4 Mose 27

1 Da traten herzu die Töchter Zelophhads, des Sohnes Hephers, des Sohnes Gileads, des Sohnes Machirs, des Sohnes Manasses, aus den Geschlechtern Manasses, des Sohnes Josephs; und die Namen seiner Töchter waren Mahla, Noa, Hogla, Milka und Thirza.

And there came nigh the daughters of Zelophehad, the son of Chepher, the son of Gil'ad, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of Menasseh the son of Joseph: and these are the names of his daughters, Machlah, No'ah, and Choglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah.

2 Die traten also vor Mose und vor den Priester Eleasar, vor die Stammesfürsten und die ganze Gemeinde am Eingang des Offenbarungszeltes und sagten:

And they stood before Moses, and before Elazar the priest, and before the princes, and all the congregation, by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying,

3 »Unser Vater ist in der Wüste gestorben, hat aber nicht zu der Rotte derer gehört, die sich gegen den HERRN zusammengetan haben, zu der Rotte Korahs, sondern er ist wegen seiner eigenen Sündhaftigkeit gestorben, ohne Söhne zu hinterlassen.

Our father died in the wilderness; but he was not among the company of those that gathered themselves together against the Lord in the company of Korach; but in his own sin he died, and sons he had not.

4 Warum soll nun der Name unseres Vaters aus seinem Geschlecht gestrichen werden, weil er keinen Sohn gehabt hat? Gib uns einen Erbbesitz unter den Geschlechtsgenossen unseres Vaters!«

Why should the name of our father be done away from the midst of his family, because he hath no son? Give unto us a possession among the brothers of our father.

5 Als nun Mose ihre Rechtssache dem HERRN (zur Entscheidung) vorlegte,

And Moses brought their cause before the Lord.

6 gab der HERR dem Mose folgenden Bescheid:

And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying,

7 »Die Töchter Zelophhads haben recht; du sollst ihnen daher unweigerlich einen Erbbesitz unter den Geschlechtsgenossen ihres Vaters geben und sollst den ihrem Vater zustehenden Erbbesitz auf sie übergehen lassen.

The daughters of Zelophehad speak rightly: thou shalt indeed give them a possession as an inheritance among the brothers of their father; and thou shalt cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them.

8 Den Israeliten aber sollst du folgende Verordnung kundtun: ›Wenn ein Mann stirbt, ohne einen Sohn zu hinterlassen, so sollt ihr seinen Erbbesitz auf seine Tochter übergehen lassen;

And unto the children of Israel shalt thou speak, saying, If a man die, and have no son, then shall ye cause his inheritance to pass unto his daughter.

9 und wenn er keine Tochter hat, so sollt ihr seinen Erbbesitz seinen Brüdern geben;

And if he have no daughter, then shall ye give his inheritance unto his brothers.

10 wenn er auch keine Brüder hat, so sollt ihr seinen Erbbesitz den Brüdern seines Vaters geben;

And if he have no brothers, then shall ye give his inheritance unto his father's brothers.

11 und wenn sein Vater keine Brüder hat, so sollt ihr seinen Erbbesitz seinem nächsten Blutsverwandten aus seinem Geschlecht geben, damit er ihn in Besitz nimmt.‹« Dies soll für die Israeliten eine Rechtsbestimmung sein, wie der HERR dem Mose geboten hat.

And if his father have no brothers, then shall ye give his inheritance unto his kinsman that is next to him of his family, and he shall inherit it; and it shall be unto the children of Israel a statute of justice, as the Lord hath commanded Moses.

12 Hierauf gebot der HERR dem Mose: »Steige auf das Gebirge Abarim hier und sieh dir das Land an, das ich für die Israeliten bestimmt habe.

And the Lord said unto Moses, Go thou up unto this mount of 'Abarim, and see the land which I have given unto the children of Israel.

13 Wenn du es dir angeschaut hast, sollst auch du zu deinen Volksgenossen versammelt werden, wie dein Bruder Aaron zu ihnen bereits versammelt worden ist,

And when thou hast seen it, then shalt thou also be gathered unto thy people, as Aaron thy brother hath been gathered.

14 weil ihr in der Wüste Zin, als die Gemeinde mit mir haderte, meinem Geheiß, mich durch Beschaffung von Wasser vor ihnen zu verherrlichen, nicht nachgekommen seid« – das bezieht sich auf das Haderwasser von Kades in der Wüste Zin.

Because ye rebelled against my order in the desert of Zin, at the quarreling of the congregation, to sanctify me through the waters before their eyes: these are the waters of Meribah in Kadesh, in the wilderness of Zin.

15 Da antwortete Mose dem HERRN folgendermaßen:

And Moses spoke unto the Lord, saying,

16 »Gott, der HERR über Leben und Tod alles Fleisches, wolle einen Mann über die Gemeinde bestellen,

Let the Lord, the God of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man over the congregation,

17 der an ihrer Spitze aus- und einziehe, der sie ins Feld hinausführe und wieder zurückführe, damit die Gemeinde des HERRN nicht wie eine Herde ohne Hirten sei!«

Who may go out before them, and who may come in before them, and who may lead them out, and who may bring them in; that the congregation of the Lord be not as a flock which have no shepherd.

18 Da gebot der HERR dem Mose: »Nimm Josua zu dir, den Sohn Nuns, einen Mann, in dem (mein) Geist wohnt, und lege deine Hand fest auf ihn;

And the Lord said unto Moses, Take to thyself Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom there is a spirit, and thou shalt lay thy hand upon him;

19 laß ihn dann vor den Priester Eleasar und vor die ganze Gemeinde treten, setze ihn vor ihren Augen in sein Amt ein

And thou shalt cause him to stand before Elazar the priest, and before all the congregation; and thou shalt give him a charge before their eyes.

20 und teile ihm etwas von deiner Hoheit mit, damit die ganze Gemeinde der Israeliten ihm gehorsam ist.

And thou shalt put some of thy greatness upon him; in order that all the congregation of the children of Israel may be obedient.

21 Er soll sich dann (bei jeder Gelegenheit) an den Priester Eleasar wenden, damit dieser für ihn das Urim-Orakel vor dem HERRN befragt: nach dessen Weisung sollen sie zum Kampf ausziehen und ebenso nach dessen Weisung wieder heimkehren, er und alle Israeliten mit ihm, überhaupt die ganze Gemeinde.«

And before Elazar the priest shall he stand, and he shall ask of him after the judgment of the Urim before the Lord: at his direction shall they go out, and at his direction shall they come in, he, and all the children of Israel with him, and all the congregation.

22 Mose tat, wie der HERR ihm geboten hatte: er nahm Josua, ließ ihn vor den Priester Eleasar und vor die ganze Gemeinde treten,

And Moses did, as the Lord had commanded him; and he took Joshua, and caused him to stand before Elazar the priest, and before all the congregation;

23 legte dann seine Hände fest auf ihn und setzte ihn so in sein Amt ein, wie der HERR es durch Mose angeordnet hatte.

And he laid his hands upon him, and gave him a charge: as the Lord had commanded by the hand of Moses.
