Job 27
1 Hierauf fuhr Hiob nochmals in seiner Rede so fort:
And Job again took up the word and said,
2 »So wahr Gott lebt, der mir mein Recht entzogen, und der Allmächtige, der mich in Verzweiflung gestürzt hat:
By the life of God, who has taken away my right; and of the Ruler of all, who has made my soul bitter;
3 Solange irgend noch mein Lebensodem in mir ist und Gottes Hauch in meiner Nase –
(For all my breath is still in me, and the spirit of God is my life; )
4 nie sollen meine Lippen eine Unwahrheit reden und meine Zunge eine Täuschung aussprechen!
Truly, there is no deceit in my lips, and my tongue does not say what is false.
5 Fern sei es also von mir, euch recht zu geben, nein, bis zum letzten Atemzuge verleugne ich meine Unschuld nicht!
Let it be far from me! I will certainly not say that you are right! I will come to death before I give up my righteousness.
6 An meiner Gerechtigkeit halte ich fest und lasse sie nicht fahren: mein Gewissen straft mich wegen keines einzigen meiner Lebenstage!«
I will keep it safe, and will not let it go: my heart has nothing to say against any part of my life.
7 »Wie dem Frevler möge es meinem Feinde ergehen und meinem Widersacher wie dem Bösewicht!
Let my hater be like the evil man, and let him who comes against me be as the sinner.
8 Denn welche Hoffnung hat der Ruchlose noch, wenn Gott seinen Lebensfaden abschneidet, wenn er ihm seine Seele abfordert?
For what is the hope of the sinner when he is cut off, when God takes back his soul?
9 Wird Gott wohl sein Schreien hören, wenn Drangsal über ihn hereinbricht?
Will his cry come to the ears of God when he is in trouble?
10 Oder darf er auf den Allmächtigen sich getrost verlassen, Gott anrufen zu jeder Zeit?«
Will he take delight in the Ruler of all, and make his prayer to God at all times?
11 »Ich will euch über Gottes Tun belehren und, wie der Allmächtige es hält, euch nicht verhehlen.
I will give you teaching about the hand of God; I will not keep secret from you what is in the mind of the Ruler of all.
12 Seht doch, ihr alle habt euch selbst davon überzeugt: warum seid ihr gleichwohl in so eitlem Wahn befangen?
Truly, you have all seen it yourselves; why then have you become completely foolish?
13 Dies ist das Teil des frevelhaften Menschen bei Gott und das Erbe der Gewalttätigen, das sie vom Allmächtigen empfangen:
This is the punishment of the evil-doer from God, and the heritage given to the cruel by the Ruler of all.
14 Wenn seine Kinder groß werden, so ist’s für das Schwert, und seine Sprößlinge haben nicht satt zu essen.
If his children are increased, it is for the sword; and his offspring have not enough bread.
15 Wer ihm dann von den Seinen noch übrigbleibt, wird durch die Pest ins Grab gebracht, und ihre Witwen stellen nicht einmal eine Totenklage an.
When those of his house who are still living come to their end by disease, they are not put into the earth, and their widows are not weeping for them.
16 Wenn er Geld aufhäuft wie Staub und Gewänder ansammelt wie Gassenschmutz:
Though he may get silver together like dust, and make ready great stores of clothing;
17 er sammelt sie wohl, aber ein Gerechter bekleidet sich mit ihnen, und das Geld wird ein Schuldloser in Besitz nehmen.
He may get them ready, but the upright will put them on, and he who is free from sin will take the silver for a heritage.
18 Er hat sein Haus gebaut wie ein Spinngewebe und wie eine Hütte, die ein Feldhüter sich aufschlägt:
His house has no more strength than a spider's thread, or a watchman's tent.
19 als reicher Mann legt er sich schlafen, ohne daß es schon weggerafft wäre – schlägt er die Augen auf, so ist nichts mehr da;
He goes to rest full of wealth, but does so for the last time: on opening his eyes, he sees it there no longer.
20 Schrecknisse überfallen ihn bei Tage, bei Nacht rafft der Sturmwind ihn hinweg;
Fears overtake him like rushing waters; in the night the storm-wind takes him away.
21 der Ostwind hebt ihn empor, so daß er dahinfährt, und stürmt ihn hinweg von seiner Stätte.
The east wind takes him up and he is gone; he is forced violently out of his place.
22 Gott schleudert seine Geschosse erbarmungslos auf ihn; seiner Hand möchte er um jeden Preis entfliehen.
God sends his arrows against him without mercy; he goes in flight before his hand.
23 Man klatscht über ihn in die Hände, und Zischen folgt ihm nach von seiner Wohnstätte her.«
Men make signs of joy because of him, driving him from his place with sounds of hissing.
