Psalm 44
1 Dem Musikmeister; von den Korahiten ein Lehrgedicht. O Gott, mit eignen Ohren haben wir’s gehört,
To him that excelleth. A Psalme to give instruction, committed to the sonnes of Korah. We haue heard with our eares, O God: our fathers haue tolde vs the workes, that thou hast done in their dayes, in the olde time:
2 Du hast Heidenvölker mit deiner Hand vertrieben und sie an deren Stelle eingepflanzt; Völker hast du vernichtet, sie aber ausgebreitet.
Howe thou hast driuen out the heathen with thine hand, and planted them: how thou hast destroyed the people, and caused them to grow.
3 Denn nicht mit ihrem Schwerte haben sie das Land gewonnen, und nicht ihr Arm hat ihnen den Sieg verschafft, nein, deine Rechte und dein Arm und deines Angesichts Licht, denn du hattest Gefallen an ihnen.
For they inherited not the lande by their owne sworde, neither did their owne arme saue them: but thy right hand, and thine arme and the light of thy countenance, because thou didest fauour them.
4 Nur du bist mein König, o Gott: entbiete Hilfe für Jakob!
Thou art my King, O God: send helpe vnto Iaakob.
5 Mit dir stoßen wir unsre Bedränger nieder, mit deinem Namen zertreten wir unsre Gegner.
Through thee haue we thrust backe our aduersaries: by thy Name haue we troden downe them that rose vp against vs.
6 Denn nicht auf meinen Bogen verlasse ich mich, und nicht mein Schwert verschafft mir den Sieg;
For I do not trust in my bowe, neither can my sworde saue me.
7 nein, du gewährst uns Hilfe gegen unsre Bedränger und machst zuschanden, die uns hassen:
But thou hast saued vs from our aduersaries, and hast put them to confusion that hate vs.
8 Gottes rühmen wir uns allezeit und preisen deinen Namen ewiglich. (SELA)
Therefore will wee praise God continually, and will confesse thy Name for euer. (Selah)
9 Und doch hast du uns verstoßen und Schmach uns angetan und ziehst nicht mehr aus mit unsern Heeren;
But now thou art farre off, and puttest vs to confusion, and goest not forth with our armies.
10 du hast vor dem Feinde uns weichen lassen, und die uns hassen, haben sich Beute geholt;
Thou makest vs to turne backe from the aduersary, and they, which hate vs, spoile for theselues.
11 du hast uns hingegeben wie Schafe zur Schlachtung und unter die Heiden uns zerstreut;
Thou giuest vs as sheepe to bee eaten, and doest scatter vs among the nations.
12 du hast dein Volk verkauft um ein Spottgeld und den Preis für sie gar niedrig angesetzt;
Thou sellest thy people without gaine, and doest not increase their price.
13 du hast uns unsern Nachbarn zum Hohn gemacht, zum Spott und Gelächter rings umher;
Thou makest vs a reproche to our neighbours, a iest and a laughing stocke to them that are round about vs.
14 hast gemacht, daß den Heiden zum Sprichwort wir dienen, daß den Kopf die Völker über uns schütteln.
Thou makest vs a prouerbe among the nations, and a nodding of the head among the people.
15 Allzeit steht meine Schmach mir vor Augen, und die (Röte der) Scham bedeckt mir das Antlitz,
My confusion is dayly before me, and the shame of my face hath couered me,
16 weil ich höre den lauten Hohn und die Lästerreden, weil den Feind und seine Rachgier ich sehn muß.
For the voyce of the slaunderer and rebuker, for the enemie and auenger.
17 Dies alles hat uns getroffen, und wir hatten dich doch nicht vergessen und dem Bunde mit dir die Treue nicht gebrochen.
All this is come vpon vs, yet doe wee not forget thee, neither deale wee falsly concerning thy couenant.
18 Unser Herz ist nicht von dir abgefallen und unser Schritt nicht abgewichen von deinem Pfade,
Our heart is not turned backe: neither our steps gone out of thy paths,
19 daß du zermalmt uns hast an der Stätte der Schakale und mit Todesnacht uns umlagert hältst.
Albeit thou hast smitten vs downe into the place of dragons, and couered vs with the shadow of death.
20 Hätten wir unsres Gottes Namen vergessen und unsre Hände erhoben zu einem fremden Gott:
If wee haue forgotten the Name of our God, and holden vp our hands to a strange god,
21 würde Gott das nicht entdecken? Er kennt ja des Herzens geheimste Gedanken.
Shall not God searche this out? for hee knoweth the secrets of the heart.
22 Nein, um deinetwillen werden wir täglich gemordet und werden dem Schlachtvieh gleich geachtet.
Surely for thy sake are we slaine continually, and are counted as sheepe for the slaughter.
23 Wach auf! Warum schläfst du, o Allherr? Erwache! Verwirf nicht für immer!
Vp, why sleepest thou, O Lord? awake, be not farre off for euer.
24 Warum verbirgst du dein Angesicht, denkst nicht an unser Elend und unsre Bedrängnis?
Wherefore hidest thou thy face? and forgettest our miserie and our affliction?
25 Ach, bis in den Staub ist unsre Seele gebeugt, unser Leib liegt da, am Erdboden klebend!
For our soule is beaten downe vnto the dust: our belly cleaueth vnto the ground.
26 Steh auf, komm uns zu Hilfe und erlöse uns um deiner Gnade willen!
Rise vp for our succour, and redeeme vs for thy mercies sake.
