Psalm 16
1 Ein Lied von David. Behüte mich, Gott, denn bei dir such’ ich Zuflucht!
God, protect me because I go to you to keep me safe!
2 Ich sage zu Gott: »Mein Allherr bist du,
I said to Yahweh, “You are my Lord; all the good things that I have come from you.”
3 und von den Heiligen im Lande (sag ich): »Dies sind die Edlen, an denen mein ganzes Herz hängt.«
Your people who live in this land are wonderful; I delight to be with them.
4 Vielfaches Leid erwächst den Verehrern anderer (Götter): ich mag ihre Bluttrankopfer nicht spenden und ihre Namen nicht auf meine Lippen nehmen.
Those who choose to worship other gods will have many things that cause them to be sad. I will not join them when they make sacrifices [to their gods]; I will not even join them when they speak [MTY] the names of their gods.
5 Der HERR ist mein Erbgut und Becherteil; du bist’s, der mein Los mir sichert.
Yahweh, you are the one whom I have chosen, and you give me great blessings. You protect me and control what happens to me.
6 Die Meßschnur ist mir gefallen aufs lieblichste ja, mein Erbteil gefällt mir gar wohl.
Yahweh has given me a wonderful place in which to live; I am delighted with all the things that he has given me [MET].
7 Ich preise den HERRN, der mich freundlich beraten; auch nächtens mahnt mich mein Herz dazu.
I will praise Yahweh, the one who teaches/disciplines me; even at night [he] you put in my mind what is right for me to do.
8 Ich habe den HERRN mir beständig vor Augen gestellt: steht er mir zur Rechten, so wanke ich nicht.
I know that Yahweh is always with me. He is beside me; so nothing will (perturb me/cause me to be worried).
9 Drum freut sich mein Herz, und meine Seele frohlockt: auch mein Leib wird sicher wohnen.
Therefore I am glad and I [MTY, DOU] rejoice; I can rest securely
10 Denn du gibst meine Seele dem Totenreich nicht preis, du läßt deinen Frommen nicht schaun die Vernichtung. (Sheol h7585)
because you, Yahweh, will not allow my soul/spirit to remain in the place where the dead people are; you will not allow me, your godly one, to stay there. (Sheol h7585)
11 Du weisest mir den Weg des Lebens: vor deinem Angesicht sind Freuden in Fülle und Segensgaben in deiner Rechten ewiglich.
You will show me the road that leads to [receiving eternal] life, and you will make me joyful when I am with you. I will have pleasure forever when I am (at your right hand/seated next to you).
