Sprueche 10

1 Die Sprüche Salomos. Ein weiser Sohn macht seinem Vater Freude, aber ein törichter Sohn ist seiner Mutter Kummer. –

The Proverbs of Solomon: A wise son, maketh a glad father, but, a foolish son, is the grief of his mother.

2 Ungerecht erworbene Schätze bringen keinen Segen, aber Gerechtigkeit errettet vom Tode. –

The treasures of lawlessness, do not profit, but, righteousness, delivereth from death.

3 Den Hunger des Frommen läßt der HERR nicht ungestillt, aber die Gier der Gottlosen stößt er zurück. –

Yahweh, suffereth not to famish, the soul of the righteous, but, the desire of the lawless, he thrusteth away.

4 Wer mit lässiger Hand arbeitet, verarmt, aber die Hand der Fleißigen schafft Reichtum.

He becometh poor, who dealeth with a slack hand, but, the hand of the diligent, maketh rich.

5 Wer im Sommer einsammelt, handelt verständig; wer aber in der Erntezeit schläft, handelt schändlich. –

He that gathereth in summer, is a prudent son, he that sleepeth long in harvest, is a son causing shame.

6 Reicher Segen kommt auf das Haupt des Gerechten, aber der Mund der Gottlosen birgt Gewalttat. –

Blessings, are for the head of the righteous man, but, the mouth of the lawless, covereth up wrong.

7 Das Andenken des Gerechten bleibt im Segen, aber der Name der Gottlosen vermodert. –

The memory of the righteous, yieldeth blessing, but, the name of the lawless, dieth out.

8 Wer weisen Sinnes ist, nimmt Ratschläge an, aber ein närrischer Schwätzer kommt zu Fall. –

The wise in heart, will accept commandments, but, he that is foolish with his lips, shall be thrust away.

9 Wer in Unschuld wandelt, der wandelt sicher; wer aber krumme Wege einschlägt, der wird durchschaut. –

He that walketh uprightly, may walk securely, but, he that maketh crooked his ways, shall be found out.

10 Wer mit den Augen blinzelt, verursacht Kränkung, und ein närrischer Schwätzer kommt zu Fall. –

He that winketh with the eye, causeth sorrow, and, he that is foolish with his lips, shall be thrust aside.

11 Der Mund des Gerechten ist ein Quell des Lebens, aber der Mund der Gottlosen birgt Gewalttat. –

A well-spring of life, is the mouth of the righteous, but, the mouth of the lawless, covereth wrong.

12 Haß ruft Streit hervor, aber die Liebe deckt alle Verfehlungen zu. –

Hatred, stirreth up strifes, but, over all transgressions, love throweth a covering.

13 Auf den Lippen des Verständigen findet man Weisheit, aber auf den Rücken des Unverständigen gehört der Stock. –

In the lips of the intelligent, is found wisdom, but, a rod, is for the back of him that lacketh sense.

14 Die Weisen halten mit ihrer Erkenntnis zurück, aber der Mund des Toren ist herannahendes Verderben. –

Wise men, treasure up knowledge, but, the mouth of the foolish, is a terror near at hand.

15 Des Reichen Besitz ist für ihn eine feste Burg, aber für die Dürftigen ist ihre Armut ein Unheil. –

The substance of the rich, is his strong city, the terror of the poor, is their poverty.

16 Der Erwerb des Gerechten dient zum Leben, das Einkommen des Gottlosen zur Sünde. –

The labour of the righteous, [leadeth] to life, the increase of the lawless, to sin.

17 Wer Zurechtweisung beachtet, befindet sich auf dem Wege zum Leben; wer aber Warnungen unbeachtet läßt, geht irre. –

On the way to life, is he that heedeth correction, but, he that hateth reproof, is going astray.

18 Wer Haß in sich verbirgt, hat Lügenlippen, und wer üble Nachrede verbreitet, ist ein Tor. –

He that concealeth hatred, hath false lips, and he that sendeth forth slander, the same, is a dullard.

19 Wo viele Worte sind, da geht es ohne Verfehlung nicht ab; wer aber seine Lippen im Zaume hält, handelt klug. –

In the multitude of words, there wanteth not transgression, but, he that restraineth his lips, sheweth prudence.

20 Kostbares Silber ist die Zunge des Gerechten, der Verstand der Gottlosen (aber) ist wenig wert. –

Choice silver, is the tongue of the righteous, but, the sense of the lawless, is very small.

21 Die Lippen des Gerechten schaffen vielen eine Erquickung, aber die Toren gehen durch Unverstand zugrunde. –

The lips of the righteous, feed multitudes, but, the foolish, for lack of sense, shall die.

22 Der Segen des HERRN ist’s, der reich macht, und neben ihm fügt (eigene) Anstrengung nichts hinzu. –

The blessing of Yahweh, itself maketh rich, and he addeth no grievance therewith.

23 Dem Toren machen Schandtaten Vergnügen, dem verständigen Manne aber die (Betätigung der) Weisheit. –

It is, mere sport to a stupid man, to commit lewdness, but, wisdom, pertaineth to a man of understanding.

24 Wovor dem Gottlosen graut, das kommt über ihn; was aber die Gerechten sich wünschen, gewährt er ihnen. –

The dread of the lawless one, the same, shall overtake him, but, the desire of the righteous, shall he granted.

25 Sobald der Sturmwind daherfährt, ist der Gottlose nicht mehr da, der Gerechte aber ist für die Ewigkeit fest gegründet. –

Like the passing away of a tempest, so the lawless one is not, but, the righteous, [hath] an age-abiding foundation.

26 Was der Essig für die Zähne und der Rauch für die Augen, das ist der Faule für den, der ihn ausgesandt hat. –

As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so, is the sluggard, to them who send him.

27 Die Furcht des HERRN verlängert die Lebenstage, aber die Jahre der Gottlosen werden verkürzt. –

The reverence of Yahweh, addeth days, but, the years of the lawless, shall be shortened.

28 Das Harren der Gerechten endet in Freude, aber die Hoffnung der Gottlosen wird vereitelt. –

The hope of the righteous, shall be gladness, but, the expectation of the lawless, shall vanish.

29 Das Walten des HERRN ist eine Schutzwehr für den Unschuldigen, aber ein Schrecken für die Übeltäter. –

A refuge for the blameless, is the path of Yahweh, but, destruction, [awaiteth] the workers of iniquity.

30 Der Gerechte wird nimmermehr wanken, aber die Gottlosen werden im Lande nicht wohnen bleiben. –

The righteous, to times age-abiding, shall remain unshaken, but, the lawless, shall not inhabit the earth.

31 Der Mund des Gerechten läßt Weisheit sprießen, aber die falsche Zunge wird ausgerottet. –

The mouth of the righteous, beareth the fruit of wisdom, but, a perverse tongue, shall be cut off.

32 Die Lippen des Gerechten verstehen sich auf das, was wohlgefällig ist, aber der Mund der Gottlosen nur auf Verkehrtes.

The lips of the righteous, know what is pleasing, but, the mouth of the lawless, [speaketh] perversities.
