Rut 1
1 Zu der Zeit, als die Richter (in Israel) walteten, kam einmal eine Hungersnot über das Land. Da wanderte ein Mann aus Bethlehem in Juda mit seiner Frau und seinen beiden Söhnen aus, um eine Zeitlang im Gebiet der Moabiter als Fremdling zu leben.
In the time that the Iudges ruled, there was a dearth in the lande, and a man of Beth-lehem Iudah went for to soiourne in the countrey of Moab, he, and his wife, and his two sonnes.
2 Der Mann hieß Elimelech, seine Frau Noomi; und seine beiden Söhne hießen Machlon und Kiljon; sie waren Ephrathiter aus Bethlehem in Juda. Sie kamen auch glücklich im Gebiet der Moabiter an und blieben dort.
And the name of the man was Elimelech, and the name of his wife, Naomi: and the names of his two sonnes, Mahlon, and Chilion, Ephrathites of Beth-lehem Iudah: and when they came into the land of Moab, they continued there.
3 Da starb Elimelech, der Mann Noomis, so daß sie mit ihren beiden Söhnen allein zurückblieb.
Then Elimelech the husband of Naomi died, and she remayned with her two sonnes,
4 Diese nahmen sich dann moabitische Frauen, von denen die eine Orpa, die andere Ruth hieß. So wohnten sie dort etwa zehn Jahre.
Which tooke them wiues of the Moabites: the ones name was Orpah, and the name of ye other Ruth: and they dwelled there about ten yeeres.
5 Als dann auch die beiden Söhne, Machlon und Kiljon, starben und die Frau, ihrer beiden Söhne und ihres Mannes beraubt, allein stand,
And Mahlon and Chilion dyed also both twaine: so the woman was left destitute of her two sonnes, and of her husband.
6 machte sie sich mit ihren beiden Schwiegertöchtern auf, um aus dem Gebiet der Moabiter in ihre Heimat zurückzukehren; denn sie hatte im Lande der Moabiter in Erfahrung gebracht, daß der HERR sich seines Volkes gnädig angenommen und ihm wieder Brot gegeben habe.
Then she arose with her daughters in law, and returned from the countrey of Moab: for she had heard say in the countrey of Moab, that the Lord had visited his people, and giuen them bread.
7 Sie verließ also in Begleitung ihrer beiden Schwiegertöchter den Ort, wo sie bis dahin gewohnt hatte. Als sie aber ihres Weges zogen, um ins Land Juda zurückzukehren,
Wherefore shee departed out of the place where she was, and her two daughters in law with her, and they went on their way to returne vnto the land of Iudah.
8 sagte Noomi zu ihren beiden Schwiegertöchtern: »Kehrt jetzt wieder heim, eine jede ins Haus ihrer Mutter. Der HERR segne euch für die Liebe, die ihr den Verstorbenen und mir erwiesen habt!
Then Naomi saide vnto her two daughters in lawe, Goe, returne eche of you vnto her owne mothers house: the Lord shew fauour vnto you, as ye haue done with the dead, and with me.
9 Der HERR vergönne euch beiden, ein ruhiges Heim im Hause eines Gatten zu finden!« Als Noomi sie hierauf geküßt hatte, begannen jene laut zu weinen
The Lord graunt you, that you may finde rest, either of you in the house of her husband. And when she kissed them, they lift vp their voice and wept.
10 und sagten zu ihr: »Nein, wir wollen dich zu deinem Volke begleiten!«
And they saide vnto her, Surely we will returne with thee vnto thy people.
11 Aber Noomi entgegnete: »Kehrt um, liebe Töchter! Warum wollt ihr mit mir gehen? Darf ich etwa noch hoffen, Söhnen das Leben zu geben, daß sie eure Männer werden könnten?
But Naomi saide, Turne againe, my daughters: for what cause will you go with me? are there any more sonnes in my wombe, that they may bee your husbands?
12 Nein, kehrt um, liebe Töchter! Geht heim! Ich bin ja zu alt, um mich nochmals zu verheiraten. Und wenn ich auch dächte, noch Aussicht auf eine neue Ehe zu haben, ja wenn ich noch in dieser Nacht das Weib eines Mannes und sogar Mutter von Söhnen würde:
Turne againe, my daughters: go your way: for I am too olde to haue an husband. If I should say, I haue hope, and if I had an husband this night: yea, if I had borne sonnes,
13 wolltet ihr deshalb warten, bis sie erwachsen wären? Wolltet ihr euch deshalb bis dahin einschließen und unverheiratet bleiben? Nein, liebe Töchter! Ich bin ja euretwegen tief betrübt, daß die Hand des HERRN mich so schwer getroffen hat!«
Would yee tarie for them, till they were of age? would ye be deferred for them from taking of husbands? nay my daughters: for it grieueth me much for your sakes that the hand of the Lord is gone out against me.
14 Da begannen sie von neuem laut zu weinen; dann küßte aber Orpa ihre Schwiegermutter und ging weg, Ruth aber schloß sie fest in ihre Arme.
Then they lift vp their voyce and wept againe, and Orpah kissed her mother in lawe, but Ruth abode still with her.
15 Da sagte Noomi zu ihr: »Nachdem nun deine Schwägerin zu ihrem Volk und zu ihrem Gott zurückgekehrt ist, so kehre auch du um und folge deiner Schwägerin!«
And Naomi said, Beholde, thy sister in law is gone backe vnto her people and vnto her gods: returne thou after thy sister in lawe.
16 Aber Ruth erwiderte: »Dringe nicht in mich, dich zu verlassen und ohne dich umzukehren; Nein, wohin du gehst, dahin will auch ich gehen, und wo du bleibst, da bleibe ich auch: dein Volk ist mein Volk, und dein Gott ist mein Gott!
And Ruth answered, Intreate mee not to leaue thee, nor to depart from thee: for whither thou goest, I will goe: and where thou dwellest, I will dwell: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God.
17 Wo du stirbst, da sterbe ich auch, und da will ich begraben sein. Der HERR mache mit mir, was er will: nur der Tod soll mich von dir scheiden!«
Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried. the Lord do so to me and more also, if ought but death depart thee and me.
18 Als Noomi nun sah, daß Ruth fest entschlossen war, mit ihr zu gehen, redete sie nicht weiter auf sie ein.
Whe she saw that she was stedfastly minded to go with her, she left speaking vnto her.
19 So gingen denn die beiden weiter, bis sie nach Bethlehem gelangten. Als sie aber dort ankamen, geriet der ganze Ort ihretwegen in Aufregung, und alle Frauen sagten: »Ist das nicht Noomi?«
So they went both vntill they came to Beth-lehem: and when they were come to Beth-lehem, it was noysed of them through all the citie, and they said, Is not this Naomi?
20 Da antwortete sie ihnen: »Nennt mich nicht Noomi, nennt mich lieber Mara; denn der Allmächtige hat mich viel Bitteres erleben lassen.
And she answered them, Call me not Naomi, but call me Mara: for the Almightie hath giuen me much bitternes.
21 Voll bin ich weggegangen, und leer hat mich der HERR zurückkehren lassen. Warum nennt ihr mich Noomi? Hat sich doch der HERR selbst gegen mich erklärt und der Allmächtige mich in Leid gestürzt!«
I went out full, and the Lord hath caused me to returne emptie: why call ye me Naomi, seeing the Lord hath humbled me, and the Almightie hath brought me vnto aduersitie?
22 So kehrte Noomi und mit ihr Ruth, ihre Schwiegertochter, die Moabitin, aus dem Lande der Moabiter heim, und zwar kamen sie in Bethlehem an beim Beginn der Gerstenernte.
So Naomi returned and Ruth the Moabitesse her daughter in law with her, when she came out of the countrey of Moab: and they came to Beth-lehem in the beginning of barly haruest.
