Psalm 99

1 Der HERR ist König: es zittern die Völker; er thront über den Cheruben: es wankt die Erde.

Jehovah reigneth: let the peoples tremble. He sitteth [between the] cherubim: let the earth be moved.

2 Groß ist der HERR in Zion und hocherhaben über alle Völker.

Jehovah is great in Zion, and he is high above all the peoples.

3 Preisen sollen sie deinen Namen, den großen und hehren – heilig ist er –,

They shall praise thy great and terrible name, — it is holy! —

4 und preisen die Stärke des Königs, der da liebt das Recht. Du hast gerechte Ordnung fest gegründet, Recht und Gerechtigkeit hast du in Jakob hergestellt.

And the strength of the king that loveth justice. Thou hast established equity: it is thou that executest judgment and righteousness in Jacob.

5 Erhebet den HERRN, unsern Gott, und werft euch nieder vor dem Schemel seiner Füße: heilig ist er!

Exalt Jehovah our God, and worship at his footstool. He is holy!

6 Mose und Aaron waren unter seinen Priestern und Samuel unter denen, die seinen Namen anriefen: sie riefen zum HERRN, und er erhörte sie.

Moses and Aaron among his priests, and Samuel among them that call upon his name: they called unto Jehovah, and he answered them.

7 In der Wolkensäule redete er zu ihnen; sie wahrten seine Gebote, das Gesetz, das er ihnen gegeben.

He spoke unto them in the pillar of cloud: they kept his testimonies, and the statute that he gave them.

8 O HERR, unser Gott, du hast sie erhört, ein verzeihender Gott bist du ihnen gewesen, doch auch ein strafender ob ihrer Vergehen.

Jehovah, our God, thou answeredst them: a forgiving God wast thou unto them, though thou tookest vengeance of their doings.

9 Erhebet den HERRN, unsern Gott, und werft euch nieder auf seinem heiligen Berge, denn heilig ist der HERR, unser Gott!

Exalt Jehovah our God, and worship at the hill of his holiness; for holy is Jehovah our God.
