Psalm 23

1 Ein Psalm von David. Der HERR ist mein Hirt: mir mangelt nichts.

A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2 Auf grünen Auen läßt er mich lagern,

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

3 Er erquickt meine Seele; er leitet mich auf rechten Pfaden um seines Namens willen.

He restoreth my soul: he guideth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

4 Müßt’ ich auch wandern in finsterm Tal: ich fürchte kein Unglück, denn du bist bei mir: dein Hirtenstab und dein Stecken, die sind mein Trost.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me: thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.

5 Du deckst mir reichlich den Tisch vor den Augen meiner Feinde; du salbst mir das Haupt mit Öl und schenkst mir den Becher voll ein.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou hast anointed my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6 Nur Gutes und Liebes werden mich begleiten mein ganzes Leben hindurch, und heimkehren werd’ ich zum Hause des HERRN für eine lange Reihe von Tagen.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
