Joel 3

1 »Denn wisset wohl: in jenen Tagen und zu jener Zeit, wo ich das Geschick Judas und Jerusalems wenden werde,

For, behold, in those days and in that time, when I will have converted the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem,

2 da will ich alle Heidenvölker versammeln und sie in das Tal Josaphat hinabführen, um dort mit ihnen ins Gericht zu gehen wegen Israels, meines Volkes und meines Eigentums, weil sie es unter die Heiden zerstreut und mein Land aufgeteilt haben;

I will gather all the Gentiles, and will lead them into the valley of Jehoshaphat. And there I will dispute with them over my people, and over Israel, my inheritance, for they have scattered them among the nations and have divided my land.

3 und über mein Volk haben sie das Los geworfen und Knaben als Preis für Lustdirnen hingegeben und die Mädchen um Wein verkauft, den sie vertrunken haben.

And they have cast lots over my people; and the boy they have placed in the brothel, and the girl they have sold for wine, so that they might drink.

4 Und was habt auch ihr mit mir zu schaffen, Tyrus und Sidon und alle ihr Bezirke des Philisterlandes? Wollt ihr mir etwas vergelten, was ich euch angetan habe, oder wollt ihr selbst mir etwas antun? Schnell und unverzüglich will ich euer Tun auf euer Haupt zurückfallen lassen!

Truly, what is there between you and me, Tyre and Sidon and all the distant places of the Philistines? How will you take vengeance on me? And if you were to revenge yourselves against me, I would deliver a repayment to you, quickly and soon, upon your head.

5 Ihr habt ja doch mein Silber und mein Gold geraubt und meine wertvollsten Kleinodien in eure Paläste gebracht;

For you have carried away my silver and gold. And my desirable and most beautiful, you have taken into your shrines.

6 und die Kinder Judas und die Kinder Jerusalems habt ihr an die Griechen verkauft, um sie weit von ihrer Heimat zu entfernen.

And you, sons of Judah and sons of Jerusalem, you have sold the sons of the Greeks, so that you might drive them far from their own territory.

7 Wisset wohl: ich will sie wieder aufbrechen lassen von dem Orte, wohin ihr sie verkauft habt, und will euer Tun auf euer Haupt zurückfallen lassen;

Behold, I will raise them up from the place into which you have sold them, and I will turn back your retribution on your own head.

8 und ich will eure Söhne und Töchter an die Kinder Judas verkaufen, die werden sie dann wieder an die Sabäer verhandeln, an ein fernwohnendes Volk; denn der HERR hat’s geboten.«

And I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hands of the sons of Judah, and they will sell them to the Sabeans, a distant nation, for the Lord has spoken.

9 »Macht dieses unter den Heidenvölkern bekannt: ›Rüstet euch zum heiligen Kriege! Bietet die geübten Streiter auf, laßt alle Kriegsleute aufmarschieren und anrücken!

Proclaim this among the Gentiles: “Sanctify a war, raise up the strong. Approach, ascend, all men of war.

10 Schmiedet eure Pflugscharen zu Schwertern um und eure Winzermesser zu Lanzen (-spitzen)! Der Feigling sage: Ich bin ein Held!

Cut your ploughs into swords and your hoes into spears. Let the weak say, ‘For I am strong.’

11 Eilt und kommt herbei, alle ihr Heidenvölker ringsum, und scharet euch zusammen!‹« – Dorthin, HERR, laß deine Streiter hinabziehen! –

Break out and advance, all nations of the world, and gather together. There the Lord will cause all your strong ones to meet death.”

12 »Die Völker sollen sich aufmachen und in das Tal Josaphat hinabziehen; denn dort will ich zu Gericht sitzen über alle Heidenvölker ringsum.

Let them arise and ascend to the valley of Jehoshaphat. For there I will sit, so as to judge all the nations of the world.

13 Legt die Sichel an, denn die Ernte ist reif! Kommt und stampft, denn die Kelter ist voll, ja, die Kufen fließen über, denn ihre Gottlosigkeit ist groß!« –

Send forth the sickles, because the harvest has matured. Advance and descend, for the press is full, the pressing room is overflowing. For their malice has been increasing.

14 Scharen über Scharen treffen im Tal der Entscheidung ein, denn nahe ist der Tag des HERRN im Tal der Entscheidung.

Nations, nations in the valley of being cut to pieces: for the day of the Lord fittingly takes place in the valley of being cut to pieces.

15 Sonne und Mond verfinstern sich, und die Sterne verlieren ihren Glanz;

The sun and the moon have been darkened, and the stars have withdrawn their splendor.

16 der HERR brüllt vom Zion her und läßt seine Stimme aus Jerusalem erschallen, so daß Himmel und Erde erbeben; aber für sein Volk ist der HERR eine Zuflucht und eine feste Burg für die Kinder Israel.

And the Lord will roar from Zion and utter his voice from Jerusalem. And the heavens and the earth will be moved. And the Lord will be the hope of his people and the strength of the sons of Israel.

17 »Da werdet ihr denn erkennen, daß ich, der HERR, euer Gott bin, der ich auf dem Zion wohne, meinem heiligen Berge; und Jerusalem wird dann heiliges Gebiet sein, welches Ausländer nie wieder durchziehen werden.«

And you will know that I am the Lord your God, dwelling on Zion, my holy mountain. And Jerusalem will be holy, and strangers will not cross through it anymore.

18 »Und dann, an jenem Tage, wird es geschehen: da werden die Berge von Most triefen und die Hügel von Milch überfließen und alle Rinnsale Judas voll Wassers strömen; und ein Quell wird aus dem Hause des HERRN hervorbrechen und das Akaziental bewässern.

And it will happen, in that day, that the mountains will drip sweetness, and the hills will flow with milk. And the waters will pass through all the rivers of Judah. And a fountain will go forth from the house of the Lord, and it will irrigate the desert of thorns.

19 Ägypten wird zur Wüste werden und Edom zur öden Steppe wegen der Freveltat an den Kindern Judas, weil sie unschuldiges Blut in deren Lande vergossen haben.

Egypt will be in desolation, and Edom will be a wilderness destroyed, because of what they have unfairly done to the sons of Judah, and because they have shed innocent blood in their land.

20 Juda aber wird ewig bewohnt bleiben und Jerusalem von Geschlecht zu Geschlecht;

And Judea will be inhabited forever, and Jerusalem for generation upon generation.

21 und ich werde ihr Blut rächen, das ich (bisher) nicht gerächt habe; und der HERR wird auf dem Zion wohnen.«

And I will cleanse their blood, which I had not cleansed. And the Lord will remain in Zion.
