Psalm 62

1 Dem Musikmeister über die Jeduthuniden; ein Psalm Davids. Nur (im Aufblick) zu Gott ist meine Seele still:

“To the chief musician, upon Jeduthun, a psalm of David.” Only in God my soul trusted in silence: from him cometh my salvation.

2 nur er ist mein Fels und meine Hilfe, meine Burg: ich werde nicht allzusehr wanken.

Only he is my rock and my salvation; [he is] my defense: I shall not be greatly moved.

3 Wie lange noch lauft ihr Sturm gegen einen Mann, wollt ihn niederschlagen allesamt wie eine sinkende Wand, eine dem Einsturz nahe Mauer?

How long will ye devise mischief against a man? will ye all assault him murderously, as though he were a falling wall, a tottering fence?

4 Ja, von seiner Höhe planen sie ihn zu stoßen; Lügen sind ihre Lust; mit dem Munde segnen sie, doch im Herzen fluchen sie. (SELA)

Yea, from his height do they take counsel to cast [him] down; they delight in lies: with their mouth do they bless, but inwardly do they curse. (Selah)

5 Nur (im Aufblick) zu Gott sei still, meine Seele! Denn von ihm kommt meine Hoffnung;

Yea, in God hope in silence, my soul; for from him is my expectation.

6 nur er ist mein Fels und meine Hilfe, meine Burg: ich werde nicht wanken.

Only he is my rock and my salvation; [he is] my defence: I shall not be moved.

7 Auf Gott beruht mein Heil und meine Ehre; mein starker Fels, meine Zuflucht liegt in Gott.

With God are my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength [and] my protection are in God.

8 Vertraut auf ihn zu aller Zeit, ihr Volksgenossen, schüttet vor ihm euer Herz aus: Gott ist unsere Zuflucht. (SELA)

Trust in him at all times, O ye people; pour out before him your heart: God is a protection for us. (Selah)

9 Nur ein Hauch sind Menschensöhne, ein Trug sind Herrensöhne; auf der Waage schnellen sie empor, sind allesamt leichter als ein Hauch.

Verily nought are the sons of common men, a lie the sons of the great; they must rise in the balance; they are altogether [lighter] than nought.

10 Verlaßt euch nicht auf Erpressung und setzt nicht eitle Hoffnung auf Raub; wenn der Reichtum sich mehrt, so hängt das Herz nicht daran!

Do not put your trust in defrauding, and be not rendered vain through robbery: if riches flourish, set not your heart [upon them].

11 Eins ist’s, was Gott gesprochen, und zweierlei ist’s, was ich vernommen, daß die Macht bei Gott steht.

Once hath God spoken; [yea, ] twice [what] I have heard: that strength belongeth unto God.

12 Und bei dir, o Allherr, steht auch die Gnade: ja, du vergiltst einem jeden nach seinem Tun.

And unto thee, O Lord, belongeth kindness; for thou wilt recompense every man according to his works.
