Psalm 138

1 Von David. Danken will ich dir (HERR) von ganzem Herzen,

A Psalme of David. I will praise thee with my whole heart: euen before the gods will I praise thee.

2 vor deinem heiligen Tempel will ich anbeten und deinen Namen preisen ob deiner Gnade und Treue; denn über deinen ganzen Namen hinaus hast dein Wort du groß gemacht.

I will worship toward thine holy Temple and praise thy Name, because of thy louing kindenesse and for thy trueth: for thou hast magnified thy Name aboue all things by thy word.

3 Als ich rief zu dir, da hast du mich erhört, hast mir Mut verliehn: in mein Herz kam Kraft.

When I called, then thou heardest me, and hast encreased strength in my soule.

4 Danken werden dir, HERR, alle Könige der Erde, wenn sie hören die Worte deines Mundes,

All the Kings of the earth shall praise thee, O Lord: for they haue heard the wordes of thy mouth.

5 und werden singen vom Walten des HERRN, denn groß ist die Herrlichkeit des HERRN.

And they shall sing of the wayes of the Lord, because the glory of the Lord is great.

6 Denn der HERR ist erhaben und sieht doch den Niedrigen, den Stolzen aber erkennt er schon von ferne.

For the Lord is high: yet he beholdeth the lowly, but the proude he knoweth afarre off.

7 Wenn ich auch mitten in Drangsal wandle, erhältst du mir dennoch das Leben; du streckst deine Hand aus gegen die Wut meiner Feinde, und deine Rechte hilft mir.

Though I walke in the middes of trouble, yet wilt thou reuiue me: thou wilt stretch foorth thine hand vpon the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall saue me.

8 Der HERR wird’s mir zum Heil vollführen; o HERR, deine Gnade walte für immer: laß die Werke deiner Hände nicht fahren!

The Lord will performe his worke toward me: O Lord, thy mercie endureth for euer: forsake not the workes of thine handes.
