Jesaja 51
1 Höret auf mich, die ihr der Gerechtigkeit nachjagt, ihr, die ihr den HERRN sucht! Blickt hin auf den Felsen, aus dem ihr gehauen, und auf die Brunnenhöhlung, aus der ihr ausgegraben seid!
Give ear to me, you that follow that which is just, and you that seek the Lord: look unto the rock whence you are hewn, and to the hole of the pit from which you are dug out.
2 Blickt hin auf Abraham, euren Vater, und auf Sara, die unter Schmerzen euch geboren hat! denn er war nur ein einzelner, als ich ihn berief, aber ich habe ihn gesegnet und zahlreich gemacht.
Look unto Abraham your father, and to Sara that bore you: for I called him alone, and blessed him, and multiplied him.
3 Denn Trost hat der HERR für Zion, Trost für alle seine Trümmerstätten und wird seine Wüstenei zu einem Paradies machen und seine Steppe zu einem Gottesgarten: Jubel und Freude wird sich in ihm einfinden, Danklied und Saitenspiel.
The Lord therefore will comfort Sion, and will comfort all the ruins thereof: and he will make her desert as a place of pleasure, and her wilderness as the garden of the Lord. Joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of praise.
4 Horcht auf mich, du mein Volk, und schenkt mir Gehör, ihr meine Volksgemeinde! denn Belehrung wird von mir ausgehen, und mein Recht will ich zur Erleuchtung der Völker feststellen.
Hearken unto me, O my people, and give ear to me, O my tribes: for a law shall go forth from me, and my judgment shall rest to be a light of the nations.
5 Meine Gerechtigkeit ist nahe, mein Heil im Anzug, und meine Arme werden die Völker richten; auf mich geht das Hoffen der Meeresländer und auf meinen Arm ihr Harren.
My just one is near at hand, my saviour is gone forth, and my arms shall judge the people: the islands shall look for me, and shall patiently wait for my arm.
6 Hebt eure Augen zum Himmel empor und blickt zur Erde unten! Denn der Himmel wird wie Rauch zergehen und die Erde wie ein Kleid zerfallen, und ihre Bewohner werden wie Mücken hinsterben; aber mein Heil wird ewig bestehen und meine Gerechtigkeit nicht hinfällig werden.
Lift up your eyes to heaven, and look down to the earth beneath: for the heavens shall vanish like smoke, and the earth shall be worn away like a garment, and the inhabitants thereof shall perish in like manner: but my salvation shall be for ever, and my justice shall not fail.
7 Höret auf mich, die ihr die Gerechtigkeit kennt und liebt, du Volk, in dessen Herzen mein Gesetz wohnt! Fürchtet euch nicht vor dem Hohn von Menschen und erschreckt nicht vor ihren Schmähreden!
Hearken to me, you that know what is just, my people who have my law in your heart: fear ye not the reproach of men, and be not afraid of their blasphemies.
8 Denn wie ein Kleid wird die Motte sie zerfressen und wie Wolle wird die Schabe sie verzehren; aber meine Gerechtigkeit wird ewig bestehen und mein Heil von Geschlecht zu Geschlecht.
For the worm shall eat them up as a garment: and the moth shall consume them as wool: but my salvation shall be for ever, and my justice from generation to generation,
9 Werde wach, werde wach, waffne dich mit Kraft, du Arm des HERRN! Werde wach wie in den Tagen der Vorzeit, in den längst vergangenen Zeitläufen! Bist du es nicht gewesen, der Rahab zerhauen, das Seeungeheuer durchbohrt hat?
Arise, arise, put on strength, O thou arm of the Lord, arise as in the days of old, in the ancient generations. Hast not thou struck the proud one, and wounded the dragon?
10 Bist du es nicht gewesen, der das Meer, die Gewässer der großen Urflut, trockengelegt und Meerestiefen wegsam gemacht hat, damit die Erlösten hindurchzögen?
Hast not thou dried up the sea, the water of the mighty deep, who madest the depth of the sea a way, that the delivered might pass over?
11 So werden denn die vom HERRN Erlösten heimkehren und mit Jubel nach Zion gelangen, und ewige Freude wird ihr Haupt umschweben: Frohlocken und Freude werden ihnen zuteil werden, Kummer und Seufzen entflohen sein.
And now they that are redeemed by the Lord, shall return, and shall come into Sion singing praises, and joy everlasting shall be upon their heads, they shall obtain joy and gladness, sorrow and mourning shall flee away.
12 Ich, ich bin es, der euch tröstet! Wer bist du gewesen, daß du dich vor Menschen gefürchtet hast, die doch sterblich sind, und vor Menschenkindern, die wie Gras vergehen,
I, I myself will comfort you: who art thou, that thou shouldst be afraid of a mortal man, and of the son of man, who shall wither away like grass?
13 und daß du den HERRN vergaßest, deinen Schöpfer, der den Himmel ausgespannt und die Erde gegründet hat? Und daß du immerfort, tagaus tagein, vor der Wut des Bedrängers bebtest, sooft er darauf ausging, dich zu verderben? Wo ist denn nun die Wut des Bedrängers?
And thou hast forgotten the Lord thy maker, who stretched out the heavens, and founded the earth: and thee hast been afraid continually all the day at the presence of his fury who afflicted thee, and had prepared himself to destroy thee: where is now the fury of the oppressor?
14 Gar bald wird der Geknebelte entfesselt werden und wird nicht sterben, um zur Unterwelt hinabzufahren, wird auch an dem erforderlichen Brot keinen Mangel mehr haben,
He shall quickly come that is going to open unto you, and he shall not kill unto utter destruction, neither shall his bread fail.
15 so wahr ich der HERR, dein Gott, es bin, der das Meer aufwühlt, daß seine Wogen brausen: HERR der Heerscharen ist sein Name –
But I am the Lord thy God, who trouble the sea, and the waves thereof swell: the Lord of hosts is my name.
16 und ich habe meine Worte dir in den Mund gelegt und dich im Schatten meiner Hand geborgen –, um den Himmel zu schaffen und die Erde zu gründen und zu Zion zu sagen: »Mein Volk bist du!«
I have put my words in thy mouth, and have protected thee in the shadow of my hand, that thou mightest plant the heavens, and found the earth: and mightest say to Sion: Thou art my people.
17 Erwache, erwache, stehe auf, Jerusalem, (du Stadt) die aus der Hand des HERRN den Becher seines Zornes getrunken, den Kelch des Taumeltranks bis zur Neige geleert hat!
Arise, arise, stand up, O Jerusalem, which hast drunk at the hand of the Lord the cup of his wrath; thou hast drunk even to the bottom of the cup of dead sleep, and thou hast drunk even to the dregs.
18 Es war für sie von allen Söhnen, die sie geboren hatte, keiner da, der sie zum Ruheplatz führte, und keiner, der sie bei der Hand faßte von allen Söhnen, die sie großgezogen hatte.
There is none that can uphold her among all the children that she hath brought forth: and there is none that taketh her by the hand among all the children that she hath brought up.
19 Ein zwiefacher Schicksalsschlag ist es, der dich getroffen hat – wer bezeigt dir Beileid? –: Vergewaltigung und Verheerung, Hungersnot und das Schwert; wie könnte ich dich trösten?
There are two things that have happened to thee: who shall be sorry for thee? desolation, and destruction, and the famine, and the sword, who shall comfort thee?
20 Deine Söhne haben ohnmächtig dagelegen, hingesunken an allen Straßenecken, wie eine ins Netz geratene Antilope, voll getroffen vom Zorn des HERRN, vom Schelten deines Gottes.
Thy children are cast forth, they have slept at the head of all the ways, as the wild ox that is snared: full of the indignation of the Lord, of the rebuke of thy God.
21 Darum höre doch dieses, du Unglückliche, die du trunken bist, doch nicht vom Wein!
Therefore hear this, thou poor little one, and thou that art drunk but no with wine.
22 So hat der HERR gesprochen, der Höchste und dein Gott, der seines Volkes Sache führt: »Siehe, ich nehme dir den Taumelbecher, den Kelch meines Grimmes, aus der Hand: du sollst nicht länger aus ihm trinken,
Thus saith thy Sovereign the Lord and thy God, who will fight for his people: Behold I have taken out of thy hand the cup of dead sleep, the dregs of the cup of my indignation, thou shalt not drink it again any more.
23 sondern ich gebe ihn deinen Peinigern in die Hand, die dir höhnisch zugerufen haben: ›Bücke dich, daß wir über dich hinschreiten!‹« Da mußtest du deinen Rücken dem Erdboden gleich machen und wie zu einer Straße für die darüber Hinschreitenden.
And I will put it in the hand of them that have oppressed thee, and have said to thy soul: Bow down, that we may go over: and thou hast laid thy body as the ground, and as a way to them that went over.
