Psalm 71
1 Bei dir, HERR, suche ich Zuflucht: laß mich nimmermehr enttäuscht werden!
In you, Yahweh, I take refuge; let me never be put to shame.
2 Nach deiner Gerechtigkeit rette und befreie mich, neige dein Ohr mir zu und hilf mir!
Rescue me and make me safe in your righteousness; turn your ear to me and save me.
3 Sei mir ein schützender Fels, zu dem ich allzeit fliehen kann; du hast ja geboten, mich zu retten, denn mein Fels und meine Burg bist du.
Be to me a rock for refuge where I may always go; you have given a command to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress.
4 Mein Gott, errette mich aus des Gottlosen Hand, aus der Faust des Frevlers und Gewaltmenschen!
Rescue me, my God, out of the hand of the wicked, out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel.
5 Denn du bist meine Hoffnung, HERR, mein Gott, du meine Zuversicht von Jugend an.
For you are my hope, Lord Yahweh. I have trusted in you ever since I was a child.
6 Auf dich hab’ ich mich gestützt seit meiner Geburt; aus dem Mutterschoß hast du mich ans Licht gezogen: dir hat mein Lobpreis immer gegolten.
By you I have been supported from the womb; you are he who took me out of my mother's belly; my praise will be always about you.
7 Wie ein Wunder komme ich vielen vor, doch du bist meine starke Zuflucht.
I am an example to many people; you are my strong refuge.
8 Mein Mund ist deines Ruhmes voll, allzeit voll von deiner Verherrlichung.
My mouth will be filled with your praise, all the day with your honor.
9 Verwirf mich nicht in den Tagen des Alters, beim Schwinden meiner Kraft verlaß mich nicht!
Do not throw me away in my time of old age; do not abandon me when my strength fails.
10 Denn schon verhandeln meine Feinde über mich, und die den Tod mir wünschen, beraten sich zusammen
For my enemies are talking about me; those who watch for my life are plotting together.
11 und sagen: »Gott hat ihn verlassen: verfolgt und ergreift ihn, denn er hat keinen Retter!«
They say, “God has forsaken him; pursue and take him, for there is no one to save him.”
12 O Gott, bleib du nicht fern von mir, mein Gott, eil’ mir zu Hilfe!
God, do not be far from me; my God, hurry to help me.
13 Es müssen enttäuscht und vernichtet werden, die mich befeinden! Laß alle in Schmach und Schande sich hüllen, die mein Unglück suchen!
Let them be put to shame and destroyed, those who are hostile to my life; let them be covered with rebuke and dishonor, those who seek my hurt.
14 Ich aber will immerdar harren und all deinen Ruhm noch mehren.
But I will always hope in you and will praise you more and more.
15 Mein Mund soll deine Gerechtigkeit künden, allzeit deine Heilserweise, denn ich vermag sie nicht zu zählen.
My mouth will tell about your righteousness and your salvation all the day, although I cannot understand it.
16 Kommen will ich mit den Machttaten Gottes des HERRN, will preisen deine Gerechtigkeit, dich allein.
I will come with the mighty acts of the Lord Yahweh; I will make mention of your righteousness, yours alone.
17 Du hast mich, o Gott, von Jugend auf gelehrt, und bis hierher habe ich deine Wunder verkündet;
God, you have taught me from my youth; even now I declare your wonderful deeds.
18 doch auch bis zum Greisenalter und grauen Haar verlaß mich nicht, o Gott, auf daß ich deinen Arm verkünde den Zeitgenossen und allen, die noch kommen werden, deine Macht.
Indeed, even when I am old and gray-headed, God, do not forsake me, as I have been declaring your strength to the next generation, your power to everyone who is to come.
19 Gott, deine Gerechtigkeit reicht bis hoch an den Himmel; der du große Dinge getan, o Gott, wer ist dir gleich?
Your righteousness also, God, is very high; you who have done great things, God, who is like you?
20 Du hast viel Not und Leid uns fühlen lassen: du wirst uns auch wieder beleben und aus den Tiefen der Erde empor uns führen.
You who made me see many troubles will revive us again and will bring us up again from the depths of the earth.
21 Du wirst mich um so höher erheben und mit Trost dich wieder zu mir wenden.
May you increase my honor; turn again and comfort me.
22 So will denn auch ich dich preisen mit Saitenspiel, für deine Treue dir danken, mein Gott; ich will auf der Zither dir spielen, du Heiliger Israels.
I will also give thanks to you with the harp for your trustworthiness, my God; to you I will sing praises with the harp, Holy One of Israel.
23 Jubeln sollen meine Lippen, wenn ich dir spiele, und zugleich meine Seele, die du erlöst hast;
My lips will shout for joy when I sing praises to you— even my soul, which you have redeemed.
24 auch meine Zunge soll allezeit von deiner Gerechtigkeit reden, denn enttäuscht, denn schamrot sind geworden, die mein Unglück suchten.
My tongue will also talk about your righteousness all day long; for they have been put to shame and are confused, those who sought my hurt.
