Psalm 68
1 Dem Musikmeister, von David ein Psalm, ein Lied. Gott steht auf: da zerstieben seine Feinde,
To the Chief Musician. David’s. A Melody, a Song. Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered, Yea let them that hate him flee before him:
2 Wie Rauch verweht, so verwehst du sie; wie Wachs zerschmilzt vor dem Feuer, so kommen die Gottlosen um vor Gottes Angesicht;
As smoke is driven about, Let them be driven about, —As wax is melted before a fire, Let the lawless perish before God.
3 die Gerechten aber freuen sich, jubeln vor Gottes Angesicht und frohlocken voller Freude.
But let, the righteous, be glad, let them exult before God, Yea let them rejoice with gladness.
4 Singet Gott, lobsingt seinem Namen, machet Bahn ihm, der durch Wüsten einherfährt ›HERR‹ ist sein Name –, und jauchzet vor seinem Angesicht!
Sing ye to God, Make music of his Name, —Lift up (a song), to him that rideth through the waste plains, —Since Yah is his name, exult ye before him.
5 Ein Vater der Waisen, ein Richter der Witwen ist Gott in seiner heiligen Wohnstatt.
The father of the fatherless, And the advocate of widows, Is God, in his holy habitation.
6 Gott verhilft den Vereinsamten zum Hausstand, führt Gefangne heraus zum Wohlergehn; doch Widerstrebende müssen wohnen in dürrem Land.
God, is he that causeth the solitary to dwell in a home, That bringeth out prisoners into prosperity, But, the rebellious, have made their habitation in a sunburnt land.
7 Als du auszogst, Gott, an der Spitze deines Volkes, einherschrittest durch die Wüste: (SELA)
O God! When thou camest forth before thy people, When thou didst stride through the wilderness, (Selah)
8 da bebte die Erde, da troffen die Himmel vor Gottes Angesicht, der Sinai dort vor dem Angesicht Gottes, des Gottes Israels.
Earth, trembled, Yea, the heavens, dripped at the presence of God, —This Sinai—at the presence of God, the God of Israel.
9 Regen in Fülle ließest du strömen, o Gott; dein Eigentumsvolk, sooft ermattet es war: du machtest es wieder stark.
A bounteous rain, dost thou shed abroad, O God, upon thine inheritance, When exhausted, thou thyself, hast supported it:
10 Deine Herde fand Wohnung darin, durch deine Güte stelltest du, Gott, die Schwachen wieder her.
Thy living host, have remained therein, Thou dost provide, in thy bounty, for the humbled ones—O God!
11 Der Allherr ließ Siegesruf erschallen der Siegesbotinnen war eine große Schar –:
Let, My Lord, but give the word, The herald bands, will be a mighty host:
12 »Die Könige der Heere fliehen, sie fliehn, und die Hausfrau teilt die Beute aus.«
Kings of armies, they flee! they flee! And, she that stayeth at home, shall share the spoil.
13 »Wollt ihr zwischen den Hürden liegen bleiben?« – »Die Flügel der Tauben, mit Silber überzogen, und ihr Gefieder gelblich schimmernd von Gold.« –
Though ye rest between the folds, The wings of the dove, shall be covered with silver, And, her pinions, with green-shimmering gold.
14 »Als Könige dort der Allmächtge zerstreute, da fand ein Schneegestöber statt auf dem Zalmon.«
When the Almighty scattereth kings therein, It will gleam like snow in the gloom:
15 Du Gottesberg, Basansberg, du gipfelreicher Berg, Basansberg:
A mighty mountain, is the mountain of Bashan, A mountain of peaks, is the mountain of Bashan!—
16 warum blickt ihr neidisch, ihr gipfelreichen Berge, auf den Berg, den Gott zum Wohnsitz erkoren? Ja, ewig wird der HERR dort wohnen.
Wherefore start ye up, ye mountains, ye peaks? The mountain God hath coveted for his habitation, Surely, Yahweh will inhabit it ever!
17 Der Kriegswagen Gottes sind vieltausendmal tausend; der Allherr ist unter ihnen, ein Sinai an Heiligkeit.
The chariots of God, are two myriads—thousands repeated, My Lord, is among them Sinai, is in the sanctuary!
18 Du bist zur Höhe aufgefahren, hast Gefangene weggeführt, hast Gaben unter den Menschen angenommen; ja auch die Widerstrebenden müssen wohnen bei Gott dem HERRN.
Thou hast ascended on high, Thou hast led in procession a body of captives, Thou hast received gifts consisting of men, Yea even the rebellious, That, Yah, Elohim, might settle down to rest.
19 Gepriesen sei der Allherr! Tag für Tag! Uns trägt der Gott, der unsre Hilfe ist. (SELA)
Blessed be My Lord! Day by day, he beareth our burden for us, GOD himself, is our salvation. (Selah)
20 Dieser Gott ist uns ein rettender Gott, und Gott der HERR weiß Rat auch gegen den Tod.
The GOD we have, is a GOD of saving deeds, And, due to Yahweh, My Lord, are escapes from death.
21 Ja, Gott zerschmettert das Haupt seiner Feinde, den Haarscheitel dessen, der in seinen Sünden einhergeht.
Yea, God himself, will smite through the head of his foes, —The hairy crown of him that is marching on in his guilty deeds.
22 Der Allherr hat verheißen: »Aus Basan bring’ ich (sie) heim, ja bringe (sie) heim aus den Tiefen des Meeres,
Said My Lord, From Bashan, will I bring back, —I will bring back from the depths of the sea:
23 auf daß du in Blut deine Füße badest und die Zunge deiner Hunde an den Feinden sich letze.« –
That thou mayest bathe thy foot in blood, —The tongue of thy dogs, from the foes, hath its portion.
24 Man hat, o Gott, deinen Festzug gesehn, den Festzug meines Gottes, meines Königs, im Heiligtum:
They have seen thy progress O God, The progress of my GOD, my king into the sanctuary:
25 An der Spitze zogen Sänger, dahinter Saitenspieler inmitten paukenschlagender Jungfrauen:
In front are the singers, Behind are the harpers, In the midst of damsels playing on timbrels:
26 »In Versammlungen preiset Gott, den Allherrn, ihr aus Israels Born!«
In the congregations, bless ye God, My Lord, from among the called of Israel:
27 Dort schritt Benjamin hin, der Jüngste, der sie doch beherrscht hat, die Fürsten Judas nach ihrer großen Menge, Sebulons Fürsten, die Fürsten von Naphthali.
There, is Benjamin, the Diminutive—ruling them, The princes of Judah—their throng, The princes of Zebulun, The princes of Naphtali.
28 Entbiete, o Gott, deine Macht, erhalte in Kraft, o Gott, was du uns erwirkt hast!
Thy God hath commanded thy strength, —The strength, O God, which thou hast wrought for us.
29 Um deines Tempels willen müssen Könige dir Geschenke hinauf nach Jerusalem bringen.
Because of thy temple above Jerusalem, Unto thee, shall kings bear along a gift—
30 Bedrohe das Tier des Schilfrohrs, die Rotte der Stiere samt den Völkerkälbern, die mit Silberbarren sich unterwerfen; zerstreue die Völker, die Freude an Kriegen haben!
Rebuke thou, The wild beast of the reeds, The herd of mighty oxen among the calves of the peoples—Each one bowing down with bars of silver, —Scatter thou the peoples, who in wars take delight.
31 Kommen werden die Edlen aus Ägypten, Äthiopien eilt mit vollen Händen Gott entgegen.
Ambassadors come out of Egypt, The Ethiopian, eagerly stretcheth out his hands, unto God.
32 Ihr Königreiche der Erde, singet Gott, lobsinget dem Allherrn, (SELA)
Ye kingdoms of the earth, sing unto God, Praise in song Adonay. (Selah)
33 ihm, der einherfährt im höchsten Himmel der Urzeit! Horch! Er läßt seine Stimme erschallen, den rollenden Donner!
Unto him that rideth upon the most ancient heavens, Lo! he uttereth his voice, a voice of strength.
34 Gebt Gott die Macht! Über Israel waltet seine Hoheit und seine Macht in den Wolken.
Ascribe ye strength unto God, —Over Israel, is his majesty, And his strength, in the skies. To be revered is God, for his sanctuary, —
35 Furchtbar bist du, Gott, von deinem Heiligtum aus! Israels Gott, er ist’s, der Macht verleiht und Stärke seinem Volk: gepriesen sei Gott!
As for the GOD of Israel, he, is giving strength and abundant might to the people. Blessed be God!
