Psalm 48

1 Ein Lied, ein Psalm von den Korahiten. Groß ist der HERR und hoch zu preisen

A Song; a Psalm of the sons of Korah. Great is the LORD, and highly to be praised, in the city of our God, in his holy mountain.

2 Herrlich ragt empor, die Wonne der ganzen Erde, der Zionsberg, der wahre Götterberg, die Stadt eines großen Königs.

Beautiful in elevation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, [on] the sides of the north, the city of the great King.

3 Gott hat in ihren Palästen sich kundgetan als eine feste Burg.

God hath made himself known in her palaces for a refuge.

4 Denn siehe, die Könige hatten sich versammelt, waren vereint herangezogen;

For, lo, the kings assembled themselves, they passed by together.

5 doch als sie’s sahen, waren sie betroffen, erschraken, flohen bestürzt davon;

They saw it, then were they amazed; they were dismayed, they hasted away.

6 Zittern erfaßte sie dort, Angst wie ein Weib in Wehen.

Trembling took hold of them there; pain, as of a woman in travail.

7 Durch einen Oststurm zertrümmertest du die stolzen Tharsisschiffe.

With the east wind thou breakest the ships of Tarshish.

8 Wie wir’s gehört, so haben wir’s nun gesehen in der Stadt des HERRN der Heerscharen, unsres Gottes Stadt: Gott läßt sie auf ewig feststehn. (SELA)

As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the LORD of hosts, in the city of our God: God will establish it for ever. (Selah)

9 Wir gedenken, o Gott, deiner Gnade inmitten deines Tempels.

We have thought on thy lovingkindness, O God, in the midst of thy temple.

10 Wie dein Name, o Gott, so reicht auch dein Ruhm bis an die Enden der Erde; mit Gerechtigkeit ist deine Rechte gefüllt.

As is thy name, O God, so is thy praise unto the ends of the earth: thy right hand is full of righteousness.

11 Des freue sich der Zionsberg, jubeln mögen die Töchter Judas um deiner Gerichte willen!

Let mount Zion be glad, let the daughters of Judah rejoice, because of thy judgments.

12 Umkreist den Zion, umwandelt ihn rings und zählt seine Türme;

Walk about Zion, and go round about her: tell the towers thereof.

13 betrachtet genau seine Bollwerke, mustert seine Paläste, damit ihr dem künftgen Geschlecht erzählet,

Mark ye welt her bulwarks, consider her palaces; that ye may tell it to the generation following.

14 daß dies ist Gott, unser Gott: immer und ewig wird er uns führen [bis zum Tode].

For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide [even] unto death.
