Jesaja 47
1 Herunter mit dir (vom Thron) und setze dich in den Staub, du jungfräuliche Tochter Babel! Setze dich auf den Erdboden ohne Thron nieder, du Tochter der Chaldäer! Denn in Zukunft wird man dich nicht mehr die Zarte und Feine nennen.
Come down, sit on the ground, O virgin daughter of Babylon: sit on the ground, O daughter of the Chaldeans: for thou shalt no more be called tender and luxurious.
2 Nimm eine Mühle und mahle Mehl, schlage deinen Schleier zurück, hebe die Schleppe hoch, entblöße die Beine, wate durch strömendes Wasser,
Take a millstone, grind meal: remove thy veil, uncover thy white hairs, make bare the leg, pass through the rivers.
3 damit deine Blöße aufgedeckt wird und man auch deine Scham zu sehen bekommt! »Rache will ich nehmen und schonungslos gegen alle vorgehen!« spricht unser Erlöser:
Thy shame shall be uncovered, thy reproaches shall be brought to light: I will exact of thee due vengeance, I will no longer deliver thee to men.
4 HERR der Heerscharen ist sein Name, der Heilige Israels.
Thy deliverer is the Lord of hosts, the Holy One of Israel is his name.
5 Setze dich schweigend nieder und tritt in die Dunkelheit ein, Tochter der Chaldäer! Denn in Zukunft wird man dich nicht mehr Herrin der Königreiche nennen.
Sit thou down pierced with woe, go into darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans: thou shalt no more be called the strength of a kingdom.
6 Als ich meinem Volke schwer zürnte, mein Eigentumsvolk in Unehre fallen ließ und es in deine Gewalt gab, da hast du ihnen kein Erbarmen erwiesen, nein, dein Joch überschwer sogar auf Greisen lasten lassen
I have been provoked with my people; thou hast defiled mine inheritance: I gave them into thy hand, but thou didst not extend mercy to them: thou madest the yoke of the aged man very heavy,
7 und hast gesagt: »Ewig werde ich fortbestehen, eine Gebieterin für immer!«, so daß du dir dies nicht zu Herzen genommen und an das Ende davon nicht gedacht hast.
and saidst, I shall be a princess for ever: thou didst not perceive these things in thine heart, nor didst thou remember the latter end.
8 Nun aber höre dieses, du an Üppigkeit Gewöhnte, die du in Sorglosigkeit wohnst, die da in ihrem Herzen sagt: »Meinesgleichen gibt es sonst nicht! Ich werde nicht als Witwe dasitzen und Kinderlosigkeit nicht kennen lernen.«
But now hear these words, thou luxurious one, [who art] the one that sits [at ease], that is secure, that says in her heart, I am, and there is not another; I shall not sit a widow, neither shall I know bereavement.
9 Und doch wird dieses beides über dich kommen plötzlich, an einem Tage, Kinderlosigkeit und Witwenschaft; nach ihrem vollsten Maß werden sie über dich hereinbrechen trotz der Menge deiner Zauberkünste, trotz der gewaltigen Zahl deiner Bannsprüche.
But now these two things shall come upon thee suddenly in one day, the loss of children and widowhood shall come suddenly upon thee, for thy sorcery, for the strength of thine enchantments,
10 Und du hast dich in deiner Bosheit sicher gefühlt, hast gedacht: »Niemand sieht mich.« Deine Weisheit und Wissenschaft, die hat dich irregeführt, so daß du bei dir dachtest: »Meinesgleichen gibt es sonst keine!«
for thy trusting in wickedness: for thou saidst, I am, and there is not another: know thou, the understanding of these things and thy harlotry shall be thy shame; for thou saidst in thy heart, I am, and there is not another.
11 Und doch wird Unglück über dich hereinbrechen, das du nicht wegzuzaubern verstehen wirst, und Verderben wird dich überfallen, das du nicht zu beschwören vermagst, und unversehens wird Vernichtung über dich kommen, von der du nichts ahnst.
And destruction shall come upon thee, and thou shalt not be aware; [there shall be a] pit, and thou shalt fall into it: and grief shall come upon thee, and thou shalt not be able to be clear; and destruction shall come suddenly upon thee, and thou shalt not know.
12 Versuche es nur mit deinen Bannsprüchen und mit deinen vielen Zauberkünsten, mit denen du dich von Jugend auf abgemüht hast: vielleicht vermagst du dir damit Hilfe zu schaffen, vielleicht jagst du (mir) Schrecken ein.
Stand now with thine enchantments, and with the abundance of thy sorcery, which thou hast learned from thy youth; if thou canst be profited.
13 Du hast es dir sauer werden lassen mit deinen vielen Ratgebern: laß sie doch hertreten, daß sie dich retten, die Himmelsvermesser, die Sterngucker, die nach den einzelnen Neumonden feststellen werden, was dich treffen wird!
Thou art wearied in thy counsels. Let now the astrologers of the heaven stand and deliver thee, let them that see the stars tell thee what is about to come upon thee.
14 Fürwahr, sie werden der Spreu gleichen, die das Feuer verzehrt hat: sie werden nicht einmal ihr eigenes Leben aus der Gewalt der Flammen retten – es wird ja keine Kohlenglut sein, an der man sich wärmen kann, kein Herdfeuer, vor dem man sitzen kann.
Behold, they all shall be burnt up as sticks in the fire; neither shall they at all deliver their life from the flame. Because thou hast coals of fire, sit thou upon them;
15 So wird es dir mit denen ergehen, um die du dich gemüht hast, mit deinen Geschäftsfreunden seit deiner Jugend: sie werden auseinanderstieben, ein jeder nach seiner Richtung hin; keiner wird dir zu Hilfe kommen.
these shall be thy help. Thou hast wearied thyself with traffic from thy youth: every man has wandered to his own home, but thou shalt have no deliverance.
