Sacharja 2

1 Als ich dann (abermals) aufblickte und hinschaute, sah ich einen Mann, der eine Meßschnur in der Hand hielt.

And I lifted up my eyes, and looked, and behold, there was a man with a measure-cord in his hand.

2 Als ich ihn nun fragte: »Wohin gehst du?«, antwortete er mir: »Ich soll Jerusalem ausmessen, um festzustellen, wie groß seine Breite und wie groß seine Länge ist.«

Then said I, Whither art thou going? And he said unto me, To measure Jerusalem, to see what is her breadth, and what is her length.

3 Da stand auf einmal der Engel da, der mit mir redete; und ein anderer Engel trat hervor, ihm entgegen,

And, behold, the angel that spoke with me went out, and another angel came out to meet him;

4 und er sagte zu diesem: »Laufe hin und sage dem jungen Manne dort folgendes: ›Eine offene Stadt soll Jerusalem bilden wegen der Menge der Menschen und des Viehs in seinem Innern;

And he said unto him, Run, speak to this young man, saying, Without walls shall Jerusalem be inhabited because of the multitude of men and cattle in her midst.

5 ich selbst aber‹ – so lautet der Ausspruch des HERRN – ›will ihm ringsum eine feurige Mauer sein und ihm zur Verherrlichung in seiner Mitte gereichen.‹«

But I—I will be unto her, saith the Lord, a wall of fire round about, and for glory will I be in the midst of her.

6 »Auf, auf! Fliehet aus dem Lande des Nordens!« – so lautet der Ausspruch des HERRN –; »denn nach allen vier Windrichtungen will ich euch zersprengen« – so lautet der Ausspruch des HERRN.

Up! up! and flee away from the land of the north saith the Lord; for as the four winds of the heaven have I spread you abroad, saith the Lord.

7 »Auf! Nach Zion rettet euch, die ihr noch bei der Tochter Babel wohnt!«

Up, Zion, escape, thou that dwellest with the daughter of Babylon.

8 Denn so hat der HERR der Heerscharen gesprochen: »Nach Herrlichem hat er mich gesandt zu den Heidenvölkern, die euch geplündert haben; denn wer euch antastet, tastet seinen Augapfel an.

For thus hath said the Lord of hosts, For the sake of [your] glory hath he sent me unto the nations that have despoiled you; for whoever toucheth you, toucheth the apple of his eye.

9 Denn wisset wohl: Ich werde meine Hand gegen sie schwingen, daß sie denen zur Beute werden sollen, die jetzt ihre Knechte sind«; dann werdet ihr auch erkennen, daß der HERR der Heerscharen es ist, der mich gesandt hat. –

For, behold, I will swing my hand over them, and they shall be a spoil to those that served them: and ye shall acknowledge that the Lord of hosts hath sent me.

10 »Juble und freue dich, Tochter Zion! Denn wisse wohl: Ich komme und nehme Wohnung in deiner Mitte« – so lautet der Ausspruch des HERRN.

Sing, and rejoice, O daughter of Zion; for, lo, I am coming, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the Lord.

11 »Da werden sich dann an jenem Tage viele Völker an den HERRN anschließen und mir als Volk angehören; und ich werde in deiner Mitte Wohnung nehmen«; dann wirst du auch erkennen, daß der HERR der Heerscharen es ist, der mich zu dir gesandt hat.

And many nations will join themselves to the Lord on that day, and they shall be unto me for a people: and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that the Lord of hosts hath sent me unto thee.

12 Der HERR aber wird Juda als sein Erbteil auf dem heiligen Boden in Besitz nehmen und Jerusalem wiederum erwählen. –

And the Lord will take Judah as his inheritance upon the holy land; and he will again make choice of Jerusalem.

13 Stille sei alles Fleisch vor dem HERRN! Denn er hat sich (bereits) aufgemacht aus seiner heiligen (himmlischen) Wohnstätte.

Be silent, all flesh! before the Lord; for he is waked up out of his holy habitation.
