Psalm 72
1 Von Salomo. Gott, dein richterlich Walten verleihe dem König
God, give your mishpat ·justice· to the King Messiah [Anointed one]; and your righteousness to the Son of David [Beloved] the King.
2 daß er dein Volk mit Gerechtigkeit richte und deine Elenden nach dem Recht!
He will judge your people with righteousness, and your poor afflicted ones with right judgments.
3 Laß die Berge dem Volke Frieden tragen und die Hügel sich kleiden in Gerechtigkeit!
The mountains shall bring peace and prosperity to the people. The hills bring the fruit of righteousness.
4 Er schaffe Recht den Elenden im Volk, er helfe den armen Leuten und zertrete den Bedrücker.
He will judge the poor of the people. He will save the children of the needy, and will break the oppressor in pieces.
5 Möge er leben, solange die Sonne scheint und der Mond (uns leuchtet), von Geschlecht zu Geschlecht!
They shall fear you, the King Messiah [Anointed one], while the sun endures; and as long as the moon, throughout all generations.
6 Er möge sein wie Regen für frischgemähte Wiesen, wie Regenschauer, die das Land besprengen!
He will come down like rain on the cut grass of the earth, as showers that water the earth.
7 In seinen Tagen möge der Gerechte blühen und Friede in Fülle bestehn, bis kein Mond mehr scheint.
In his days, the upright shall be multiplied, and abundance of peace, until the moon is no more.
8 Er herrsche von Meer zu Meer und vom Euphratstrom bis hin an die Enden der Erde!
He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, from the River to the ends of the earth.
9 Vor ihm müssen die Steppenvölker die Knie beugen und seine Feinde den Staub lecken;
Those who dwell in the wilderness shall bow before him. His enemies shall lick the dust.
10 die Könige von Tharsis und den Meeresländern müssen Geschenke ihm bringen, die Herrscher von Saba und Seba Abgaben entrichten;
The kings of Tarshish and of the islands will bring tribute. The kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts.
11 ja huldigen müssen ihm alle Könige, die Völker alle ihm dienen!
Yes, all kings shall hawa ·bow low, prostrate· before him. All nations shall serve him.
12 Denn er wird den Armen retten, der um Hilfe schreit, den Leidenden und den, der keinen Helfer hat.
For he will deliver the needy when he cries; the poor, who has no helper.
13 Er wird sich erbarmen des Schwachen und Armen und Hilfe gewähren den Seelen der Armen;
He will have pity on the poor and needy. He will save the souls of the needy.
14 aus Bedrückung und Gewalttat wird er ihre Seelen erlösen, und ihr Blut wird kostbar sein in seinen Augen.
He will redeem their soul from oppression and violence. Their blood will be precious in his sight.
15 So lebe er denn, und man gebe ihm vom Golde aus Saba, man bete immerdar für ihn und segne ihn allezeit!
They shall live, and to him shall be given of the gold of Sheba. Men shall pray for him continually. They shall bless him all day long.
16 Fülle von Korn möge sein im Lande bis auf die Gipfel der Berge, es rausche seine Frucht wie der Libanon! Und aus den Städten blühe das Volk hervor so zahlreich wie das Gras der Erde!
There shall be an abundance of corn throughout the land. Its fruit sways like Lebanon. Let it flourish, thriving like the grass of the field outside the city.
17 Sein Name möge ewig bestehn: solange die Sonne scheint, lebe sein Name fort, so daß man in ihm sich Segen wünscht und alle Völker ihn glücklich preisen!
His name endures forever. His name existed before the creation of the sun. Men shall be blessed by him. All nations will call him blessed.
18 Gepriesen sei Gott der HERR, der Gott Israels, der Wunder vollbringt, er allein!
Praise be to Adonai God, the God of Israel [God prevails], who alone does marvelous deeds.
19 Und gepriesen sei sein herrlicher Name in Ewigkeit, und die ganze Erde sei seiner Herrlichkeit voll! Amen, ja Amen! –
Blessed be his kavod ·weighty glorious· name forever! Let the whole earth be filled with his kavod ·weighty glory·! Amen v'Amen ·So be it and So be it·.
20 Zu Ende sind die Gebete Davids, des Sohnes Isais.
