Job 1
1 Es lebte einst ein Mann im Lande Uz, Hiob mit Namen, und dieser Mann war fromm und rechtschaffen, fürchtete Gott und mied das Böse.
A man he was in [the] land of Uz [was] Job name his and he was - the man that blameless and upright and fearing God and turning aside from evil.
2 Sieben Söhne und drei Töchter wurden ihm geboren;
And they were born to him seven sons and three daughters.
3 dazu besaß er siebentausend Stück Kleinvieh und dreitausend Kamele, fünfhundert Joch Rinder, fünfhundert Eselinnen und ein sehr zahlreiches Gesinde, so daß dieser Mann unter allen Bewohnern des Ostlandes der angesehenste war.
And it was livestock his seven thousand sheep and three thousand camels and five hundred pair[s] of ox[en] and five hundred female donkeys and service much very and he was the man that great more than all [the] people of [the] east.
4 Nun pflegten seine Söhne im Hause eines jeden von ihnen an seinem Tage ein festliches Mahl zu veranstalten und luden dann allemal auch ihre drei Schwestern ein, mit ihnen zu essen und zu trinken.
And they went sons his and they made a feast [the] house of each one day his and they sent and they invited [the] three (sisters their *Q(k)*) to eat and to drink with them.
5 Wenn aber die Tage des betreffenden Gastmahls um waren, ließ Hiob ihnen sagen, sie möchten sich heiligen; er stand dann am andern Morgen früh auf und brachte für jeden von ihnen ein Brandopfer dar; denn Hiob dachte: »Vielleicht haben meine Kinder sich versündigt und in ihrem Herzen Gott verwünscht.« So machte es Hiob jedesmal.
And it was that they had gone round [the] days of the feast and he sent Job and he sanctified them and he rose early in the morning and he offered up burnt offerings [the] number of all of them for he said Job perhaps they have sinned children my and they have blessed God in heart their thus he did Job all the days.
6 Nun begab es sich eines Tages, daß die Gottessöhne kamen, um sich vor Gott, den HERRN, zu stellen; und unter ihnen erschien auch der Satan.
And it was the day and they came [the] sons of God to present themselves on Yahweh and he came also the adversary in midst of them.
7 Da fragte der HERR den Satan: »Woher kommst du?« Der Satan gab dem HERRN zur Antwort: »Ich bin auf der Erde umhergestreift und habe eine Wanderung auf ihr vorgenommen.«
And he said Yahweh to the adversary from where? are you coming and he answered the adversary Yahweh and he said from roving about on the earth and from going about on it.
8 Da sagte der HERR zum Satan: »Hast du wohl auf meinen Knecht Hiob achtgegeben? Denn so wie er ist kein Mensch auf der Erde, so fromm und rechtschaffen, so gottesfürchtig und dem Bösen feind.«
And he said Yahweh to the adversary ¿ have you set heart your on servant my Job for there not [is] like him on the earth a man blameless and upright fearing God and [who] turns aside from evil.
9 Der Satan erwiderte dem HERRN: »Ist Hiob etwa umsonst so gottesfürchtig?
And he answered the adversary Yahweh and he said ¿ in vain has he feared Job God.
10 Hast du nicht selbst ihn und sein Haus und seinen ganzen Besitz rings umhegt? Was seine Hände angreifen, das segnest du, so daß sein Herdenbesitz sich immer weiter im Lande ausgebreitet hat.
¿ Not (you *Q(K)*) have you put a hedge behind him and behind house his and behind all that [belongs] to him from round about [the] work of hands his you have blessed and livestock his it has spread out in the land.
11 Aber strecke doch einmal deine Hand aus und lege sie an alles, was er besitzt: dann wird er sich schon offen von dir lossagen.«
And but stretch out please hand your and touch all that [belongs] to him if not on face your he will bless you.
12 Da antwortete der HERR dem Satan: »Gut! alles, was ihm gehört, soll in deine Gewalt gegeben sein! Nur an ihn selbst darfst du die Hand nicht legen!« Da ging der Satan vom Angesicht des HERRN hinweg.
And he said Yahweh to the adversary there! all that [belongs] to him [is] in hand your only against him may not you stretch out hand your and he went out the adversary from with [the] presence of Yahweh.
13 Während nun eines Tages Hiobs Söhne und Töchter im Hause ihres ältesten Bruders schmausten und Wein tranken,
And it was the day and sons his and daughters his [were] eating and drinking wine in [the] house of brother their the firstborn.
14 kam plötzlich ein Bote zu Hiob und meldete: »Die Rinder pflügten gerade, und die Eselinnen befanden sich neben ihnen auf der Weide,
And a messenger he came to Job and he said the ox[en] they were plowing and the female donkeys [were] grazing on hands their.
15 da machten die Sabäer einen Überfall und trieben sie weg und erschlugen die Knechte mit dem Schwert; ich bin der einzige, der entronnen ist, um es dir zu melden!«
And it fell Sabean[s] and it took them and the servants they struck to [the] mouth of [the] sword and I have escaped! only I to alone me to tell to you.
16 Während dieser noch redete, kam schon ein anderer und berichtete: »Feuer Gottes ist vom Himmel gefallen und hat das Kleinvieh und die Knechte vollständig verbrannt; ich bin der einzige, der entronnen ist, um es dir zu melden!«
Still - this [one] [was] speaking and this [one] he came and he said [the] fire of God it fell from the heavens and it burned the sheep and the servants and it consumed them and I have escaped! only I to alone me to tell to you.
17 Während dieser noch redete, kam schon wieder ein anderer und berichtete: »Die Chaldäer sind in drei Heerhaufen, die sie aufgestellt hatten, über die Kamele hergefallen und haben sie weggetrieben; sie haben auch die Knechte mit dem Schwert niedergemacht; ich bin der einzige, der entronnen ist, um es dir zu melden!«
Still - this [one] [was] speaking and this [one] he came and he said [the] Chaldeans they formed - three companies and they made a raid on the camels and they took them and the servants they struck to [the] mouth of [the] sword and I have escaped! only I to alone me to tell to you.
18 Dieser hatte noch nicht ausgeredet, da kam wieder ein anderer und berichtete: »Deine Söhne und Töchter waren beim Essen und Weintrinken im Hause ihres ältesten Bruders,
Until this [one] [was] speaking and this [one] he came and he said sons your and daughters your [were] eating and drinking wine in [the] house of brother their the firstborn.
19 da kam plötzlich ein gewaltiger Sturmwind über die Steppe herüber und faßte das Haus an seinen vier Ecken, so daß es auf die jungen Leute stürzte und sie ums Leben kamen; ich bin der einzige, der entronnen ist, um es dir zu melden!«
And there! a wind great it came - from [the] other side of the wilderness and it touched [the] four [the] corners of the house and it fell on the youths and they died and I have escaped! only I to alone me to tell to you.
20 Da stand Hiob auf, zerriß sein Gewand und schor sich das Haupt; dann warf er sich auf die Erde nieder, berührte den Boden mit der Stirn,
And he arose Job and he tore robe his and he shaved head his and he fell [the] earth towards and he bowed down.
21 und sagte: »Nackt bin ich aus meiner Mutter Schoß gekommen, und nackt werde ich dorthin zurückkehren; der HERR hat’s gegeben, der HERR hat’s genommen: der Name des HERRN sei gepriesen!«
And he said naked (I came out *Q(k)*) from [the] womb of mother my and naked I will return there towards Yahweh he gave and Yahweh he has taken may it be [the] name of Yahweh blessed.
22 Bei allen diesen Heimsuchungen versündigte sich Hiob nicht und tat nichts Ungebührliches vor Gott.
In all this not he sinned Job and not he ascribe unseemliness to God.
