Job 8
1 Da nahm Bildad von Suah das Wort und sagte:
Then answered Bildad the Shuchite, and said,
2 »Wie lange noch willst du solche Reden führen, und wie lange noch sollen die Worte deines Mundes als Sturmwind daherfahren?
How long wilt thou speak these things? and [let] like a mighty wind be the words of thy mouth?
3 Beugt Gott etwa das Recht, oder verdreht der Allmächtige die Gerechtigkeit?
Should God pervert justice? or should the Almighty pervert righteousness?
4 Nur wenn deine Kinder gegen ihn gesündigt hatten, hat er sie die Folge ihrer Übertretung tragen lassen.
If thy children have sinned against him, then did he send them off through the means of their transgression.
5 Wenn du aber Gott ernstlich suchst und zum Allmächtigen flehst,
If thou wilt earnestly seek for God, and make thy supplication to the Almighty;
6 wenn du dabei unsträflich und rechtschaffen bist: ja, dann wird er zu deinem Heil erwachen und deine Wohnung als eine Stätte der Gerechtigkeit wiederherstellen.
If thou become pure and upright: surely then will he watch over thee, and restore thy righteous habitation.
7 Da wird dann dein vormaliger Glücksstand klein erscheinen gegenüber der Größe deiner nachmaligen Lage.«
And thy beginning will have been small; because thy latter end will grow up greatly.
8 »Denn befrage nur das frühere Geschlecht und achte auf das, was ihre Väter erforscht haben!
For ask, I pray thee, of an earlier generation, and prepare thyself to [stand by] the research of their fathers; —
9 Denn wir sind nur von gestern her und wissen nichts, weil unsere Tage nur ein Schatten auf Erden sind;
For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because a [mere] shadow are our days upon earth; —
10 sie aber werden dich sicherlich belehren, werden dir’s sagen und aus der Tiefe ihrer Einsicht die Worte hervorgehen lassen:
Behold, these will truly teach thee, they will speak unto thee, and out of their very heart will they bring forth words:
11 ›Schießt Schilfrohr auf, wo kein Sumpf ist? Wächst Riedgras ohne Wasser auf?
Can the bulrush shoot upward without mire? can the meadow-grass grow up without water?
12 Noch steht es in frischem Triebe, ist noch nicht reif zum Schnitt, da verdorrt es schon vor allem andern Gras.
It is yet in its greenness, not yet cut down, when it withereth before any other grass.
13 So ergeht es auch allen, die Gott vergessen, und so wird die Hoffnung des Ruchlosen zunichte;
So are the paths of all that forget God; and the hope of the hypocrite will perish:
14 denn seine Zuversicht setzt er auf Sommerfäden, und das, worauf er vertraut, ist ein Spinngewebe.
[It is he] whose trust will be cut off, and but a spider's web is that in which he confideth.
15 Er lehnt sich an sein Haus, doch es hält nicht stand; er klammert sich fest daran, doch es bleibt nicht stehen.
He leaneth against his house, but it shall not stand: he layeth fast hold on it, but it shall not remain erect.
16 Er strotzt von Saft auch in der Sonnenglut, und seine Schößlinge breiten sich über seinen Garten aus;
He is in full vigor before the sun, and over his garden his shoots go forth.
17 (sogar) um Steingeröll schlingen sich seine Wurzeln, und in Steingemäuer bohren sie sich hinein;
His roots are twisted about a stoneheap, he selecteth [for himself] a place of stones.
18 wenn aber er ihn von seiner Stätte wegreißt, so verleugnet diese ihn: Ich habe dich nie gesehen!
But when men destroy him from his place, then will it deny him, saying, I have never seen thee.
19 Siehe, das ist die Freude, die er von seinem Lebenswege hat, und aus dem Boden sprossen wieder andere auf.‹«
Behold, this is the joy of his way, and out of the [same] dust others will grow up.
20 »Nein, Gott verwirft den Frommen nicht und reicht keinem Frevler die Hand.
Behold, God will not reject a perfect man, and will not hold fast by their hand the evil-doers:
21 Während er dir den Mund wieder mit Lachen füllen wird und deine Lippen mit lautem Jubel,
Till he fill thy mouth with laughing, and thy lips with joyful shouting.
22 werden deine Widersacher mit Schande bedeckt dastehen, und das Zelt der Frevler wird verschwunden sein.«
They that hate thee shall be clothed with shame; and the tent of the wicked shall be no more.
