Psalm 122

1 Ein Wallfahrtslied Davids. Ich freute mich, als man mir sagte:

A Song of Ascents; of David. I rejoiced when they said unto me: 'Let us go unto the house of the LORD.'

2 So stehn denn nunmehr unsre Füße in deinen Toren, Jerusalem!

Our feet are standing within thy gates, O Jerusalem;

3 Jerusalem, du wiedererbaute als eine Stadt, die fest in sich geschlossen,

Jerusalem, that art builded as a city that is compact together;

4 wohin die Stämme hinaufziehn, die Stämme des HERRN, nach der für Israel gültigen Weisung, dort den Namen des HERRN zu preisen;

Whither the tribes went up, even the tribes of the LORD, as a testimony unto Israel, to give thanks unto the name of the LORD.

5 denn dort waren einst aufgestellt die Stühle zum Gericht, die Stühle des Hauses Davids.

For there were set thrones for judgment, the thrones of the house of David.

6 Bringet Jerusalem dar den Friedensgruß: »Heil denen, die dich lieben!

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem; may they prosper that love thee.

7 Friede herrsche vor deinen Mauern, sichere Ruhe in deinen Palästen!«

Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces.

8 Um meiner Brüder und Freunde willen will ich dir Frieden wünschen;

For my brethren and companions' sakes, I will now say: 'Peace be within thee.'

9 um des Hauses des HERRN, unsres Gottes, willen will ich Segen für dich erbitten.

For the sake of the house of the LORD our God I will seek thy good.
