Jesaja 14
1 Denn der HERR wird sich Jakobs erbarmen und Israel noch einmal erwählen und sie auf ihrem Heimatboden zur Ruhe bringen. Die Fremdlinge werden sich ihnen dabei anschließen und sich dem Hause Jakobs zugesellen.
For Jehovah will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in rest in their own land; and the stranger shall be united to them, and they shall be joined to the house of Jacob.
2 Und die Völker werden sie nehmen und sie an ihren Ort hinbringen, und das Haus Israel wird im Lande des HERRN Knechte und Mägde an ihnen besitzen, so daß sie die, von denen sie vordem in Gefangenschaft gehalten worden waren, selbst in Gefangenschaft halten und die Herrschaft über ihre früheren Zwingherren ausüben.
And the peoples shall take them and bring them to their place; and the house of Israel shall possess them in the land of Jehovah for servants and handmaids; and they shall take them captive whose captives they were, and they shall rule over their oppressors.
3 Sobald aber der HERR dir Ruhe verschafft hat von deiner Mühsal und deiner Unruhe und von dem harten Frondienst, mit dem du geknechtet wurdest,
And it shall come to pass in the day that Jehovah shall give thee rest from thy sorrow and from thy trouble and from the hard bondage wherein thou wast made to serve,
4 sollst du dieses Spottlied auf den König von Babylon anstimmen und es so vortragen: O wie ist zur Ruhe gekommen der Zwingherr, zur Ruhe gekommen die Mißhandlung!
that thou shalt take up this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say, How hath the oppressor ceased, — the exactress of gold ceased!
5 Zerbrochen hat der HERR den Stecken der Frevler, den Herrscherstab der Gewaltherren,
Jehovah hath broken the staff of the wicked, the sceptre of the rulers.
6 der da Völker im Grimm schlug mit Schlägen ohne Unterlaß, der im Zorn Völkerschaften niedertrat mit erbarmungsloser Knechtschaft.
He that smote the peoples in wrath with a relentless stroke, he that ruled the nations in anger, is persecuted unsparingly.
7 Nun hat Ruhe, hat Rast die ganze Erdbevölkerung: alles bricht in Jubel aus!
The whole earth is at rest, is quiet: they break forth into singing.
8 Sogar die Zypressen freuen sich über dich, die Zedern des Libanons: »Seitdem du dich schlafen gelegt hast, steigt niemand mehr herauf zu uns, um uns abzuhauen!«
Even the cypresses rejoice at thee, the cedars of Lebanon, [saying, ] Since thou art laid down, no feller is come up against us.
9 Das Totenreich drunten gerät in Aufregung um deinetwillen, in Erwartung deiner Ankunft: es stört die Schatten deinetwegen auf, alle, die vordem die Häupter der Erde waren, und macht von ihren Thronsesseln aufstehen alle Könige der Völkerschaften. (Sheol h7585)
Sheol from beneath is moved for thee to meet [thee] at thy coming, stirring up the dead for thee, all the he-goats of the earth; making to rise from their thrones all the kings of the nations. (Sheol h7585)
10 Sie alle heben an und rufen dir zu: »Auch du bist todkrank geworden wie wir, bist uns gleichgemacht worden!
All of them shall answer and say unto thee, Art thou also become powerless as we; art thou become like unto us!
11 Hinabgestürzt ins Totenreich ist dein Prunk, das Getön deiner Harfen! Maden bilden das Lager unter dir, und Würmer sind deine Decke!« (Sheol h7585)
— Thy pomp is brought down to Sheol, the noise of thy lyres: the maggot is spread under thee, and worms cover thee. (Sheol h7585)
12 »O wie bist du vom Himmel gefallen, du Glanzgestirn, Sohn der Morgenröte! Wie bist du zu Boden geschmettert, du Besieger der Völker,
How art thou fallen from heaven, Lucifer, son of the morning! Thou art cut down to the ground, that didst prostrate the nations!
13 der du dachtest in deinem Sinn: ›In den Himmel will ich hinaufsteigen, hoch über den Sternen Gottes meinen Thron aufrichten, will auf dem Berge der Zusammenkunft mich niederlassen im äußersten Norden!
And thou that didst say in thy heart, I will ascend into the heavens, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God, and I will sit upon the mount of assembly, in the recesses of the north;
14 Ich will über die Wolkenhöhen hinauffahren, will mich dem Höchsten gleich machen!‹
I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High:
none the less art thou brought down to Sheol, to the recesses of the pit. (Sheol h7585)
16 Wer dich einst gesehen hat, betrachtet dich nun, schaut dich nachdenklich an: ›Ist dies der Mann, der die Erde in Beben versetzte und Königreiche zittern machte?
They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee; they shall consider thee, [saying, ] Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that shook kingdoms;
17 Der den Erdkreis in eine Wüste verwandelte und die Städte darauf zerstörte? Der seine Gefangenen nie in die Heimat entließ?‹
[that] made the world as a wilderness, and overthrew the cities thereof; [that] dismissed not his prisoners homewards?
18 Alle Könige der Völkerschaften insgesamt ruhen in Ehren, ein jeder in seinem Hause;
— All the kings of the nations, all of them, lie in glory, every one in his own house;
19 du aber bist, fern von deiner Grabstätte, hingeworfen wie ein verabscheuter Sprößling, überdeckt mit Erschlagenen, vom Schwert Durchbohrten, die zu den Steinen der Grube hinabsteigen mußten, wie ein zertretenes Aas.
but thou art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch, covered with the slain — those thrust through with the sword, that go down to the stones of the pit: like a carcase trodden under foot.
20 Nicht wirst du mit ihnen vereint sein im Grabe; denn du hast dein Land zugrunde gerichtet, dein Volk hingemordet. In Ewigkeit soll das Geschlecht des Übeltäters nicht mehr genannt werden:
Thou shalt not be joined with them in burial; for thou hast destroyed thy land, hast slain thy people. Of the seed of evildoers no mention shall be made for ever.
21 stellt für seine Söhne die Schlachtbank bereit wegen der Schuld ihrer Väter, damit sie nie wieder auftreten und sich der Erde bemächtigen und den weiten Erdkreis mit Trümmern füllen!«
Prepare ye slaughter for his children, because of the iniquity of their fathers; that they may not rise up and possess the earth, nor fill the face of the world with cities.
22 »Ja, ich will mich gegen sie erheben« – so lautet der Ausspruch des HERRN der Heerscharen – »und will Babylon ausrotten mit Stumpf und Stiel, mit Sproß und Schoß« – so lautet der Ausspruch des HERRN –
For I will rise up against them, saith Jehovah of hosts, and cut off from Babylon name and remnant, and scion and descendant, saith Jehovah.
23 »und will es zum Besitztum der Igel machen und zu Wassersümpfen und will es hinwegfegen mit dem Kehrbesen der Vernichtung!« – so lautet der Ausspruch des HERRN der Heerscharen.
And I will make it a possession for the bittern, and pools of water; and I will sweep it with the besom of destruction, saith Jehovah of hosts.
24 Geschworen hat der HERR der Heerscharen also: »Fürwahr, wie ich es vorbedacht habe, so soll es geschehen, und wie ich es beschlossen habe, so soll es zustande kommen:
Jehovah of hosts hath sworn saying, Assuredly as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, it shall stand:
25 zerschmettern will ich den Assyrer in meinem Lande und ihn auf meinen Bergen zertreten, damit sein Joch von ihnen genommen wird und seine Last von ihrem Rücken verschwindet.«
to break the Assyrian in my land; and upon my mountains will I tread him under foot; and his yoke shall depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their shoulders.
26 Dies ist der Ratschluß, der über die ganze Erde beschlossen ist, und das bedeutet die Hand, die über alle Völkerschaften ausgestreckt ist.
This is the counsel which is purposed concerning the whole earth; and this is the hand which is stretched out upon all the nations.
27 Denn wenn der HERR der Heerscharen einen Plan gefaßt hat: wer will ihn vereiteln? Und seine ausgestreckte Hand: wer kann sie zurückbiegen?
For Jehovah of hosts hath purposed, and who shall frustrate [it]? And his hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?
28 Im Todesjahre des Königs Ahas erging folgender Gottesspruch:
In the year of the death of king Ahaz was this burden:
29 »Freue dich nicht, gesamtes Philisterland, darüber, daß der Stecken (dessen), der dich schlug, zerbrochen ist! Denn aus der Wurzel der Schlange fährt eine Giftotter hervor, und deren Frucht ist ein geflügelter Drache.
Rejoice not thou, Philistia, all of thee, because the rod that smote thee is broken; for out of the serpent's root shall come forth a viper, and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent.
30 Da werden dann die Ärmsten der Armen in Ruhe weiden und Dürftige in Sicherheit lagern, aber deinen Wurzelsprößling werde ich durch Hunger sterben lassen, und was von dir noch übrig ist, wird er umbringen.
And the firstborn of the poor shall feed, and the needy shall lie down in safety; but I will kill thy root with famine, and thy remnant shall be slain.
31 Heulet, ihr Tore, schreiet, ihr Städte! Verzage, gesamtes Philisterland! Denn von Norden her kommt Rauch, und keiner tritt aus Reih und Glied heraus in seinen Scharen.
Howl, O gate! cry, O city! thou, Philistia, art wholly dissolved; for there cometh from the north a smoke, and none remaineth apart in his gatherings [of troops].
32 Und welche Antwort wird man den Gesandten der Heidenvölker geben? ›Daß der HERR Zion fest gegründet hat und daß die Elenden seines Volkes dort wohlgeborgen sein werden.‹«
And what shall be answered to the messengers of the nation? That Jehovah hath founded Zion, and the afflicted of his people find refuge in it.
