Psalm 149

1 Halleluja! Singet dem HERRN ein neues Lied, seinen Lobpreis in der Versammlung der Frommen!

Hallelujah! Sing unto Jehovah a new song; [sing] his praise in the congregation of the godly.

2 Es freue sich Israel seines Schöpfers, Zions Söhne sollen jubeln ob ihrem König!

Let Israel rejoice in his Maker; let the sons of Zion be joyful in their King.

3 Sie sollen seinen Namen preisen im Reigentanz, mit Pauken und Zithern ihm spielen!

Let them praise his name in the dance; let them sing psalms unto him with the tambour and harp.

4 Denn der HERR hat Wohlgefallen an seinem Volk; er schmückt die Gebeugten mit Sieg.

For Jehovah taketh pleasure in his people; he beautifieth the meek with salvation.

5 Frohlocken sollen die Frommen mit Stolz, sollen jauchzen auf ihren Lagern,

Let the godly exult in glory; let them shout for joy upon their beds.

6 Lobeserhebungen Gottes im Mund und ein doppelschneidiges Schwert in der Hand:

Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand:

7 um Rache zu vollziehn an den Heiden, Vergeltung an den Völkern,

To execute vengeance against the nations, [and] punishment among the peoples;

8 um ihre Könige mit Ketten zu binden und ihre Edlen mit eisernen Fesseln,

To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron;

9 um das längst geschriebene Urteil an ihnen zu vollstrecken: eine Ehre ist dies für alle seine Frommen! Halleluja!

To execute upon them the judgment written. This honour have all his saints. Hallelujah!
