim Rockzipfel ergreifen und zu ihm sagen: ›Wir wollen mit euch gehen, denn wir haben vernommen, daß Gott mit euch ist.‹«

This is what the Lord of armies has said: In those days, ten men from all the languages of the nations will put out their hands and take a grip of the skirt of him who is a Jew, saying, We will go with you, for it has come to our ears that God is with you.
