< Psalm 108 >

1 Ein Lied, ein Psalm Davids. Mein Herz ist getrost, o Gott:
A Song [or] Psalm of David. O God, my heart is fixed; I will sing and give praise, even with my glory.
2 Wacht auf, Harfe und Zither: ich will das Morgenrot wecken!
Awake, psaltery and harp: I [myself] will awake early.
3 Ich will dich preisen unter den Völkern, o HERR, und dir lobsingen unter den Völkerschaften!
I will praise thee, O LORD, among the people: and I will sing praises unto thee among the nations.
4 Denn groß bis über den Himmel hinaus ist deine Gnade, und bis an die Wolken geht deine Treue.
For thy mercy [is] great above the heavens: and thy truth [reacheth] unto the clouds.
5 Erhebe dich über den Himmel hinaus, o Gott, und über die ganze Erde (verbreite sich) deine Herrlichkeit!
Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: and thy glory above all the earth;
6 Daß deine Geliebten gerettet werden, hilf uns mit deiner Rechten, erhör’ uns!
That thy beloved may be delivered: save [with] thy right hand, and answer me.
7 Gott hat in seiner Heiligkeit gesprochen: »(Als Sieger) will ich frohlocken, will Sichem verteilen und das Tal von Sukkoth (als Beutestück) vermessen.
God hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth.
8 Mein ist Gilead, mein auch Manasse, und Ephraim ist meines Hauptes Schutzwehr, Juda mein Herrscherstab.
Gilead [is] mine; Manasseh [is] mine; Ephraim also [is] the strength of mine head; Judah [is] my lawgiver;
9 Moab (dagegen) ist mein Waschbecken, auf Edom werf’ ich meinen Schuh; über das Philisterland will (als Sieger) ich jauchzen.«
Moab [is] my washpot; over Edom will I cast out my shoe; over Philistia will I triumph.
10 Wer führt mich hin zur festen Stadt, wer geleitet mich bis Edom?
Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom?
11 Hast nicht du uns, o Gott, verworfen und ziehst nicht aus, o Gott, mit unsern Heeren?
[Wilt] not [thou], O God, [who] hast cast us off? and wilt not thou, O God, go forth with our hosts?
12 O schaffe uns Hilfe gegen den Feind! Denn nichtig ist Menschenhilfe.
Give us help from trouble: for vain [is] the help of man.
13 Mit Gott werden wir Taten vollführen, und er wird unsre Bedränger zertreten.
Through God we shall do valiantly: for he [it is that] shall tread down our enemies.
