Psalm 21

1 Dem Musikmeister; ein Psalm von David. O HERR, ob deiner Kraft freut sich der König,

To him that excelleth. A Psalme of Dauid. The King shall reioyce in thy strength, O Lord: yea how greatly shall he reioyce in thy saluation!

2 Seines Herzens Verlangen hast du ihm erfüllt und den Wunsch seiner Lippen ihm nicht versagt; (SELA)

Thou hast giuen him his hearts desire, and hast not denyed him the request of his lips. (Selah)

3 denn mit Glück und Segen bist du ihm begegnet, hast aufs Haupt ihm gesetzt eine Krone von Feingold.

For thou diddest preuent him with liberall blessings, and didest set a crowne of pure gold vpon his head.

4 Leben erbat er von dir: du hast’s ihm gewährt, der Jahre Fülle auf endlose Zeit.

He asked life of thee, and thou gauest him a long life for euer and euer.

5 Groß ist sein Ruhm durch deine Hilfe, mit Glanz und Hoheit hast du ihn geschmückt;

His glory is great in thy saluation: dignitie and honour hast thou laid vpon him.

6 für die Dauer hast du ihn zum Segen gemacht, ihn beglückt mit Freude vor deinem Angesicht.

For thou hast set him as blessings for euer: thou hast made him glad with the ioy of thy countenance.

7 Denn der König vertraut auf den HERRN und wird durch des Höchsten Gnade nicht wanken.

Because the King trusteth in the Lord, and in the mercie of the most High, he shall not slide.

8 Deine Hand wird treffen alle deine Feinde, deine Rechte alle erreichen, die dich hassen.

Thine hand shall finde out all thine enemies, and thy right hand shall finde out them that hate thee.

9 Du wirst sie wie einen Feuerofen machen, sobald du erscheinst; der HERR wird sie verschlingen in seinem Zorn, und Feuer wird sie verzehren.

Thou shalt make them like a fierie ouen in time of thine anger: the Lord shall destroy them in his wrath, and the fire shall deuoure them.

10 Ihren Nachwuchs wirst du vom Erdboden tilgen und ihr Geschlecht aus der Menschenwelt.

Their fruite shalt thou destroy from the earth, and their seede from the children of men.

11 Wenn Böses sie gegen dich planen, auf Arglist sinnen: sie werden nichts vermögen;

For they intended euill against thee, and imagined mischiefe, but they shall not preuaile.

12 denn du wirst sie zwingen, die Flucht zu ergreifen, mit deinem Bogen auf ihr Antlitz zielen.

Therefore shalt thou put them aparte, and the strings of thy bowe shalt thou make readie against their faces.

13 Erhebe dich, HERR, in deiner Kraft: wir wollen dein Heldentum besingen und preisen.

Be thou exalted, O Lord, in thy strength: so will we sing and prayse thy power.
