Rut 4

1 Boas aber war zum Stadttor hinaufgegangen und hatte sich dort niedergesetzt. Als nun gerade der Löser vorüberging, von dem Boas geredet hatte, rief er: »Komm her und setze dich hierher, du Soundso!« Als er nun gekommen war und sich gesetzt hatte,

And Boaz hath gone up to the gate, and sitteth there, and lo, the redeemer is passing by of whom Boaz had spoken, and he saith, 'Turn aside, sit down here, such a one, such a one;' and he turneth aside and sitteth down.

2 holte (Boas) zehn Männer von den Ältesten der Stadt und sagte zu ihnen: »Setzt euch hier nieder!« Als sie sich gesetzt hatten,

And he taketh ten men of the elders of the city, and saith, 'Sit down here;' and they sit down.

3 sagte er zu dem Löser: »Das Stück Land, das unserm Verwandten Elimelech gehört hat, will Noomi verkaufen, die aus dem Lande der Moabiter zurückgekehrt ist.

And he saith to the redeemer, 'A portion of the field which [is] to our brother, to Elimelech, hath Naomi sold, who hath come back from the fields of Moab;

4 Nun habe ich gedacht, ich wollte dir einen Vorschlag machen, nämlich: Kaufe es in Gegenwart der hier Sitzenden und in Gegenwart der Ältesten meines Volkes! Willst du Löser sein, so sei Löser; wo nicht, so gib mir eine Erklärung ab, damit ich Bescheid weiß; denn außer dir ist kein Löser da, und ich komme erst nach dir.« Da erklärte jener: »Ja, ich will Löser sein.«

and I said, I uncover thine ear, saying, Buy before the inhabitants, and before the elders of my people; if thou dost redeem — redeem, and if none doth redeem — declare to me, and I know, for there is none save thee to redeem, and I after thee.' And he saith, I redeem [it].'

5 Da fuhr Boas fort: »Sobald du das Stück Land von Noomi erwirbst, hast du auch die Moabitin Ruth, die Witwe des Verstorbenen, erkauft, um das Geschlecht des Verstorbenen auf seinem Erbbesitz fortzupflanzen.«

And Boaz saith, 'In the day of thy buying the field from the hand of Naomi, then from Ruth the Moabitess, wife of the dead, thou hast bought [it], to raise up the name of the dead over his inheritance.'

6 Da antwortete der Löser: »In diesem Falle kann ich es nicht für mich einlösen; ich würde sonst mein eigenes Besitztum schädigen; löse du für dich, was ich lösen sollte, denn ich kann nicht Löser sein!«

And the redeemer saith, 'I am not able to redeem [it] for myself, lest I destroy mine inheritance; redeem for thyself — thou — my right of redemption, for I am not able to redeem.'

7 Nun bestand ehemals in Israel beim Lösen wie beim Tauschen der Brauch, daß, wenn man irgendeinen Handel fest abmachen wollte, der eine seinen Schuh auszog und ihn dem andern gab; dies galt als Beglaubigung in Israel.

And this [is] formerly in Israel for redemption and for changing, to establish anything: a man hath drawn off his sandal, and given [it] to his neighbour, and this [is] the testimony in Israel.

8 Als daher der Löser zu Boas gesagt hatte: »Kaufe du es für dich!«, zog er seinen Schuh aus.

And the redeemer saith to Boaz, 'Buy [it] for thyself,' and draweth off his sandal.

9 Darauf sagte Boas zu den Ältesten und zu allen anwesenden Leuten: »Ihr seid heute Zeugen, daß ich alles, was dem Elimelech, und alles, was dem Kiljon und Machlon gehört hat, von Noomi gekauft habe;

And Boaz saith to the elders, and [to] all the people, 'Witnesses [are] ye to-day that I have bought all that [is] to Elimelech, and all that [is] to Chilion and Mahlon, from the hand of Naomi;

10 aber auch die Moabitin Ruth, die Witwe Machlons, habe ich mir zum Weibe erkauft, um den Namen des Verstorbenen auf seinem Erbbesitz fortzupflanzen, damit nicht der Name des Verstorbenen aus dem Kreise seiner Verwandten und aus dem Tor seines Heimatorts verschwindet: dafür seid ihr heute Zeugen!«

and also Ruth the Moabitess, wife of Mahlon, I have bought to myself for a wife, to raise up the name of the dead over his inheritance; and the name of the dead is not cut off from among his brethren, and from the gate of his place; witnesses ye [are] to-day.'

11 Da erklärten alle im Stadttor Anwesenden und auch die Ältesten: »Ja, wir sind Zeugen! Der HERR gebe, daß die Frau, die in dein Haus einziehen soll, (so fruchtbar) werde wie Rahel und Lea, die beide das Haus Israel aufgebaut haben! Werde glücklich in Ephratha und schaffe dir einen Namen in Bethlehem!

And all the people who [are] in the gate say — also the elders — 'Witnesses! Jehovah make the woman who is coming in unto thy house as Rachel and as Leah, both of whom built the house of Israel; and do thou virtuously in Ephrathah, and proclaim the Name in Beth-Lehem;

12 Und dein Haus werde wie das Haus des Perez, den Thamar dem Juda geboren hat, durch die Nachkommenschaft, die der HERR dir von dieser jungen Frau bescheren wird!«

and let thy house be as the house of Pharez (whom Tamar bare to Judah), of the seed which Jehovah doth give to thee of this young woman.'

13 So heiratete denn Boas die Ruth, und sie wurde sein Weib; und als er zu ihr eingegangen war, verlieh ihr der HERR Mutterglück durch die Geburt eines Sohnes.

And Boaz taketh Ruth, and she becometh his wife, and he goeth in unto her, and Jehovah giveth to her conception, and she beareth a son.

14 Da sagten die Frauen zu Noomi: »Gepriesen sei der HERR, der es dir heute an einem Löser nicht hat fehlen lassen! Möge sein Name in Israel gefeiert werden,

And the women say unto Naomi, 'Blessed [is] Jehovah who hath not let a redeemer cease to thee to-day, and his name is proclaimed in Israel,

15 und möge er ein Trost für dein Herz sein und dein Versorger im Alter! Denn deine Schwiegertochter, die dich liebhat, ist seine Mutter, sie, die dir mehr wert ist als sieben Söhne.«

and he hath been to thee for a restorer of life, and for a nourisher of thine old age, for thy daughter-in-law who hath loved thee — who is better to thee than seven sons — hath borne him.'

16 Da nahm Noomi das Kind, legte es auf ihren Schoß und wurde seine Wärterin.

And Naomi taketh the lad, and layeth him in her bosom, and is to him for a nurse;

17 Die Nachbarinnen aber legten ihm einen Namen bei, indem sie sagten: »Ein Sohn ist der Noomi geboren!«, und sie nannten ihn Obed. Der ist der Vater Isais, des Vaters Davids.

and the neighbouring women give to him a name, saying, 'There hath been a son born to Naomi,' and they call his name Obed; he [is] father of Jesse, father of David.

18 Dies ist der Stammbaum des Perez: Perez war der Vater Hezrons,

And these are genealogies of Pharez: Pharez begat Hezron,

19 Hezron der Vater Rams, Ram der Vater Amminadabs,

and Hezron begat Ram, and Ram begat Amminidab,

20 Amminadab der Vater Nahassons, Nahasson der Vater Salmons,

and Amminidab begat Nahshon, and Nahshon begat Salmon,

21 Salmon der Vater des Boas, Boas der Vater Obeds,

and Salmon begat Boaz, and Boaz begat Obed,

22 Obed der Vater Isais und Isai der Vater Davids.

and Obed begat Jesse, and Jesse begat David.
