Hosea 9
1 Freue dich nicht, Israel, (frohlocke) nicht wie die Heidenvölker, daß du von deinem Gott ehebrecherisch abgefallen bist und gern Buhlerlohn auf allen Getreidetennen angenommen hast!
Rejoice not, O Israel, for gladness, as other people; for thou art gone astray, unfaithful to thy God: thou hast loved the wages of sin upon every corn-filled threshing-floor.
2 denn Tenne und Kelter werden sie nicht nähren, und der Most wird ihre Hoffnung täuschen.
The threshing-floor and the wine-press shall not feed them, and the new wine shall deceive them.
3 Sie sollen im Lande des HERRN nicht wohnen bleiben, sondern Ephraim muß nach Ägypten zurückkehren, und in Assyrien werden sie unreine Speisen genießen.
They shall not dwell in the land of the Lord; but Ephraim shall return to Egypt, and in Assyria will they eat unclean things.
4 Dann werden sie dem HERRN keine Weinspenden mehr ausgießen, und ihre Schlachtopfer werden ihm nicht mehr wohlgefällig sein; nein, wie Trauerbrot wird ihre Speise sein: alle, die davon essen, verunreinigen sich dadurch; denn ihre Speise dient nur der Stillung ihres Hungers, ins Haus des HERRN gelangt sie nicht.
They shall not pour out wine to the Lord, and [their offerings] shall not be pleasing unto him; their sacrifices shall be unto them as the bread of mourners; all that eat thereof shall be polluted: for this their food can only be for themselves, it shall not come into the house of the Lord.
5 Was wollt ihr dann beginnen an Feiertagen und am Tage des Festes des HERRN?
What will ye do on the day of the appointed festival, and on the day of the feast of the Lord?
6 Denn ach! Sie müssen nach Assyrien wandern, Ägypten wird sie einheimsen und Moph ihnen die Grabstätte bauen; ihre Kostbarkeiten an Silber werden die Disteln in Besitz nehmen, und Dorngesträuch wird in ihren Zelten (wachsen).
For, lo, they are gone forth because of the desolation: Egypt will gather them up, Moph will bury them: the pleasant chambers for their silver, —these shall nettles take possession of; thorns shall [grow] in their tents.
7 Es kommen die Tage der Heimsuchung, es kommen die Tage der Vergeltung: Israel wird erkennen, ob der Prophet ein Narr, der gottbegeisterte Mann wahnsinnig gewesen ist –, und zwar wegen der Menge deiner Verschuldungen und der Größe deiner Feindseligkeit! –
Come are the days of the visitation, come are the days of thy recompense; this shall Israel experience: a fool was the prophet, mad the inspired man, because of the greatness of thy iniquity, and the great hatefulness.
8 Ephraim liegt auf der Lauer gegenüber dem Propheten neben meinem Gott: Schlingen des Vogelstellers auf allen seinen Wegen, Anfeindung (sogar) im Hause seines Gottes!
The watchman of Ephraim with my God, the prophet, was a snare of the fowler on all his ways, a hateful thing in the house of his god.
9 In tiefe Verderbnis versunken, treiben sie es wie einstmals in Gibea: er wird ihrer Schuld gedenken, wird ihre Sünden strafen!
They are deeply corrupt, as in the days of Gib'ah: he will remember their iniquity, he will visit their sins.
10 »Wie Trauben in der Wüste, so fand ich Israel, wie eine Frühfrucht am Feigenbaum in seinem ersten Triebe sah ich eure Väter an; als sie aber nach Baal-Peor kamen, gaben sie sich dem Schandgott hin und wurden so greuelhaft wie ihr Geliebter.
Like grapes in the wilderness had I found Israel; as the first ripe fruit on the fig-tree in the first of the season had I seen your fathers; but they too went to Ba'al-pe'or: and devoted themselves unto that shameful idol, and became abominations as those they loved.
11 Ephraims Volksmenge wird Vögeln gleich davonfliegen: keine Geburt mehr, keine Schwangerschaft, keine Empfängnis!
As for Ephraim, their glory shall fly away like a bird: there is no more birth, and no pregnancy, and no conception.
12 Ja, wenn sie auch ihre Kinder großziehen sollten, will ich sie doch kinderlos machen, so daß keine Menschen mehr bleiben; ja wehe auch ihnen selbst, wenn ich mich von ihnen lossage!
But though they were to bring up their children, yet would I bereave them, that there should be no man: yea, woe also to themselves, when I depart from them!
13 Ephraim, wie ich es erschaut habe, glich einer jungen Palme, auf der Flur gepflanzt; aber Ephraim muß seine Söhne dem Würger ausliefern.« –
Ephraim, as I have seen him like Tyre, planted in a pleasant meadow, —yet this Ephraim shall lead forth to the murderer his children.
14 Gib ihnen, HERR – was sollst du ihnen geben? Gib ihnen einen unfruchtbaren Mutterleib und welke Brüste! –
Give them, O Lord, what thou wilt give! give them a miscarrying womb and dried-up breasts.
15 »Alle ihre Bosheit ist in Gilgal zutage getreten: ja, dort habe ich sie hassen gelernt. Wegen der Bosheit ihres ganzen Tuns will ich sie aus meinem Hause vertreiben, will ihnen keine Liebe mehr erweisen: alle ihre Führer sind Abtrünnige!
All their wickedness is in Gilgal; for there I [learnt to] hate them; for the wickedness of their doings will I drive them out of my house: I will love them no farther; all their princes are rebels.
16 Wurmstichig ist Ephraim, seine Wurzel verdorrt; sie werden keine Frucht mehr bringen! Selbst wenn sie Kinder erzeugen sollten, würde ich doch die Lieblinge ihres Leibes sterben lassen.« –
Smitten is Ephraim, their root is dried up, they shall bear no fruit; yea, though they should bring forth, yet would I slay the beloved fruit of their body.
17 Mein Gott verwirft sie, weil sie ihm nicht gehorcht haben; so müssen sie denn unstet unter den Völkern umherirren.
My God will reject them, because they did not hearken unto him: and they shall be wanderers among the nations.
