Sprueche 24
1 Sei nicht neidisch auf böse Menschen und laß dich nicht gelüsten, ihr Genosse zu sein!
Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.
2 Denn ihr Herz sinnt auf Gewalttat, und ihre Lippen reden Unheil.
For their heart studieth oppression, and their lips talk of mischief.
3 Durch Weisheit wird ein Haus gebaut und durch Einsicht fest gegründet;
Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established:
4 und durch Klugheit füllen sich die Kammern mit allerlei kostbarem und herrlichem Besitz.
And by knowledge are the chambers filled with all precious and pleasant riches.
5 Ein weiser Mann ist einem starken überlegen und ein einsichtiger einem kraftvollen;
A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth might.
6 denn mit klugen Maßnahmen wirst du den Krieg glücklich führen, und der Sieg ist da, wo Ratgeber in großer Zahl vorhanden sind.
For by wise guidance thou shalt make thy war: and in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.
7 Unerschwinglich ist für den Toren die Weisheit; darum tut er am Tor den Mund nicht auf.
Wisdom is too high for a fool: he openeth not his mouth in the gate.
8 Wer darauf ausgeht, Böses zu tun, den nennt man einen Bösewicht.
He that deviseth to do evil, men shall call him a mischievous person.
9 Die Sünde ist ein Vorhaben des Unverstandes, und der Spötter ist ein Greuel für die Menschen.
The thought of the foolish is sin: and the scorner is an abomination to men.
10 Hast du dich in der Zeit (des Glücks) schlaff gezeigt, so ist deine Kraft auch in der Zeit der Not schwach.
If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.
11 Rette die, welche (unschuldig) zum Tode geschleppt werden, und die zur Hinrichtung Wankenden – o befreie sie doch!
Deliver them that are carried away unto death, and those that are ready to be slain see that thou hold back.
12 Wolltest du sagen: »Wir haben ja nichts davon gewußt«: wird nicht er, der die Herzen wägt, es durchschauen und er, der deine Seele beobachtet, es wissen? Ja, er wird jedem nach seinem Tun vergelten.
If thou sayest, Behold, we knew not this: doth not he that weigheth the hearts consider it? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his work?
13 Iß Honig, mein Sohn, denn er ist gesund, und Honigseim schmeckt deinem Gaumen süß.
My son, eat thou honey, for it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste:
14 Ebenso heilsam erachte die Weisheit für deine Seele! Hast du sie erlangt, so ist eine Zukunft (für dich) vorhanden, und deine Hoffnung wird nicht zuschanden werden.
So shalt thou know wisdom to be unto thy soul: if thou hast found it, then shall there be a reward, and thy hope shall not be cut off.
15 Belaure nicht, du Gottloser, die Wohnung des Gerechten und verstöre seine Lagerstätte nicht!
Lay not wait, O wicked man, against the habitation of the righteous; spoil not his resting place:
16 Denn siebenmal fällt der Gerechte und steht wieder auf, die Gottlosen aber stürzen nieder im Unglück.
For a righteous man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked are overthrown by calamity.
17 Wenn dein Feind zu Fall kommt, so freue dich nicht, und wenn er strauchelt, so frohlocke dein Herz nicht,
Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he is overthrown:
18 damit der HERR es nicht sieht und Mißfallen empfindet und seinen Zorn von ihm weg (gegen dich) wendet.
Lest the LORD see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.
19 Erhitze dich nicht über die Übeltäter, ereifere dich nicht über die Gottlosen!
Fret not thyself because of evil-doers; neither be thou envious at the wicked:
20 Denn für den Bösen gibt es keine Zukunft, und die Leuchte der Gottlosen erlischt.
For there will be no reward to the evil man; the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.
21 Mein Sohn, fürchte den HERRN und den König und laß dich nicht mit Mißvergnügten ein!
My son, fear thou the LORD and the king: [and] meddle not with them that are given to change:
22 Denn plötzlich bricht das Verderben über sie herein, und der Untergang der Mißvergnügten kommt unvermutet.
For their calamity shall rise suddenly; and who knoweth the destruction of them both?
23 Auch die folgenden Sprüche stammen von Weisen: In einer Rechtssache die Person ansehen, ist ein übel Ding.
These also are [sayings] of the wise. To have respect of persons in judgment is not good.
24 Wer zu dem Schuldigen sagt: »Du bist im Recht«, den verwünschen die Völker, verfluchen die Völkerschaften;
He that saith unto the wicked, Thou art righteous; peoples shall curse him, nations shall abhor him:
25 aber denen, die gerecht entscheiden, ergeht es gut, und reicher Segen wird ihnen zuteil.
But to them that rebuke [him] shall be delight, and a good blessing shall come upon them.
26 Wie ein Kuß auf die Lippen ist eine treffende Antwort.
He kisseth the lips that giveth a right answer.
27 Besorge (zunächst) deine Obliegenheiten draußen und verrichte deine Arbeit auf dem Felde; darnach magst du dir einen (eigenen) Hausstand gründen.
Prepare thy work without, and make it ready for thee in the field; and afterwards build thine house.
28 Tritt nicht als falscher Zeuge gegen einen andern auf und richte keine Täuschung mit deinen Lippen an.
Be not a witness against thy neighbour without cause; and deceive not with thy lips.
29 Sage nicht: »Wie er mir getan hat, so will ich ihm wieder tun: ich will dem Manne nach seinem Tun vergelten.«
Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me; I will render to the man according to his work.
30 Am Acker eines faulen Mannes kam ich vorüber und am Weinberg eines unverständigen Menschen;
I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;
31 und siehe da: er war ganz mit Disteln überwachsen, seine Oberfläche mit Unkraut bedeckt und seine Steinmauer eingestürzt.
And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, the face thereof was covered with nettles, and the stone wall thereof was broken down.
32 Als ich das sah, nahm ich es mir zu Herzen, ich beachtete es und ließ es mir zur Lehre dienen:
Then I beheld, and considered well: I saw, and received instruction.
33 »Noch ein wenig Schlaf, noch ein wenig Schlummer, noch ein wenig die Hände falten, um auszuruhen!«
[Yet] a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
34 So kommt denn die Armut im Eilschritt über dich und der Mangel über dich wie ein gewappneter Mann.
So shall thy poverty come as a robber; and thy want as an armed man.
